"Great campsite"

Anonymous - Stayed with family, Aug 2019

This is mainly a site for caravans, but we visited with our tent and were very impressed with the camping field. Lovely and flat and with a huge space for kids to play. Friendly staff and the play area was a huge bonus. Recommended

Generally the toilet blocks (apart from the unisex facilities) look very tired and unwelcoming.

Pretty much an ideal site! Only (minor) downsides ... Unattended/undisciplined children very noisy late at night - parents obviously happy to have them away from their vicinity! Adults not respecting personal space and taking short cuts between caravans No nearby pubs... Pretty much an ideal site! Only (minor) downsides ... I have stayed at this caravan park many times over the past 20+ years, from being younger than my own children are now. The last time we stayed was approximately 6 years ago for a long weekend, out most recent visit was for 6 nights however we decided to leave a day early due to weather forecast. The park itself is in a great location, Flamingo Land is only about 15minutes away, Whitby is only about 30minutes & York about 1 hour. It is tucked away from busy roads & surrounded by fields- ideal for playing ball games & walking dogs. The park is very welcoming & attractive to the eye as you drive in. The space between each caravan appears to be smaller than I recall from our last visit, & it seems to be a lot busier/ more pitches & noisier now (we were there in the school holidays so assuming that is a factor). It is well maintained & attended to daily. The bins are emptied regularly so no nasty smells when you put your rubbish in (even on really hot days). Staff are very friendly & helpful, they are available at the reception area, there is a handy shop & a lovely little cafe on site too. I don’t recall seeing any staff around the park once the reception shut or any indications on what to do if you needed help (I may have just not noticed it). The facilities are fine, plenty toilets, showers & baths. There is a unisex area for families to go, although the room where the bath is was a very tight squeeze for 2 adults & 3 children! It costs £1 to fill the bath with hot water- costs a small fortune when running 3 baths at least once a day! On a couple of occasions we had to bath the children together as we didn’t have enough change for the meter. The facilities were cleaned thoroughly every day & mops/ bathroom spray were available, although there were several occasions when other service users hadn’t cleaned up after themselves when we went to use the bath. The children’s park is next to the reception & cafe & has lots of apparatus for the children to play on. I remember most of it being there when I was a child (I’m now 31). It is well maintained & fenced in so smaller children couldn’t just run off. The only downside to the park we found was the older children (12ish plus). They were climbing up slides & wouldn't allow the younger children to play. There was a lot of foul language & swearing which was reported to the reception by several other guests & we were informed that these children had been warned several times. They were using the park for the 5 days were were there & their language hadn’t really improved despite their warnings. It stopped my children (7, 5 & 3) using the park as much as they would have liked. Overall we had a nice week & would probably visit again- although may avoid the school summer holidays in future!

We have visited this site several time in the last few years and the staff have always been friendly and the site immaculate. Each time we go alterations have been made to further improve what we believed was perfect already. The cafe is a lovely addition and it’s staff welcoming and friendly. We love this site for it’s close proximity to Scarborough, Bridlington, Whitby and Dalby Forest as we have recently started to take grandchildren with us and there’s plenty for them to do. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this site and have done so on many occasions. One of our priorities when choosing a site is the shower facilities and these are always immaculate however the staff can not control the condition some users leave them in, they are checked frequently during the day and cleaned again as necessary. Thank you Vale of Pickering for our fantastic relaxing and trouble free stays.

Stayed for 5 night's on pitch 63 ideal for our children to play as next to the playground although this could get very noisy at times especially at night and some childrens behaviour wasnt the best, although this isnt the parks fault! Excellent wash facilities, the unisex toilets and showers are perfect for families and the use of a bath for the baby was perfect. Onsite cafe was an added bonus we enjoyed a drink and although didnt eat the cakes looked lovely and reasonably priced. All the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. If I had one criticism it would be that all pitches are hard standing, it is difficult to get your pegs in for the awning and also caused lots of grazes on the kids knees! Overall though we enjoyed our stay and would look to stay again if revisiting the area
