Cosy up next to the log burner or pamper yourself in the extra-large wood-fired hot-tub under the stars. This fabulous, cosy barn conversion is compact, bijou and perfect as a romantic retreat for two. Gaia Lodge, a former piggery, nestles in an elevated position on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border which falls within the southern area of the Peak District National Park. Gaia Lodge boasts panoramic views of the undulating countryside, dotted with natural hedgerows and dry stone walls; characteristic of the Derbyshire Dales. It can be found 165 yards away from the family run caravan and camping site of Upper Hurst Farm, which has been awarded the coveted Environmental Quality Mark award. The warm, gritstone cottage has been renovated with much love, with exposed Douglas fir King-post trusses, stone flag flooring and a log-burner for cosy nights in. Logs are provided free of charge, as is WiFi.

The cottage is lavishly furnished with hand-made linen curtains and blinds, goose-feather & down pillows and duvet. We also have Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels, fluffy dressing gowns and handmade chocolates on arrival (2021 bookings) or a locally sourced breakfast hamper (2022 bookings). It is enhanced further by fully controllable underfloor heating for toasty toes! The kitchen has a granite worktop with quality fixtures and fittings and modern appliances, including a dishwasher.

There is a stone-flagged seating area with a westerly aspect overlooking Ecton Hill which includes a washing line. There is a small, gated, and walled garden with a north-west aspect where you can enjoy the last drop of evening sun. This garden leads to a further completely private, decked patio area (south-west facing and becoming a little suntrap) with a 1700L red cedar, wood-fired hot-tub, to provide a truly special and memorable stay. The hot tub is heated for your arrival and included in the price for shorter stays (up to 4 nights), for longer stays it will need to be emptied, cleaned, refilled, and reheated halfway through your stay which is included in the price for 2022 bookings but will incur an additional charge of £100 for 2021 bookings.

Gaia’s Hideaway is an authentic Mongolian yurt with 1700-L wood-fired hot tub. It is approached from a path at the South-East corner of Upper Hurst Farm Caravan and Camping site, leading down to a secluded corner surrounded by trees, natural hedgerows, and open views to the Peak District hills.

It is a truly magical hideaway. When you open the door in the morning you will be greeted by the sunrise and prolific birdsong. Peace and tranquillity are guaranteed. The South-East aspect means that you will have shade in some places and sunshine all day long on the decking area, so sun-bathing is on the menu.

The yurt is lavishly furnished with an enormous circular bed with a hand-made bamboo headboard and softly draped canopy. Goose-feather & down pillows and superking duvet, Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels, fluffy dressing gowns, a memory foam mattress, and welcome chocolates on arrival (2021 bookings) or a locally sourced food hamper (2022 bookings) are included in the Gaia’s Hideaway experience.

The yurt has a self-contained mini kitchen with refrigerator, washing up and cooking facilities as well as dining and lounge areas that are arranged around a Persian rug and central log burner. On the generous decking area there is a Cadac barbecue ready for cooking on.

For the ultimate experience there is an extra-large red-cedar, wood-fired hot-tub for you to enjoy a truly luxurious and peaceful stay amidst the trees, natural hedges, and wildlife. The hot tub is heated for your arrival and included in the price for shorter stays (up to 4 nights), for longer stays it will need to be emptied, cleaned, refilled, and reheated halfway through your stay which is included in the price for 2022 bookings but will incur an additional charge of £100 for 2021 bookings.

To add to the outdoors adventure, there is an adjacent, private compost toilet. Underfloor-heated flushing toilets and showers are about 150 yards away - back up your little path to the main caravan site.

This is a very large, fully-serviced pitch ideal for all types of units from small campervans up to 40ft RVs.

There is a direct water tap & grey waste disposal on the pitch, as well as a 16-Amp electric hookup.

Awnings must go on the hardstanding all year round; It's very easy to peg into our ground but you will need rock pegs.

2 adults & 1 car. Suitable for tents, campervans, folding campers and trailer tents.
