Cheaper than a Belfast hotel stay!

Mc Closkey, Carlo - 16/10/2024

Site is ideal for visiting the city, with bus service at entrance. Also, excellent cycle path to Carrickfergus. Good facilities, although dish washing sinks are outside, a bit cold! Lovely cafe at entrance gate. Good well spaced hard standing pitches. There would be a lovely view of Belfast Lough from the pitches, if it wasn,t for the hedge along the fence, which now completely obscures the view of the loughside. If only the Council would cut the hedge down to window level! So, Council, can you PLEASE trim the hedge down so that we can see the Lough and the view to the othet side?Regards, Carlo Mc Closkey

Great position, exceptional shower & toilet block

Inight, Steve - 07/10/2024

Perfect spot for visiting Belfast centre, bus stop right outside both ways but be aware they don’t run late, taxi for 4 of us cost £18 back late at night. Pitches are good with water and grey waste on them, very close to the Lough with a decent cafe just at the entrance. You have to accept the site is on the very busy A2 which didn’t bother me too much EXCEPT, there was a broken grate right outside where we were sleeping and every time a truck or bus passed it crashed very loudly. Hopefully it would be mended by the time you visited and not keep you awake but did spoil our stay a little. Other than that it was a good stay and the toilet/ shower block was warm and clean, there was also a laundry room and it’s nice walk along the Lough. Overall a very good spot for visiting Belfast.

Great location, but road noise

Great site with very good links into Belfast or to ferry port.Unfortunately there’s quite a bit of road noise, but that’s the compromise. The pedestrian gate has key code access but won’t ‘lock’

Handy campsite

Lawrenson, Catherine - 28/09/2024

A very hand site for visiting Belfast, Carrickfergus and the Glens of Antrim. All the facilities were spotless at all times and accessed by an individual code (which also operates the gates to the site). The only thing that let it down was on the last day of our first stay our personal code would not work, so we were unable to access the facilities and/ or exit the site. Although help was offered by the cafe outside, their 'emergency code' didn't work either. In the end we had to use the code given to another camper. All this made me extremely nervous for our 2nd stay at the site 3 weeks later as we had to depart early in the morning in order to catch a ferry. Thankfully, we didn't encounter any problems this time round.

very nice campsite. staff in coffee shop very friendly and helpful. Shame about the road noise and if someone could fix the manhole cover on the road opposite mh3 it might help with the noise. thanks for everything. john
