Ty-Isaf Caravan & Camping Park

4.3 (73 reviews)

Situated along the B4391 and part of a working farm, Ty Isaf Bala Camping and Caravan site is just two-and-a-half miles from both Bala town centre and Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid) while being well-renowned for its picturesque and idyllic scenery.

The campsite itself provides a spacious and flat area for campers and caravans with areas equipped with electric hook-ups and fresh water points. Furthermore, there is a play area for children and the campsite owns its own fishing rights for a frontage of the River Dee – making it an attractive proposition to those looking for a quiet break.

Awnings, barbeques and camp fires are permitted. Ty Isaf Bala Camping and Caravan site welcomes well-behaved pets (dogs to be under control on leads) but must stress that the site is music-free and anti-social behaviour isn’t tolerated.

Bala’s surrounding area also presents plenty of opportunities for campers to relax with a number of highly-recommended pubs and restaurants within the local area.

Riverside Camping - Non Electric

It is a short distance from the main site and whilst there are toilet facilities all other services are on the main site. Due to the low headroom of the bridge needed to access the fields it is restricted to cars, small campervans and tents only, please speak to reception upon arrival.

Lovely campsite, wish we could've stayed longer. Deffinatly going back sometime.

Lovely place to stay, plenty of room and facilities with everything we needed. Two small play areas and one in construction I think. This is a lovely working farm with cows and goats in a lovely secluded area 10 minutes drive from town. We will deffinatly be back the next time we're over that way.

I have stayed at Ty Isaf, many times before, it's location is superb, and the site has good facilities, and a generally very relaxed atmosphere.

Great field for camping in with plenty of space although field was probably only 2/5 full.Very chilled owners who were not put out by us arriving after 10:00 on Friday. Easy to use website for booking. If any improvement, perhaps shower block could do with a re-vamp.Great to see calves in the barn.

absolutely lovely site , arrived met by farmer lovely fella , showed straight to accomadtion , static caravan old and tired but perfect for what we needed , have 2 dogs and cat so great to find somewhere that would accommodate . Everything you needed , was finger nail clipping on main seating area , obviously not been cleaned before arrival but we weren’t bothered. We but covers over seating areas and towels on floor out of respect cause of dogs , farmers wife turned up was made up with this , mention fact there was no hover and we couldn’t hover up she said was not bothered she would clean when we left. Had amazing week . Come time to leave we rang she turned up to check and give £80 deposit back , was told was not clean enough , explained only had brush she said was going to clean anyway , she then said she’s not cleaning up anybodys mess , left returning with batterd hover which was flat , so had to use brush , brushed 20 years of rubbish from under bed .3 attempts got deposit back.

Always a friendly place to stay

Hastings, James - 15/06/2022

A couple of noisy groups rather spoilt our arrival evening, but unfortunately that has been the nature of camping in the past two years with those new to camping often not understanding the required etiquette. However, a quiet word from the landlady on Saturday had the desired result. This demonstrated the importance of the campsite owners/managers being on site. We stayed on a campsite in Scotland last year where this was not the case, thus there was little that could be done regarding noisy campers. The washroom could have done with a more regular clean, but the nature of the weather - wet and windy - probably made it difficult to keep a high level of cleanliness. Showers are great. The Ty Isaf owners are very friendly, and their pricing is very competitive. Bala nearby is an attractive small town with a number of reasonable cafes/restaurants and is good for grocery shopping. It's a great area for outdoor activities - kayaking, sailing, climbing and walking, to name just a fe

Noisy festival site

Visser, Fleur - 13/06/2022

Stayed 3 night on the 'river camping' site. Information on the website about this separate site is not sufficiently detailed. The toilet facilities are portaloos. There is only one water tap on the quite large field, so few will bother to wash hands if on the wrong side of the field. Hand sanitizers were empty. Toilet paper ran out on the third night. One needs a car to get to the main site from the 'river camping'. Shower/washing facilities are NOT within walking distance. When wet the track gets very muddy and is very bumpy under any condition, so cars with low clearance would struggle to get up and down. Two nights we were woken up/kept awake by loud campers. First by our neighbours who thought it was ok to keep slamming their car door at 3 am to rebuilt their accommodation. Second night a generator/car engine half way down the field was continuously running for at least 30 at 1am and 3am. Other campers tried to make them stop, but got into a fight. Generally very poor behaviour.

Lovely location and friendly staff

Wilson, Ryan - 12/06/2022

The road leading down to the wild camping is not good for small cars you need a 4x4/off roading vehicle if your are considering doing the wild camping. The staff were extremely lovely and came round to check on you and clean the toilets. Surrounded by a beautiful lake. This experience was ruined for myself and my partner due to a domestic squabble for the whole stay from the tent next to us which lasted all day and night and resulted in the portaloo being destroyed /unusable
