Beautiful surroundings, spotlessly clean, wildlife in abundance!Very large tent pitch. Cannot wait to return. Definitely the best campsite I've ever experienced!Thank you Dave and Karen.
If you love nature this is perfect site. The Iwners, who are very friendly have gone to so much trouble to encourage wildlife. A very quiet site as adult only, water points on pitch, metered electricity and the toilets are very clean. Shower £1 and they only allow green toilet fluid. Lovely short walk around the field edge for dogs (which must be on lead at all times to protect the wildlife) and where we spotted multiple hares. Long walk (about a mile to the main road) and to Pickering (another 1/2 mile) but flat. Pickering is lovely with nice shops, cafes and the steam railway. Site access is 2pm.
Lovely stay, excellent hosts, well maintained and clean site 👏🏻👍
A brilliant adult site located near Pickering and numerous visitor locations such as Helmsley Castle, Rievaulx Abbey and RSPB Bempton Cliffs. Such a peaceful place to rest and charge your batteries!
Another great stay at Westgate Carr Farm. This site is an adult only, small quiet site. It has a mile long dog walk which is always mown, and goes around the edge of land attached to the site. Pitches are private and of a very good size, and fully serviced. Facility block is spotless. Disabled shower room is huge, and there is a shower and 2 toilets in each male and female sections. There is also an outside washup area, again kept lovely and clean. An information hut, which also has fresh eggs for sale, when avaliable. We normally caravan here, but took a motorhome this time, so walked into Pickering, which took about 30 mins, but it's flat, so no issue at all. The owners are lovely, and always on hand if you need help. Can highly recommend this site. One of the nicest there is. Our little scottie dog loves it, especially the dog walk.
The site is lovely, generally very quite but voices do carry over the site so people do need to be aware of that. Pleased to say that there weren't too many dogs which is always a bonus. Lovely greeting from Dave, never met Karen. Site is very well looked after, everything is clean and tidy the pitch dividers were well planted. Didn’t use the facilities as the showers were an extra pound so just used the onboard facilities though I guess they are important for the camper vans. The site is about a mile down from the main road on a single track, cars coming the other way were generally helpful and patient so no problem. The pitch hard surface is very hard, ,I struggled with rock pegs, and even when they were fully in a few came back out again.Pickering is a super small town and worth exploring, lots of independent shops, bakeries cafes etc. went in Russels traditional cafe and bakery - not recommende , awful coffeee and not been in a bakery before that doesn’t sell br
We have stayed at Westgate Carr farm many times the site is owned by Dave and Karen who are the most sociable couple you could wish to meet ,the site is very quiet and convenient for Pickering and surrounding villages with some very good places to eat well worth a visit .
This was such a lovely campsite - clean and well maintained. Toilets and showers were lovely and clean and ponds around the site added to the tranquility of the site. However, when we arrived we were presented with 5/6 pages of A4 sheets of information which was helpful at times but the language and grammar at times was negative and full of rules. The example that stands out the most was asking us to 'whisper' as noise travelled in the area. Having spoken to two other guests about this 'feel,' they also felt the same way - the rules, the 'do not' signage and negative language have put them off.We appreciate the need to get messages over to 'some' holidaymakers who lack common courtesy and common sense but these are definitely in the minority and they will probably break the 'rules' anyway. This would stop us returning which is a shame as everything else was perfect.
Cannot fault our stay at all. The family made us feel very welcome. Facilities were great and our pitch was very peaceful 😄 will definitely be back when we are down that way again. We spent some time chatting with to the family at night and were made to feel welcomed 👍🏻
This is a return visit for us and Westgate Carr farm never disappoints. The facilities are modern and spotless, the plots are spacious and well cared for, the picnic table is a lovely bonus. The dog walk route is beautiful and allows you to emerse yourself in nature just feet from your plot. We saw hares, barn owls, herons, kestrel, rabbits, swans and that's without the onsite farm animals. The site is ideal for a stroll into Pickering and visits to flamingo land, Malton and the coast. You really could not ask for more. The hosts were lovely and friendly and we are already planning a return as it is so relaxing and peaceful.
