The Oaks lakes at Sessay in North Yorkshire is home to lakes for both match and pleasure fishing. The lakes originally opened in 1994 starting with the Willows lake and over the years it has steadily grown. We currently have 10 lakes with over 400 Pegs, a large café, tackle shop and this year we will be opening a caravan Park in a quiet corner of the lakes so that everyone can come and enjoy the North's most well-known fishing complex.
The 4-acre field is rectangular with a mature wood running along the North West side providing shelter and privacy from the fishing lakes, the North east side faces the Hambleton Hills and the white horse.
A small peaceful, adults only, touring caravan park with supersized hard standing pitches all with their own electrical hook-up, situated in a quiet corner of the fishery but with easy access to the lakes and facilities. Next door to the tackle shop is the Oaks Lakes Cafe which is open everyday, serving cooked breakfasts, bacon sandwiches, panini's, soups, homemade cakes, ice creams and hot and cold drinks.
The Oaks Lakes sit to the North end of the village and are screened with woodland and hedges there are 10 fishing lakes used for many course fishing competitions and featured regularly in the leading angling magazines. The whole area teams with places to go, whether you want to Walk, Cycle or Drive there is plenty to do here is a few: 18 miles away is the ancient walled City of York straight down the A19 approx 35 Minutes. 3 miles will take you to the market town of Thirsk, with its interesting James Herriott Museum. Castle Howard sits thirteen miles from us in the pretty market town of Helmsley.
All pitches are level, supersized hardstanding approx 14m x 12m wide.

The staff were very friendly and approachable. Cafe food was very well cooked and hot. There are 10 lakes which are used for competitions and people staying on the camp site. The campsite facilities were lovely and clean, everything for your stay on this site. Half hour cycle into Thirst, 10 minutes by car. Lovely quiet area for our stay and would very much recommend this site.
Once again a really good welcome from Sarah had my usual pitch .The site is well looked after clean and tidy as usual.I'm an angler so it's perfect for me as there are several lakes to fish so I'm in heaven here .The Carlton Inn is close by and serves good food at a fair price .Both York and Thirsk are only a few minutes away .I'll be back next Easter 👍👍
Well maintained site close to Thirsk, great facilities including a cafe well worth a visit
Fantastic place to visit, we had a grass Electric pitch for our tent, which was great value for money. All the people who work there where super helpful, & help to set up even our fishing tackle after the wife decided she want to to try fishing after 40 years. We will definitely be returning.
Tidy clean friendly and great fishing will be back soon do miss the breakfast and of course the Sunday dinner
Excellent site and easily accessible fishing pools. Staff are very friendly and helpful, willing to give advice
Great experience at the Oaks Lakes, has everything you need, very helpful staff also. Very relaxing and quiet atmosphere with stunning lakes dissecting the grounds .
Another returning stay. Good location, clean facilities, lovely and quiet and great fishing
We stayed for a few nights during late August.Location was easily accessible from the A19. The entrance buzzer did not appear to be working so we had to ring. The site was peaceful as you would expect with fishing nearby. The showers were acceptable if somewhat small - the washbasins were in the toilets and were a little cramped - they could both benefit with some extra daily cleaning. The pitches were a decent size but we did find that the small grit used constantly got into our unit.We found that the information regarding nearby eating places needed updating as one pub was closed and another one had stopped serving food. The price was reasonable.Overall we would stay here again if looking to be in this in this area. The best part of our stay was the peace and quiet.
A lovely little site with everything you need. Very peaceful. A cafe on site which we used one morning before a day out in york. Would definitely recommend a visit to oak Inn . Lovely atmosphere and great food.
