"Our first glamping adventure"

Mr J Clarke - Stayed with partner, Jul 2021

This was the first time we have tried glamping and I can honestly say it won't be our last. The staff were very welcoming but not intrusive,it was very good to be left to our own devices.I feel it would be unfair to comment on childrens facilities and on site activities... Whilst we originally booked Hillside as a convenient way of breaking our journey home from Northumberland we were pleasantly surprised and very impressed with this site. Our "super pitch" was indeed super and qualified as the largest we have ever encountered. Security was first class and the rural setting offered complete peace and quiet. As dog owners we also appreciated the large spaces available for exercising off lead. We only stayed two nights but would certainly want to go again one day.

"A camp site set in beautiful scenery"

Anonymous - Stayed with partner, Jul 2021

The park was set out beautifully, however the paths on the second field were a a little rough. The tiles and shower facilities were ivory modern and clean. Apart from arrival and departure, we did not need to seek any help from staff and did not see anyone walking... Apart from arrival and departure, we did not need to seek any help from staff and did not see anyone walking round the park, this may have been due to covid.

Pitches are well spaced, and the newer pitches are massive, however the older ones In the centre of the site, can be a bit tight for van, awning and car in some circumstances, particularly if your van and car are big. If I was to improve the site in any way it would be to have an enclosed dog area. The walks around and on the site are great but as most dogs are tied up when on your pitch and then have to be on a lead everywhere else it would be nice to have an area where they can be safely let off. Also takeaway food on some nights of the week would be good, there's little in the immediate vacinity so it means a trek into Thirsk, something mobile on site would be a great addition. The less cooking required whilst on holiday the better 😉

We didn’t use the facilities block, mainly due to Covid, we used our own. But what we saw from the outside we were very impressed. The cafe & shop on site are still closed, this showed us that the site were serious about keeping them & us safe, which made us feel safer. When it is safer to use, we will do so. We did look through the windows & it looks very well equipped. The site is immaculate & very well maintained. You do need levelling blocks for both wheels & legs, as pitch 43 which we were on, sloped & we had to raise one wheel & the back leg kept sinking into the gravel every couple of days. We do have a steady on the feet but it still sank. We did however have unprecedented very heavy rain for two weeks prior & the week we were there. The security on site is excellent. You are given a key on arrival which you post through their letter box on leaving. Phone numbers were both emailed & given to us on arrival in case of queries or if we ran out gas, which they brought to your unit. Cutting down on human contact due to Covid but giving reassurance that assistance was still available. All in all a highly recommended site.
