The Oaks lakes at Sessay in North Yorkshire is home to lakes for both match and pleasure fishing. The lakes originally opened in 1994 starting with the Willows lake and over the years it has steadily grown. We currently have 10 lakes with over 400 Pegs, a large café, tackle shop and this year we will be opening a caravan Park in a quiet corner of the lakes so that everyone can come and enjoy the North's most well-known fishing complex.
The 4-acre field is rectangular with a mature wood running along the North West side providing shelter and privacy from the fishing lakes, the North east side faces the Hambleton Hills and the white horse.
A small peaceful, adults only, touring caravan park with supersized hard standing pitches all with their own electrical hook-up, situated in a quiet corner of the fishery but with easy access to the lakes and facilities. Next door to the tackle shop is the Oaks Lakes Cafe which is open everyday, serving cooked breakfasts, bacon sandwiches, panini's, soups, homemade cakes, ice creams and hot and cold drinks.
The Oaks Lakes sit to the North end of the village and are screened with woodland and hedges there are 10 fishing lakes used for many course fishing competitions and featured regularly in the leading angling magazines. The whole area teams with places to go, whether you want to Walk, Cycle or Drive there is plenty to do here is a few: 18 miles away is the ancient walled City of York straight down the A19 approx 35 Minutes. 3 miles will take you to the market town of Thirsk, with its interesting James Herriott Museum. Castle Howard sits thirteen miles from us in the pretty market town of Helmsley.
All pitches are level, supersized hardstanding approx 14m x 12m wide.

Good & Bad Points (in no particular order)Good PointsLocation Clean, Tidy, Peace and quietFishing & wildlife Café breakfast + staffTackle ShopGood Value.Bad PointsWaste bins confusing,Male showers flood the floor if not careful.Needs a motorhome drive over for grey waste.
Very satisfied with the site and good sized allocated pitch.Toilets/showers were clean but on our stay the waste bins in toilet area were not emptied. Very reasonably priced and a bonus that ehu was included .Will most definitely be returning to this site infact could become regular visitors.
Just had a lovely weekend at the oaks site in our Motorhome.Pitches and facilities were excellent and the owners were very friendly. We will definitely return and have already recommended them to friends.Fishing was great and the whole place had a lovely feel.See you soonR.Rennison
Sarah and Tom lovely people always very helpful we have stayed here a lot of times in our camper van and always make new friends the fishing is great
Always love being back here. It's so quiet and peaceful, a great get away from it all no matter the weather. The site is kept scrupulously clean and Sarah and Tom are very friendly and extremely helpful. There is a cafe open until early afternoon that sells great food; full English breakfast and breakfast baps. The only downside is that the nearest supermarket is in Thirsk; but that's only a few miles away and a nice drive through country lanes. My husband says the fishing is very good and there's definitely a lot of choice of pegs with so many lakes on site. On a sunny day it's lovely to sit by the lakeside watching nature. This year we saw several families of geese with their goslings; wonderful. I would definitely recommend this site if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle for a while.
Lovely quiet & peaceful site. Well kept and tidy. My only issue is the showers. They go stone cold of their own accord at random times 🥶. Also, a shelf or shower rack in the cubicle for shampoo etc would be helpful.
Stayed at the Oaks before with my other-half and was very impressed with how quiet and easy going the site seemed. The staff are always helpful and friendly and the site was kept very clean. This time came to do a few days fishing by myself. The site was as before clean and tidy. I did have a few issues with the recycling bins trying to work out whether to put a plastic bag with waste food inside into the bin marked food only as a few people had already done, and the normal waste/ landfill bin was at one corner of the site which took me a while to find. So a really small criticism of the site and I will be returning next month hopfully.
my 4th visit to the Oaks and it won't be my last!...a lovely area to visit.
Basic but clean toilet and shower facilities with constant hot water available. Good disposal facility for chemical and grey water waste, however this could be improved if a drive over area for grey waste was provided. Pitches were of generous size and the touring area was well maintained.Excellent fishing with a variety of sizes and species landed.Good tackle shop on site. The cafe also looked good, though we did not use it on this occasion.
