I am pleased to read that you found our site clean and our staff helpful.I do believe a member of my team did her utmost to assist with your breakdown situation whilst on route to us, she even secured you a one night refund. This was in the interest of guest relations and we were in no way obligated to do this.You were not charged high season rates, I am a little confused as to how you believe this and also why you did not bring this up with a member of the team whilst you were with us. Just to clarify;You paid the low season rate of £30 per night for a Premier pitch Plus £5 EHU & £5 Awning therefore £40 per night (cheaper pitches are available) you booked online and chose this pitch yourself - other pitches were available and if asked you would have been welcome to move. High season rate for this pitch is £45 per night EHU included + £5 Awning would be £50 per night. The Farm Maid is an independent business, we have no control over the opening hours. When you booked there was not a tenant in the Café and they did not take over the property until May. We did not promote the café at this point as we were unsure if it would be occupied this season. Unfortunately the Farm Maid has now ceased trading, something which the owner was going through during your visit to us and again out of our hands. I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay with us, however you did not raise any of your concerns with staff members during your stay. Good Morning Will,Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your recent stay with us at Southwinds.We appreciate your positive comments regarding our site and staff.We are in a rural setting in Cornwall and the occasionally the local dairy farmer will tend to his pastures for his cattle.We do state that we are a 20 minute walk from the village and beach, we are unsure as to which route you used to access this as our recommended route (available in reception) does in fact take you across public footpath via Lundynant campsite and fields, it does start on a small lane before you get to the footpath however this is not as busy as the front roadway. We cannot allow campfires on-site for health & safety reasons, as we are on the North Cornish coast we are open to coastal breezes therefore any flying sparks or cinders would be dangerous for tent fabric.I hope this information helps.Kind RegardsJoSouthwinds Manager.
