Moss Wood is a fabulous family run caravan park for Holiday Homes, Touring Caravans and Motorhomes, nestled in a tree lined vale near the ancient village of Cockerham, and provides easy access to walks on the coastal path and nearby areas of Natural Outstanding Beauty.

Skelwith Fold's 90 touring pitches for Caravan and Motorhome holidays are scattered throughout a 130-acre woodland site, offering guests the opportunity to cohabit with wildlife, woodland, wetland and fell habitats found within the caravan sites boundaries.

All touring pitches are hard standing, offer electric hook-up and are conveniently located for use of the free toilet and shower blocks. Guests have access to laundry facilities, water standpipes and the reception can offer a gas exchange. There is a well stocked shop, internet access and even a Trust Library.

The park also have available 4 self-contained Hideaways which are located in one of the park’s quietest and most wildlife-friendly spots. These two-berth Hideaways provide a unique ambience that cannot be experienced anywhere else in the Lake District.

Peace and more peace

Roberts, Hazel - 12/05/2022

Camp is quite local to us in terms of distance, but a world away in how peaceful it is! If I could out a plus mark on the ratings for how friendly and helpful the staff all are, how clean everywhere is and how welcoming the whole site is , I would !There's no pub or club so don't go if you want night time entertainment, but plenty of fresh air and relaxation to be had!Loved our stay and can't wait to go back.

Lovely Site

Visited in our Motorhome to spend time with family that have a static home on the site. Was welcomed very warmly on arrival and given details and directions to our pitch. Lovely quiet site with nice walks and husband enjoyed some time with grandkids at the fishing lake. Do need transport if you wish to travel further afield.

Beautiful, well kept site. Had everything we needed. Maybe open a clubhouse as this would be the icing on the cake.

Small pitches

James, Lorna - 04/11/2021

The park is lovely, well kept and spotless, although there is not much for us in the area. We enjoy long walks and the public footpaths are not well sign posted. The pitches are too small, had the weather been better we would not have had anywhere to sit or cook outside our unit because of the next door units being too close.

Two great little adenture playgrounds for the kids, one with a good shelter from which to watch them!

Edwards, Crispin - 04/11/2021

We knew the weather might not be great in october half-term, so somewhere with something for the kids to do was important. The booking form asked if we were bringing an awning and we answered yes, but there wasn't really enough room or soft ground for us to pitch the driveaway awning as we had intended so that we would have somewhere to hang out if it rained all the time, so a bit more clarity on width and surfacing of pitches would help. We were really pleased the camp rang to ask how we were getting on when we were delayed in getting there, and having the shop on site and open every day was good although (perhaps understandably right at the end of the season) the fridges were a little bare. Definitely well looked-after facilities though, which is always the most important thing, and we'd recommend people come and sample this lovely bit of little-known coast.

Lovely Campsite

Brew, Christine - 03/11/2021

We were very pleased with the campsite and facilities. However, we were disappointed that we weren't told in advance about the road closure less than a mile away and of which the staff were aware. This meant that we had to backtrack and thread our way around unfamiliar lanes and villages whilst the SatNav kept trying to take us back to the original route. After wasting so much time (on the only dry day in a week of horrendous weather) we rang the campsite in desperation to hear the lady say, "Yes, we heard about the closure at 10 o'clock this morning and I thought about ringing people to warn them but I couldn't direct them as I don't know the area."That was NOT good customer service. The closure was virtually on their doorstep and they should have warned us. Moss Wood, please note!It was a 10-mile diversion and a lot of this could have been prevented (and time saved from being lost) by our planning a different route in advance.Other than that we enjoyed our stay.
