At the heart of picturesque Upper Wharfedale, not far from the source of the river, our working farm in the village of Buckden is owned by the National Trust and has been tenanted by us, Garry and Gillian Schofield, since 1994.
We provide camping at two locations around the farmhouse hub facilities; a Certified Location Caravan & Camping Club site with hard standing for five units accessed through the Yorkshire Dales National Park Car Park, meadowland tent pitches close to the river Wharfe and Dales Way footpath behind the farmhouse, and four comfortable, heated family Camping Pods.
With stunning walks to take your breath away, we promise you fresh air and fun. Waterfalls, limestone wonders, secluded ghylls are on hand along with a host of tourist attractions to visit within easy driving distance, so there is always plenty to see and do.
Just off the Dales Way, against a backdrop of steep, untamed hillside and within sight of the River Wharfe in its infancy as it winds down through picturesque limestone scenery dotted by ancient stone barns and drystone walls, this simple site is a perfect place to pitch up and revel in the glory of Wharfedale.
Our separate heated shower pod and pot wash area comes with a power shower and 2 w/c’s. There is further w/c, shower and pot wash facility available in the farm yard along side our camping kitchen which provides a fridge, freezer and kettle for your use.
Introducing our heated camping pods - No more flapping guy ropes and crawling under wet canvas, this is glamping! Each pod sleeps up to 5 people, for the ultimate in easy camping. Spacious and secure, the pods are insulated wooden huts which provide warm and cosy accommodation whatever the weather. The roofing material is designed to eliminate noise and enhanced by natural sheep wool insulation, it ensures the pod is warm in cold weather and cool when it gets hot!
Just bring what you’d normally bring for camping – except the tent! Cook outside* and enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner on the decking while you admire the fabulous view and enjoy the glory of the dale around you.
Our two acre site with a gentle slope offers five pitches suitable for Camper Vans and we can also take two caravans, all with electric hook-ups.
In a stunning setting at the bottom of a picturesque ghyll walk, this simple site is a haven for anyone wanting to escape the hurly burly of town or suburb life and get close to nature. The surrounding hills are breath-taking and this spot is your springboard to exploring a world that is truly unspoilt by the passage of time. (You do need to be a Camping & Caravan Club member to camp on this part of the site, but you can always join through us when you arrive for your stay)

A short hop from the Dales Way walking route. Good facilities. Everything well explained/great signage provided. The kitchen facility was very useful.
We had a wonderful night at Buckden. The setting is beautiful and the facilities superb. The shower was sooo good ! We can highly recommend and definitely plan to return, hopefully for a few nights next time.
This was my second time visiting but this time we camped and not in one of the pods. Great facilities, great hosts, fab location. Told my friends about it and they have already booked to stay. Lots of pubs around to eat, you do need to book as they get booked up fast. Take a trip to semer water only 30minutes drive it’s a fab lake to paddle board on.
Small but perfectly formed campsite in the Yorkshire dales. Even when busy felt quiet with nice pitches. Toilets and showers in good condition and a great location right in the heart of the village with pub, river, and walks right on the doorstep
Perfect location for families, couples or individuals. Within walking distance of 2 pubs (4 if you're you're up to walking a few miles). Facilities clean and tidy.
Lovely site. Beautiful location ans walks . Very clean facilities . Nice addition of coffee and cake trailer on site . Pub across the road
My daughter and I spent three nights in the ‘Highland’ pod while reconnecting with family and celebrating an 80th birthday. The pod was clean, comfortable, and spacious, as was the campsite; we particularly appreciated how easy it was to get to the toilets and showers. Tea, coffee and a kettle in the pod was greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for having us!
I stayed at Buckden Camping whilst doing the Dales Way and had a fantastic night. Firstly, the campsite was just a short diversion from the path and very easy to get too, secondly, the facilities on site were perfect - the toilet clean, the shower nice and hot and there was even a small kitchen which had access to tea, coffee, milk, fridge/freezer/microwave which I was not expecting and very welcomed! The site itself was spotless and easy to pitch on. There was an also a pub opposite the site (Buckden Inn) where I was able to get an evening meal. My biggest disappointment was that I was only able to stay the one night! Hoping to return in future to do some more exploring and walking.
Excellent clean facilities on a quiet Monday in late June.
