For nearly 100 years, Little Stainforth has hosted both local and national campers. It is also one of the oldest sites still run by the same family, the Maudsley’s. We are sure you will enjoy your stay at Little Stainforth, and we will do everything we can to ensure that your stay is a pleasant and memorable one. Set in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the park stands on the 45-acre estate of Knight Stainforth Hall, just 2 miles north of the market town of Settle and nestled on the banks of the River Ribble, a manor house dating back to pre-Norman times, which belonged to the Knight Templar.
The Touring Park is open from 1st Mar – 31st Oct and offers 100 touring pitches for Caravans, Motorhomes and Tents. 75 of these are serviced with electrical hook-up points.
The children’s playground and ball games area always go down well with the little ones. Shop with off-license selling basic supplies, camping accessories and gas refills. Games and TV room and an Information room containing brochures and literature on attractions and events in the locality. Some information is available on places of interest further afield, but within easy access of the Park. Fishing is available on site.
The park is not only ideally situated for exploring the dales but is also within easy traveling distance of the Lakes and Herriot Country. The area around Little Stainforth offers many attractions including: Malhamdale including the Cove and Gordale Scar, Settle to Carlisle Railway, The 3 Peaks, Ingleton Water Fall Walk, White Scar and Inglebourgh Show Cave, The Pennine Way, The Lake District, Outdoor Pursuits inc. Horse riding, Walking, Cycling and Climbing.

Lovely clean, well maintained site with very friendly atmosphere. Small shop sells basics. Nice restaurant, bar and pool table room. Adjacent to Stainforth Force waterfall. Good base to explore the Yorkshire Dales, including the Settle-Carlisle railway and Inglenook Trail and Cave which is well worth a visit. Would definitely like to return someday soon.
This was our second stay, apparently it was 8 years since we where here last. Very warm welcome upon arrival and everything explained. The grass pitches with electric hook up are in fine fettle, no holes to contend with. The facilities, wash room and toilets are good however with only three showers it could get hectic when the site is busy, especially on weekends. The day we left a convention was going to be held so the site was filling up.The restaurant is absolutely spot on and the food is very generous and delicious, no faults there. Well worth a visit during your stay. We ate there most evenings. Having a walk round the caravan and campsite, the only niggle we had was when walking round the touring caravans who stay on their pitches for the year, many had weeds growing on the pitches which started to make that area a little untidy. Other than that a ideal base to get into the fine Yorkdale countryside with plenty of walks on hand and magnificent scenery to be enjoyed.
It was clean, tidy and the staff were friendly. Washing up facilities were good. Showers were good but not always hot enough. Our only grumble was that the light in the ladies' showers went off too soon, plunging the area into darkness.Apart from that I would have given it 5 stars - a lovely site, right next to the river Ribble.
Loved it so much... don't want anyone else to go there! 🤣 XxxxX
Very good staff very friendly good value for money
As always we had a fantastic stay. We rang the day before to see if we could check in early which they managed to accommodate. The restaurant/bar staff very welcoming (dogs also welcome)We camped, the pitch was a fab size. Showers and toilets cleaned regularly. Water took I little while to warm up but was lovely when it did. You push a button to set water going, the water could do with staying on longer but that’s a minor issue. We will be back soon.Thank you all again at knights Stainforth 😃
A lovely site in beautiful scenery and a great restaurant where they serve vegan options for my son and his wife
The location, the helpfulness of staff, cleanliness, sizes of pitches. Massive dog walking area . All great
Our U8 rugby team had an unforgettable weekend at Knight Stainforth Campsite! The location is perfect—spacious, safe, and surrounded by stunning scenery. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. The kids loved the open space to run and play, and the nearby river was a big hit for supervised paddling. Evenings around the campfire were a brilliant way to unwind after energetic days. It was the perfect setting for team bonding and making great memories. Highly recommended for youth sports groups!
This site is fab, we’ve been numerous times, great for a river walk into Settle or over the surrounding hills. Lovely bar and restaurant on site, extremely friendly staff, excellent shower, toilet and laundry facilities. Lovely pub in nearby Stainforth and very short walk away.
