The National Trust bought Heber Farm in 1994 to help preserve it as the last working farm in the village.

Tenanted by us since then, the farm keeps us busy with 600 sheep, plus cattle including a developing herd of Belted Galloways. As hill farming becomes less able to survive commercially in today’s economy the new herd provides a more viable breed, naturally equipped to live outdoors without the costs associated with indoor accommodation and feeding.

Garry is on the steering group for the Yorkshire Dales National Park looking at ‘higher nature farming’ practices as a means to long term sustainable farming methods that benefit the environment.

My two night stay was peaceful and restorative. G really helpful with booking. Spacious grassy pitch (1/8) with hard standing for the van wheels. Clean shower & facilities 2 mins walk across road or NatTrust 24hr loos 50yds. Choice of circular walks from site - flat along river or up into the hills. Waterfalls and dipping spots in easy reach. Pub with decent menu in village. Fell asleep both nights to the sounds of owls.

Night Sky

Lots of guidance, information about the site and leaflets provided on arrival. A friendly welcome given. The toilet and shower were clean throughout our two week stay. I would recommend your own toilet tent as well because of the walk. The bus service from the nearby carpark was brilliant. The Dales Tour on a Sunday gave the opportunity for a ride on the top deck to look at the scenery, followed by a look around Hawes, including tasting the Wensleydale cheese. The variety of available walks from the site was amazing, so boots needed. With no light pollution, the stars looked wonderful on a clear night. Lovely to see the hills all around and experience the peace and quiet. Listen out for the owls at night. I missed the baaing sheep when I got home.

Gill was as welcoming as always. This is a little site in a beautuful location with minimal faciities. We just love it.You really need your own toilet, but there is one and a nice shower just down the road at the farmhouse.Elec hook up is on site and a toilet disposable point but please use env friendly chemicals ( not blue stuff).PS, dont tell everybody as we want to go again and again.

Ideal walking base

Turner, Ian - 17/09/2022

Lovely little campsite in the Yorkshire dales with friendly staff, an ideal base for walking with a number of walks straight from the campsite. The Buck Inn just across the road is a welcoming place to eat and drink after a long day on the fells. There are also a few other pubs up and down the valley, the Fox and Hounds in Starbotten is an excellent lunch venue.Only comments about the site would be could maybe do with more showers, we were there when it wasn't overly busy and sometimes had a wait on our hands. Having said that the facilities were modern and always clean. Would benefit from a play area for children as we had a football hit the tent a couple of times. I'm not against kids enjoying themselves but was concerned that this might happen when using our gas stove and cause an accident.Places worth visiting are Grassington village and Skipton with its castle. We also were there when the Kilnsey agricultural show was on, a good day out. Would definately recommend this campsit

Perfetion

Inns, Cameron - 17/09/2022

First time at this site and absolutely loved my three days. I was in the camping field. The site was perfect. It was quite full when I arrived but perfectly quiet on the evening. The facilities were fabulous, the shower and toilet in a pod was a genius idea and we're thoroughly clean for the entirety of my stay. I cannot fault this site in any way.Location wise, it is stunning in every direction with many walks direct from the campsite, from easy riverside walks taking in charming villages to full on puff-inducing hillwalking. I will be back here.

From our arrival on site we were helped by the people who run the site, even gave us a longer power cable to power up our camper. Very helpful friendly people with perfect views and a lovely pub just round the corner. Had everything we needed including wifi to keep our daughter entertained on a night after day long adventures in the dales.Would come again in a heartbeat

Holiday Buckden

Berg, Scott - 14/09/2022

Really good campsite. Small site but with plenty of space for plenty of campers. Owners were very friendly and helpful and provided plenty of information on arrival and when I needed to find a way to dry out some of my belongings. Good, clean facilities including two showers, three toilets, access to fridge, freezer, microwave and kettle and drying facilities on request. Also plenty of information provided from booklets, bus timetables and printouts of walks. There is a village store across the road and in nearby Kettlewell, plenty of pubs and a pizzeria 2 miles away.Heber Farm camp in Buckden is in a good location. It was very easy to get to the camp by bus (provided you don't miss the bus) and I twice caught the bus into Grassington and back from the car park which is only a two-minute walk from the campsite. There are several walks that can be done from the campsite and more that can be done from nearby Kettlewell and Grassington, probably more if not relying on public trans
