At the heart of picturesque Upper Wharfedale, not far from the source of the river, our working farm in the village of Buckden is owned by the National Trust and has been tenanted by us, Garry and Gillian Schofield, since 1994.
We provide camping at two locations around the farmhouse hub facilities; a Certified Location Caravan & Camping Club site with hard standing for five units accessed through the Yorkshire Dales National Park Car Park, meadowland tent pitches close to the river Wharfe and Dales Way footpath behind the farmhouse, and four comfortable, heated family Camping Pods.
With stunning walks to take your breath away, we promise you fresh air and fun. Waterfalls, limestone wonders, secluded ghylls are on hand along with a host of tourist attractions to visit within easy driving distance, so there is always plenty to see and do.
Just off the Dales Way, against a backdrop of steep, untamed hillside and within sight of the River Wharfe in its infancy as it winds down through picturesque limestone scenery dotted by ancient stone barns and drystone walls, this simple site is a perfect place to pitch up and revel in the glory of Wharfedale.
Our separate heated shower pod and pot wash area comes with a power shower and 2 w/c’s. There is further w/c, shower and pot wash facility available in the farm yard along side our camping kitchen which provides a fridge, freezer and kettle for your use.
Introducing our heated camping pods - No more flapping guy ropes and crawling under wet canvas, this is glamping! Each pod sleeps up to 5 people, for the ultimate in easy camping. Spacious and secure, the pods are insulated wooden huts which provide warm and cosy accommodation whatever the weather. The roofing material is designed to eliminate noise and enhanced by natural sheep wool insulation, it ensures the pod is warm in cold weather and cool when it gets hot!
Just bring what you’d normally bring for camping – except the tent! Cook outside* and enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner on the decking while you admire the fabulous view and enjoy the glory of the dale around you.
Our two acre site with a gentle slope offers five pitches suitable for Camper Vans and we can also take two caravans, all with electric hook-ups.
In a stunning setting at the bottom of a picturesque ghyll walk, this simple site is a haven for anyone wanting to escape the hurly burly of town or suburb life and get close to nature. The surrounding hills are breath-taking and this spot is your springboard to exploring a world that is truly unspoilt by the passage of time. (You do need to be a Camping & Caravan Club member to camp on this part of the site, but you can always join through us when you arrive for your stay)

Good value and great location for exploring the dales. Basic amenities but clean and all that's needed for what's a pretty small site. Would be nice to be able to take / use a fire pit as it gets cold at night in these parts around Easter but The Buck Inn (across to road) is an option to get out of the cold, the food is decent and the beers okay. Never stayed here later in the year as tend to head up to the lakes but I'd imagine it's good for kids with a fairly safe area to swim in the Wharfe by the bridge behind the site. Easy drive to Hawes, Aysgarth, Ribblehead, 3 Peaks etc. as it's a good distance into the dales. If you've camped in the dales before or are new to it there's not a lot fault by staying here in Upper Wharfdale.
Across the road from the local pub serving meals and lovely outside area. Access to Buckden Pike through the car park across the road and also easy access to the Dales Way for a good level walk to Starbottom and Kettlewell beside the river. The facilities on the site were spotless.
Three of us come to Buckden every year from nearby York, we love it, and our daughter won't stay anywhere else.We love the size of the site and the fact that it isn't over the top. Please don't change!Thank you PS. The photo was on Thursday 17th April 2025
Stayed three nights in a family glamping pod. Received directions and site information via email and text message before arrival. Very easy to locate the pod and check in. Facilities although not many were clean and accessible.Great location. Fridge and kettle in pod was brill as well as the plug sockets. A few more hanging hooks inside would have been good. Also a site map and location of the pods/tent field would be nice on the website in order to choose which pod to book (unless I've missed it!)Overall peaceful stay, great hosts and we would love to go back. Thank you.
A fantastic campsite in a lovely, quiet and scenic location. Ideal place for a short break. Only stayed for one night on a short break, but will definitely be booming to come back again in the near future.
Clean، quiet، fantastic location، its juat a fantastic site، with a great pub a minute away.
The amenities were spotlessly clean, everything was close as the campsite is relatively small, we were impressed by the camping pod we stayed in which was lovely, Gill was very helpful and easy to communicate with to make sure our stay was successful and we had everything we neededPub close by was great, village shop left a little to b desired but there were bigger villages nearby
Great stay. Great walks. Great pub nearby. Great value, Amazing views.
We have stayed in Buckden camping pods a few times. It is our favourite place to stay! I booked my last trip to Buckden camping, as a night away, to escape every-day life for a bit. Can’t recommend this place enough. Beautiful village, stunning views, cute and warm pods and very accommodating and friendly hosts. I recommend all my friends and family. Book a stay … you won’t regret it!!
