Six Mile After is a well organised site with both Loch Neagh and the town of Antrim in walking distance. There is no resident site manager, and access to both the site and facilities was with a pin code. This worked pretty well. The toilets and showers were clean and there were clear instructions. The water is heated at certain (published) times but we found it was not always warm enough. There is a beautiful walk around the loch side to one side of the site and along the river in the opposite direction towards town. This path has an open air gym along it, some open field areas and eventually leads into Antrim Castle Gardens over a wee bridge. This is a delightful place to visit and investigate. The town centre is a further 200 yards. The walk along the river is popular with folk and their dogs. Our dogs were also welcome in much of the town. This was our second visit, and although only a stop-over this time, we enjoyed it. Very handy for the International Airport too.
Sadly the electric and water supply is in the wrong position on the pitch. This makes it more difficult to hook up supply.also, there was a limited supply of hot water especially when washing greezy dishes. Site is an excellen safe location. There are plenty of local attractions close at hand.
Lots of local attractions and close to town. Beautiful surroundings.
First time staying at Six Mile Water Caravan Park. Great location for the family. Brilliant playpark. Next to Antrim Castle. Facilities were very clean. Will definitely be back.
The site itself is set out OK, but there are lots of issues….The barrier code we were given didn’t work.It took an eternity to get through on the out of hours number as we arrived on a Sunday, so we were stuck outside the camp. The 12 o'clock departure rule is totally ignored. We arrived at 11:45 am and had been allocated pitch 23, after spending nearly an hour trying to access the site, pitch 23 was still occupied, and the occupants were in no hurry to leave. So we had to park up on the motorhome service point until they eventually finished packing up.The golf course adjacent to the park think its a good idea to send their staff out with petrol leaf blowers to blow the leaves from the golf course onto the camp site at 06:00 am The hot water times are totally wrong, so if you want a shower, its very hit and miss.Laundry facilities all out of orderMidges, and mosquitos are very very abundant and love settling on the van in swarmsWasps everywhereNoise all day and gate l
This is a well equipped and maintained site in a lovely location with a cafe and restaurant nearby. The main irritation is the eleven severe traffic calming bumps on the access roadAlthough there were no staff on site everything worked and the access control system works well.
Great site with great walks in the surrounding areas
We stayed at Six Mile Water Park at Antrim after the Loughshore Park in Jordanstown was closed due to impending Storm Kathleen. Diane, in the Parks Dept, was very flexible and we feel she went out of her way to do help us. Six Mile Water park is a lovely facility on the shore of Lough Neagh. There are lots of walks, play parks and a dog park. You can easily walk into the town although we didn’t due to the storm. There is a new cafe called the Boat House which looked lovely but isn’t dog friendly so we didn’t visit. The facilities are a little dated but there are plenty of showers, loos and dishwashing area. There are a number of pitches so it could get busy as the season goes on but we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.
Pitch opposite us, children constantly kicking football and hit our motorhome on more than one occasion., then the drones started. Both ball games and drones are prohibited but people's disregard for the rules just spoil everyone else's enjoyment. Tumble dryer not working all the time we were there 4 nights. Nice area but there needs to be more warden supervision to keep the unruly in check.
