Woodland Caravan Park is a serene getaway nestled in 10 acres of natural woodland within the Snelston Hall Estate. Catering exclusively to adults aged 18 and above, this park provides a peaceful retreat for discerning guests seeking a quiet and relaxing holiday amidst nature's embrace.
As the name suggests, the park offers a woodland setting where all pitches are strategically placed among the trees. While this guarantees a tranquil atmosphere, it also means that pitches may not be bathed in sunlight throughout the day, adding to the rustic charm of the experience.
Conveniently located just 2 miles south of the picturesque market town of Ashbourne, Woodland Caravan Park is within easy reach of numerous cultural and outdoor activities. Proximity to the stunning Peak District makes this park an ideal base for walkers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts, offering convenient access to the area's natural beauty and attractions.
Accommodating a total of 50 well-placed hard standing pitches suitable for touring caravans, motorhomes, and trailer tents/folding campers, this park ensures a comfortable and enjoyable stay amidst the woodland ambiance.
** Unfortunately, tents are not accepted. **
Facilities at Woodland Caravan Park are designed to enhance guest’s holiday experience. Modern heated toilet and shower facilities are meticulously maintained for cleanliness, with free showers, hairdryers in the ladies' washroom, and electric shaver points in the gent's washroom provided for convenience. Additionally, a modern accessible disabled toilet and shower room cater to guests with specific needs.
Laundry facilities include a washing machine and tumble dryer (charges apply), along with an iron and ironing board for added convenience. Guests can also utilise a microwave oven and enjoy a book exchange service during their stay. For outdoor enthusiasts, a secure one-acre dog exercise area is provided, complete with shaded spots, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for your four-legged friends.
One of the highlights of staying at this park is the opportunity to connect with nature and observe diverse wildlife. From squirrels and pheasants to various bird species, the park's natural setting offers a delightful spectacle for nature lovers. The changing seasons also bring out the beauty of the woodland, providing a unique experience throughout the year.
Beyond the park's boundaries, guests can explore the southern end of the Peak District and the charming town of Ashbourne, known as "The Gateway to the Peak District." The area boasts a wealth of attractions, including historic market towns, scenic trails for walking and cycling, and renowned stately homes such as Chatsworth House.
An onsite information point offers valuable insights into local attractions, walking routes, cycling trails, and dog-friendly destinations, ensuring that guests can plan memorable outings during their stay.

We stayed during the July 2026 heatwave and were glad to be in the shade of the wood. The site is very well maintained with the cleanest toilet and shower facilities that I have ever used. The staff are pleasant and informative and the site is in an easy to reach and good location. On the downside the main road is quite close so there is a little road noise but it is not intrusive. For the price I don't think that there is a better adult only site in the Ashbourne area.
What a fantastic site, easy to find and and sited in a small wood, so plenty of shade from the sun and heat, the moment you arrive, you are greated by Dave and Ruth who are super friendly, and nothing seems to be to much trouble you are shown to your pitch which are all hard standing and loads of room with electrichook up and water not to far away, , the facilities are super clean with plenty of hot water, fresh flowers and even body lotion, washing machine and tumble coin operated, maps of the local area, library hob microwave, washing up area everything you need has been thought of from gloves to wash up brushes, even the dogs are taken care of from a fully fenced in half acre wooded area, with do do bags just in case you forget your own and a dog wash down area, Ashbourne is in walking distance, with Derwent dam, Dovedale and so many other places near by the list goes on and on, would we stay again oh yes, we don't need to think about that one, it was a 10/10 from us all,
Some traffic noise but not enough to spoil the lovely atmosphere. Facilities very clean and well maintained. Owners very welcoming and helpful.
Dave and Ruth were extremely helpful and accommodating. Thank you
Excellent facilities, toilets/showers are kept scrupulously clean. Good washing up facilities & recycling area. The owners, Ruth & Dave are very friendly & nothing is too much trouble. Nice private pitches in the woods.
Excellent place to stay, toilets and showers were immaculate, didn’t have a charging lead, it wasn’t a problem Dave borrowed me one really nice people, Ashbourne only a short taxi ride away, it’s a must place to stay 👍
Nestled in the trees, great place to stay in the heat we’ve been having with three dogs Shade, breeze and a dog field.Early morning walk to the garden centre for breakfast then a stroll back Dave and Ruth are fab owners and make you feel so welcome Facilities always clean and well kept
If you can't relax here then you never will. Dave and Ruth are so helpful nothing is too much trouble. The enclosed dog exercise enclosure is excellent especially in the hot weather as the woodland provides shade. The facilities are second to none with many personal touches. Everything is spotless. We will definitely be back.
Really enjoyed our stay at Woodland Caravan Park. Great location to visit the surrounding area. The wardens are friendly, very helpful & the site is very relaxed. The facilities are immaculate throughout the day & not closed at specific times for cleaning. There is a closed off area to take your dogs in off lead & a system in place where you can go in on your own if your dog needs to be in there without other dogs. You do hear the road noise but being in the woods it still felt really peaceful. We will definitely be going back
Nice quiet woodland setting. Nice facilities and very friendly
