No complaints about the facilities but £40 for a the superior pitch (just an extra pit and picnic bench) is a little expensive. The pub food was very nice though so would return for food for sure
Just one nights camping and an evening meal. Food excellent, Camping not so good due to inadequate sleeping bag.
Location good campsite small but lovely and pub was fantastic
The campsite is well organised with spacious pitches. We booked a super sized pitch with a bench and fire pit. Management were friendly and calm. It is a small site with adequate amount of showers and toilets which are kept well. Fabulous thanks. Iain.
Great campsite. Great location for a run and bike ride the morning after. Good food but miss the old beef and Stilton pie. The new ones aren’t a patch on them. We used to come just for the food!
Brilliant site. Only stayed for 1 night. Very friendly staff on site, checking in on us in the morning to make sure we were okay. Facilities clean and perfect location right on the trail. Perfect for walking and cycling. We didn't get chance to visit the pub due to only being here a short while, but worth a look next time! Will be back at some point for definite.
After a long day cycling, there's nothing better than coming back to a warm shower, a few pints, good grub and a flat pitch to sleep on. The Royal Oak ticked all those boxes. My friends and I were on a two day cycling trip, the location was perfect for riding both sides of the Peaks. Although this was a family site, being small, it was pretty quiet and calm. Will definitely stop here again.
I thought the site was lovely. The only thing i was very disappointed with was the pub restaurant. I thought the menu did not have much choice and was very overpriced for what you got. This is a complete change from some years ago when we ate with family and friends on a regular basis
Lovely camp site, great location for some lovely walks, the campsite facilities where very clean and tidy, we booked in at the pub situated on the campsite and the sister pub a short walk away which both were very nice. Would recommend a visit
Excellent 3 days at the site. My son had "the best chicken burger of his life", cycled up and down the trail every day and also had a fantastic walk in the Lathkill dale. Looking to book another few days before the year ends.
