Our 5 star holiday park is owned and run by the Stockdale family. We have been providing touring and camping holidays since 1985. We are a farming family who diversified into tourism and originally opened with 5 caravans in the corner of the field. We have steadily grown over the years into the award winning park that we are today. With continual investment we work hard to ensure our grounds and facilities are kept in tip-top condition so that our guests can have a memorable stay.
Our grassed camping areas at The Vale of Pickering are all level and can accommodate most tent sizes. As well as having camping pitches on the main park we also have an adjoining camping field. Some pitches for tents have electric hook up (6 amp) but these are limited in number. 6 amp hook ups are suitable for low wattage appliances only.
Our spacious all-weather touring pitches are suitable for touring caravans, motor-homes, camper vans and trailer tents up to a maximum length of 27ft. Pitches are level and well drained. We have 2 chemical disposal points and a drive-up motor home waste water point.
We pre-allocate pitches on booking and will always try our best to meet any requests made. Touring pitches have a 10amp electric hook up supply. Some touring pitches overlook the children’s play area and several are close to the shower block. Our centrally heated wash-rooms are situated in a central location within the park.
Our licensed onsite shop is open daily and caters for most needs, stocking basic necessities, children's toys and a small range of caravan and camping equipment. The local butcher supplies us with tasty bacon and sausages and we also stock free range eggs from a local supplier.
Our surrounding area really is 'Gods Own County' and is very special to us. We love to share our knowledge of the local area which in turn helps you to plan your days out to get the most out of the time you spend with us. There really is something for everyone including the coastal towns of Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Bridlington, the stunning North York Moors and historic market towns of Pickering, Malton and Helmsley.
We have a host of popular attractions nearby including The North York Moors Railway, Dalby Forest, Flamingo Land and Castle Howard to name but a few. We are committed to stocking local produce in our shop and cafe wherever possible supporting our local producers and makers. You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining out. Our local village pub The Cayley Arms, Allerston is just 1.25 miles from our park and the Coachman Inn, Snainton is 3 miles from the park offering excellent food and drinks.
We invite you to relax and share with us our 'Happy Place'.
All of our pitches are level and well drained. Touring hard-standing pitches have a 10amp electric supply.

Lovely peaceful site, which is so well kept along with immaculate facilities. A lovely play park for kiddies, huge dog walking area , on site shop and cafe.......Perfect
Hi Simon, Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. It is always rewarding to get such positive feedback! We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. Caitlin :)
Had a great stay at this site. The camping field was clean, grass well kept and plenty of space for the tent and car. Perfectly flat too which made a huge difference. Water and bins are dotted around the site everywhere which made everything really convenient. Then the facilities block itself was stunning! Always spotlessly clean, never busy, good water pressure and plenty of options. There is a unisex block which has huge “wet room” style rooms which is great for privacy. Even a bath if you wanted one!The hairdryers were rubbish, but other than that everything was perfect. Plenty of washing up space, good chest freezer, recycling bins, lighting at night. Then finally the cafe breakfast was superb and very good value for money. The site is perhaps a little more expensive than some others but I’d argue it’s well worth it. Will definitely be returning!
Thank you for taking the time to leave such an in depth review of your stay here at The Vale of Pickering. It is lovely to hear that you have such positive feedback about the site. The site prices are very much in line with other sites in the local area, however prices do vary depending on season.
Campsites facilities great for families and couples. Well maintained, welcoming staff and shower block cleaned and site beautifully kept. Clearly everyone takes pride in this site. Kiddies area and cafe an added bonus and we enjoyed our stay. We had initially booked this site in April but had to reschedule due to ill health.Thankfully made it this time! the only downside was site busy, and we were pitched directly in front of bin area, waste water, and toilet waste room. We would have stayed longer and I should have asked to be moved but no energy to relocate again.Surrounding area, including Thornton le dale and Pickering are pretty places to visit. We could not fault the facilities and would book again, just a different pitch. Thank you x
Hi Debra, Thank you for your great feedback on the cleanliness of the site and facilities, we do take a lot of pride in the presentation of the park. It is a shame to hear that you would have preferred another pitch location, which is something, like you say, that we could have offered you had you popped into reception to ask. Although we were busy, the reception team would have worked something out for you. We hope to welcome you back in the near future!Caitlin :)
As members of the BMW Motorcycle Club we have been coming to Vale of Pickering Campsite for over six years in June. The facilities and staff are top notch and the reason we are very happy to return year on year.It would be great if the onsite cafe could be open more hours as during inclement weather is good to go and spend time out of the rain.Full marks for the Alleyways Fish and Chip van on a Saturday evening, quality is superb, very tasty.
It was great to see you all again this year! We agree the fish and chips are fab!Caitlin :)
Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review Neil. We are pleased to hear that you would highly recommend us!Caitlin :)
Returning customer here ,high standards with friendly staff and all the facilities you need , my family always speak of this place highly.
A great review to read, so thank you Jason. Also great to hear that your family share the same feedback. See you again soon!Caitlin :)
We have just returned from a fortnight stay at the Vale. We had an amazing time. The site is very clean and the facilities are excellent. All staff were helpful and would go out of their way to help with any information I would highly recommend this site to everyone. They also have a huge dog park and dog washing facilities
Hi Fiona, Sounds like a wonderful long stay, we are so pleased! Hope to welcome you back again soon.Caitlin :)
Great site lovely and clean has everything you need. However it's in the middle of nowhere. No pubs etc. It's a 40 min drive to Scarborough and whitby where parking is horrendous. We had 2 dogs with us and the beaches were not always favourable to dogs. Where you could take a dog there was nowhere to park. So it's on that basis that although a lovely site we would not return.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review Jean. We are sorry to hear the parking conditions were no good at the beaches. Dogs are generally restricted during peak months on beaches, but restrictions are generally eased if you visit out of these seasons. That being said there are still a few beaches that allow dogs all year round. Caitlin :)
We had a wonderful stay at Vale of Pickering once again. The site is always spotlessly clean and tidy and the facilities are first class and one of the best we have used. Pitches are large with plenty of room and all the staff go over and above to ensure a perfect stay. The cafe on site serves delicious food and coffees and even have a pizza night. Site is perfectly situated in the countryside but very close to Pickering, Thornton le Dale, Malton and the Dalby forest.Perfect for families and couples this is one of our regular go to sites. Look forward to coming back soon.
What a wonderful review to read Peter, thank you for taking the time to leave it for us. We certainly look forward to your return!Caitlin :)
