Vale of Pickering Caravan Park

4.8 (308 reviews)

Since 1985, we have provided keen campers and outdoor enthusiasts with a well kept, family run and top quality caravan park. With its panoramic views, our site is generously planted with trees, shrubs, flower beds and hanging baskets. We can facilitate a wide range of camping and touring options including caravans, motorhomes, campervans, trailer tents and tents.

Our 5 star holiday park is owned and run by the Stockdale family. We have been providing touring and camping holidays since 1985. We are a farming family who diversified into tourism and originally opened with 5 caravans in the corner of the field. We have steadily grown over the years into the award winning park that we are today. With continual investment we work hard to ensure our grounds and facilities are kept in tip-top condition so that our guests can have a memorable stay.

Our grassed camping areas at The Vale of Pickering are all level and can accommodate most tent sizes. As well as having camping pitches on the main park we also have an adjoining camping field. Some pitches for tents have electric hook up (6 amp) but these are limited in number. 6 amp hook ups are suitable for low wattage appliances only.

Our spacious all-weather touring pitches are suitable for touring caravans, motor-homes, camper vans and trailer tents up to a maximum length of 27ft. Pitches are level and well drained. We have 2 chemical disposal points and a drive-up motor home waste water point.

We pre-allocate pitches on booking and will always try our best to meet any requests made. Touring pitches have a 10amp electric hook up supply. Some touring pitches overlook the children’s play area and several are close to the shower block. Our centrally heated wash-rooms are situated in a central location within the park.

Our licensed onsite shop is open daily and caters for most needs, stocking basic necessities, children's toys and a small range of caravan and camping equipment. The local butcher supplies us with tasty bacon and sausages and we also stock free range eggs from a local supplier.

Our surrounding area really is 'Gods Own County' and is very special to us. We love to share our knowledge of the local area which in turn helps you to plan your days out to get the most out of the time you spend with us. There really is something for everyone including the coastal towns of Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Bridlington, the stunning North York Moors and historic market towns of Pickering, Malton and Helmsley.

We have a host of popular attractions nearby including The North York Moors Railway, Dalby Forest, Flamingo Land and Castle Howard to name but a few. We are committed to stocking local produce in our shop and cafe wherever possible supporting our local producers and makers. You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining out. Our local village pub The Cayley Arms, Allerston is just 1.25 miles from our park and the Coachman Inn, Snainton is 3 miles from the park offering excellent food and drinks.

We invite you to relax and share with us our 'Happy Place'.

First Visit

Claydon, Pam & Chris - 04/07/2026

The site location and site facilities were absolutely beautiful couldn’t fault it The whole site was beautifully kept, showers/toilets /laundry facilities were top class lovely cafe, reception and shop The staff were very warm and welcoming The only negative for us was the birds very noisy tap dancing on the roof of the van struggled to sleep. It may be down to the particular pitch we were on don’t really know other than that absolutely no issues

Thank your for leaving us this review. We are pleased to hear that you couldn't fault the site facilities or location, and found our staff to be friendly. We are sorry to hear that nature on the roof of your van prevented you from a relaxing sleep. The spring/summer months provide a prime time for nesting birds in the surrounding trees and hedges, hence why you experienced increased activity from them during your stay. The rural location of the site does contribute to the presence of nature too, however as you explained our location is great. We try wherever possible to streamline conservation and guest experience, but ultimately there are some things that are out of our hands and we hope that you can see perspective. That being said, we hope that you choose to stay with us again in the near future. Caitlin :)

Hi Chris, It is a shame to hear that you found there to be too many dogs off leads and barking. We reiterate that there is a maximum of 3 dogs allowed per pitch, and we are not aware of anyone exceeding this policy during your stay. This policy has remained unchanged for many years, since we seldom receive any complaints about the number of dogs per unit. We urge you to consider requesting an area away from other bookings with dogs if you are concerned about it, as we'd love your next stay to be as relaxing for you as possible. We apologise for the lack of respect for rules from other owners regarding dogs being off leads, however we ourselves did not witness any during your stay. We are contactable all hours via the number displayed in reception, should you need to reach us. I hope this has somewhat addressed your concerns and we will endeavor to meet any booking/pitching requests you make in the future. Caitlin :)

Our overall view was the camp was immaculate, the toilet Shower facilitys excellent, all staff go out of there way to be helpfull in every way, we had two dogs with us plenty of areas to walk them, the only thing would have been a fenced off area so thay could have a run off lead' The camp is situated near to some great pubs and also the moor, something for everyone we will definitely be going back next year ,👍

Excellent in all respects. Only issue (and in no way a fault of the site ) was the crazy hot weather.

Hi Dave,Thanks for the great review! We agree the weather has been keeping us on our toes lately, and in true English weather style, did become nearly unbearable last week! Ideal if you're a hot holiday type of person though!
