The Oaks lakes at Sessay in North Yorkshire is home to lakes for both match and pleasure fishing. The lakes originally opened in 1994 starting with the Willows lake and over the years it has steadily grown. We currently have 10 lakes with over 400 Pegs, a large café, tackle shop and this year we will be opening a caravan Park in a quiet corner of the lakes so that everyone can come and enjoy the North's most well-known fishing complex.
The 4-acre field is rectangular with a mature wood running along the North West side providing shelter and privacy from the fishing lakes, the North east side faces the Hambleton Hills and the white horse.
A small peaceful, adults only, touring caravan park with supersized hard standing pitches all with their own electrical hook-up, situated in a quiet corner of the fishery but with easy access to the lakes and facilities. Next door to the tackle shop is the Oaks Lakes Cafe which is open everyday, serving cooked breakfasts, bacon sandwiches, panini's, soups, homemade cakes, ice creams and hot and cold drinks.
The Oaks Lakes sit to the North end of the village and are screened with woodland and hedges there are 10 fishing lakes used for many course fishing competitions and featured regularly in the leading angling magazines. The whole area teams with places to go, whether you want to Walk, Cycle or Drive there is plenty to do here is a few: 18 miles away is the ancient walled City of York straight down the A19 approx 35 Minutes. 3 miles will take you to the market town of Thirsk, with its interesting James Herriott Museum. Castle Howard sits thirteen miles from us in the pretty market town of Helmsley.
All pitches are level, supersized hardstanding approx 14m x 12m wide.

We really enjoyed our stay. The facilities and fishing were great and the team we came into contact with were all really friendly, courteous and helpful. We can’t comment on local facilities as we spent our time on the site.
Brilliant location to access the lakes. The accommodation well beyond expectations. Will definitely be returning
I read the reviews before I booked and as I thought! What more do you want for the money it was clean tidy well organised and the most peaceful nights sleep yet! Wonderful size pitches and lovely cycle to the next village for food. Definitely return.
Oaks Lakes was easy to get to via A1. Camp site very clean with everything you need. Excellent tackle shop with very knowledgeable staff. Brilliant cafe too. 10 out of 10.
First of all the owner Sarah is a lovely ladyThe site ! There is only 2 toilets and 2 very small showers in a wooden building, the heater didn’t work in the showers. It was quite busy but not full If it would have been you’d have had problems with showers and toilets!Had constant problems with electric tripping in and out the van even when only set on 1 kw on control panel. We’ve had a very rainy season so around the lakes was very boggy and the grass was not suitable to put awning on……
Thank you for your review, Just to clarify for others reading this there are 2 ladies showers and 2 toilets and 2 men’s showers and toilets, plus disabled, it was a bank holiday so they do get a lot of use when we are full. We have just had all the electrics points certified before opening for the season and all RCD’s renewed, we didn’t have any problems on any of the other pitches? our only explanation could be that you were plugging to many things in as it is only 10amps. In regards to the ground being wet, it has been the an extremely wet March and winter in general so the ground is wet but we have loads of drainage so the campsite drains extremely well.
Our stay was very pleasurable, fishing very good. However, the toilet block let the site down. The shower in the gents kept running freezing cold water without any warning. Most annoying.
Thank you for your review, We are sorry you didn’t report the shower going cold during your stay as we were unaware of the issue with it being the first weekend of opening for the season, we have now rectified the problem. Kind Regards,The Oaks Lakes Caravan Park
Very easily accessible, we just come back from our 3rd visit booked again for a few weeks. This is a small quiet site, close to thirsk 30 mins from York. My husband loves the fishing, must admit I love watching the peace is just what we need, we both have very busy work lives. Not far for us to visit York, Harrogate and Knaresborough, loads for to see and do, definitely recommend.
I just feel at home at the oaks The campsite is so well maintained and kept the staff are so welcoming and friendly and most of all the fishing is brilliant the whole experience is awesome I would recommend the oaks to anyone who does camping and fishing.
Amenities spotless pitches spacious & well kept. Great location for visiting local towns & north York Moors national park probably would have loved it more if we were into fishing.
A LOVELY PLACE TO STAY EASY TO GET TO SO MANY PLACES FROM IT
