The Alders has been developed on historic parkland on a working farm so that visitors can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Yorkshire countryside. The Alders is ideally located to explore the many attractions and beautiful areas in North Yorkshire. With the park's space and tranquility of the landscaped parkland it provides a beautiful environment for your stay.
The Alders have a range of Hard Standing and Grass pitches available with electric hook-up, suitable for touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans. The park also offers the opportunity to stay in your very own pod, they are located in their own landscaped area with plenty of space and privacy. Pods offer visitors the freedom and ambience of traditional camping whilst giving you a higher level of privacy and security and more comfort both inside and out. Alternatively pitches are available for you to bring your own tent.
The Alders has been carefully developed to ensure privacy through internal landscape and imaginative design. Spacious bays housing groups of caravans named after Yorkshire's famous Abbeys and Dales provide privacy with space. Our two shower blocks are centrally located for ease of access to all.
Our standard pod is perfect for families and sleeps up to 2 adults and 2 small children.
The Pod offers you the freedom & ambience of traditional camping whilst giving you a higher level of privacy and security and more comfort both inside & out. Outside there is a decked area at the entrance for dining al fresco, chilling out or if the weather allows-sunbathing! You need to bring everything you normally would for camping apart from the tent.

All very good.Friendly helpful staff.Cafe very good.Blue Bell excellent.Only slight negative - not very user friendly camper van waste water site.
This was my third time staying in the pods with my boys and the first time I brought friends and their kids. We all absolutely love The Alders. The pod area is a beautiful, quiet space and we were made to feel so welcome by the owners. My friends (frequent campers) couldnt believe how great the toilets and showers were, always so clean. We didn’t leave the campsite as we BBQ’d both nights and brought lots of activities for the kids to do.
We absolutely love Alders . Super friendly , perfect setting … room to pitch and play Love that everyone isn’t crammed inFriendly staff always welcoming Supper little cafe on site, best homemade sausage rolls and cake Love that there is no play park or pub Enjoy watching the cricket at a weekend Clean toilets and showers , plenty of hot water Wouldn’t change a thing about it
Every aspect of The Alders was superb.Friendly, attentive and helpful staff.Excellent, clean facilities.Great cafe. Can't wait to return.
It was absolutely amazing we had one of the larger pods, the facilities were great. Was me my partner and 2 children. But we are looking to come back just us adults
We would certainly go again to stay but if there was anything we found as a bit of a negative it was only having 10amp electric box and one of the shower blocks was in definite need of some refurbishment and possibly more toilet & shower facilities . Also may I suggest there be some floor cleaner in mop & bucket in the showers so it’s possible to mop the floor properly. Also maybe a place to put clothes & towel when showering. Just things that would have enhanced our holiday as we struggled to get in the showers when we wanted to unless we got up at the crack of dawn or had one late at night. As I say just things that we noticed that would have improved our stay but it wouldn’t stop us returning as it is a lovely sight and grounds were kept well maintained.
The pod was excellent value and the facilities were first rate. The only amenity missing was a fridge to keep milk and other perishables in. Perhaps one could be added to the laundry area? The site overall was very quiet from early evening. It seemed that many caravan campers were long-term residents. Unfortunately, I was unlucky that people in the pod next to mine used it as a party destination. People came from other parts of the camp and sat out drinking and speaking at full volume until after 11pm. As a lone traveller I didn't feel able to tackle this myself - sometimes people react negatively. I think someone going round to check noise levels in the evening would show that site owners are committed to maintaining a quiet environment for all.
Clean and well maintained site. Staff were friendly and helpful. Gorgeous coffee shop at front of site. Will be back.
Beautiful site with great facilities. We enjoyed watching the cricket on Saturday and the bar staff were super friendly at the club house. Lovely little village and bus into York perfect. Will definitely be back if we're ever in the area again.
I couldn’t fault the site, pitches were huge, staff very friendly and welcoming and we liked the fact that we were guided to our pitch, instead of having to follow instructions. The only reason we won’t return is that being in a Motorhome we tend to rely on public transport once we have set up. There was only one bus every two hours to either York or Thirsk, which was a bit limiting.
