The Oaks lakes at Sessay in North Yorkshire is home to lakes for both match and pleasure fishing. The lakes originally opened in 1994 starting with the Willows lake and over the years it has steadily grown. We currently have 10 lakes with over 400 Pegs, a large café, tackle shop and this year we will be opening a caravan Park in a quiet corner of the lakes so that everyone can come and enjoy the North's most well-known fishing complex.
The 4-acre field is rectangular with a mature wood running along the North West side providing shelter and privacy from the fishing lakes, the North east side faces the Hambleton Hills and the white horse.
A small peaceful, adults only, touring caravan park with supersized hard standing pitches all with their own electrical hook-up, situated in a quiet corner of the fishery but with easy access to the lakes and facilities. Next door to the tackle shop is the Oaks Lakes Cafe which is open everyday, serving cooked breakfasts, bacon sandwiches, panini's, soups, homemade cakes, ice creams and hot and cold drinks.
The Oaks Lakes sit to the North end of the village and are screened with woodland and hedges there are 10 fishing lakes used for many course fishing competitions and featured regularly in the leading angling magazines. The whole area teams with places to go, whether you want to Walk, Cycle or Drive there is plenty to do here is a few: 18 miles away is the ancient walled City of York straight down the A19 approx 35 Minutes. 3 miles will take you to the market town of Thirsk, with its interesting James Herriott Museum. Castle Howard sits thirteen miles from us in the pretty market town of Helmsley.
All pitches are level, supersized hardstanding approx 14m x 12m wide.

We booked in here for 4 nights initially but had to cut our stay short due to a family emergency. Sarah who looks after the campsite was so friendly and helpful. The day we arrived she was cleaning the toilet block and made an excellent job of it too.Really couldn't fault the site and hopefully we'll be back again in the future.
Not happy after fully setting up, being told to move our caravan from the left side of the hardstanding to the right side of the hard standing, having parking it exactly as the photo shows on the booking and survey photo. It is then pointless having hard standing, as we had to walk in the wet grass.
Love this site - we have been coming for several years. The site is well laid out - each pitch hard standing and grass. Plenty of space between each pitch. Facilities always clean. Really well maintained
Sure itself is lovely and peaceful but toilet block although clean could do with a slight upgrade
Lovely site, very relaxing and fantastic fishing
Nice clean and well maintained site, friendly owners and well accommodating for extra days of staying
Spent 5 nights at oaks lake, ideal if you're into fishing. A well looked after site, never tried the cafe but looks cheap enough...just be careful with your footwear around the pitches as the hedges had been cut leaving the cuttings with large thorns scattered about, other than that a very pleasant stay.
Great stay will be booking again. Easy to book clean facillities. Peacefull and quiet. Easy to find and access great for caravans.
Never saw the owners, which didn't really bother us. Lovely tranquil site but let down by poor toilet and shower block. Bins were overflowing a few times and general cleanliness of the toilets wasn't great. Having said that, if you can manage with your van facilities then it's a winner and we would certainly go back. Nicely positioned for Thirsk. Ripon and Northallerton, all lovely places. If you're into fishing then it's great. We came for the no dogs and no children aspect, as did a few people that were on site at the time. In conclusion, a lovely tranquil stay, very relaxing and very enjoyable.
This is a very well maintained site, wide pitches, clean showers and access to all the facilities you need. Excellent fishing with a tackle shop and cafe on site. All staff and owners are exceptionally helpful and friendly, doing their best to make you stay a great one.
