Greenacres is a small family-run campsite. The nature of the site is laid-back and relaxed and we expect that all of our visitors behave considerately to other campers, to ensure everyone has a wonderful camping experience. After all you’re on holiday so you want to have a great time!
The campsite is located a stone’s throw from the iconic Symonds Yat and River Wye attractions, and on the edge of the main forest, so you will never be short of fun things to do.
The local area is well served with shops, pubs, restaurants, attractions and activities for all ages.
The campsite has 17 hard-standing pitches and 23 grass pitches all with electric hook-up. We are open for campervans, motorhomes and caravans but recommend that the larger ones pitch on the hard-standing areas.
Part of having a relaxed and fun camping trip is to have modern campsite facilities at your chosen destination.
At Greenacres, we know what our campers want and have been working hard to develop our family-run campsite over the years. We provide all the essential camping facilities on a relaxed campsite.
Campers of all ages are welcome including your fur babies! There are local walks in the woods and a park, 2 minutes walk away to exercise your dog.
Our family-friendly site has an onsite small play area.
Newland is a two minute drive or a short walk along the old Burial Path to find the Ostrich Pub - a quaint old fashioned English Pub.
Symonds Yat Rock with its amazing views and peregrine falcons is only a short drive away and a 3 mile hike through the woods. The site is well serviced with a public footpath running along its boundary.

The facilities were excellent but the countryside was the standout feature. We enjoyed the walk to Coleford but the outstanding walk was to the beautiful village of Newland. A little bit demanding but the reward at the end of the "Cathedral of the Forest" and the Ostrich Inn made it worth the effort. Value for money was excellent.
Thank you for your review and recommendation. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Greenacres and hope to welcome you again in the future.
We had a lovely stay.the pitches are lovely and spacious. Facilities nice and clean. Handy shop and the Friday night pizzas were really tasty. The owners were also very helpful and attentive
Thank you so much for your review and recommendation. It's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay and our pizzas! We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
The value for money was the main reason for choosing Greenacres and came as a great surprise. 2 things I would like to see, a drive over grey waste and a slightly larger parking area near reception if only to protect the grass.
This is a great site in a beautiful location. There is a footpath taking you straight into Coleford and lots of lovely walks and rides straight from the site. Toilets and showers were immaculate and all other areas of the site very well kept. The shop is great for essentials and also has hot drinks, snacks and meals at various times.
Thank you so much for your lovely review and recommendation. It's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay and we hope yo welcome you back in the future.
Campervan stay for three days. Plenty of space in a natural, rural setting. Onsite shop with friendly staff. Nice location for exploring the forest and Wye valley. Entrance drive is quite steep and uneven, but no problem.
Thank you for your review and recommendation. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back.
Site was clean and tidy. Pitches good size. We found lots to do in the surrounding area. We will certainly be back. Staff really helpful and polite.
Thank you for your review and recommendation. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
Stayed for a couple of nights whilst cycling in the forest. Super impressed with the standard of pitch and immaculate washrooms. The on site shop will even cook you up a bacon butty! It's about a 20-25 min walk into town though there are footpaths across the field that may be quicker? Only point for feedback is water points seem to be tucked away though work is ongoing so probably will be installing more? Fire pits are permitted as long as off the ground ... (probably best to book a hard standing/all weather pitch if planning on using one). Will definitely be returning.
Thank you for your review and recommendation. There is a shortcut to town via the local park from the gate at the back of the campsite. There are four water points, which are marked on the map given at check-in, if you have any problems locating anything, we are always happy to help in Reception. Our fire-pits can be used on any pitch, if you are using your own we ask that they are at least 16 inches from the ground in order to avoid burning the grass. It is great to hear that you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back.
Greenacres is well situated for exploring the local area where there is much to see and do. We were staying with the Tandem Club and the area gave us a selection of directions and destinations. The only drawback is that the campsite is high and each ride ended with a stiff climb! The facilities were spotlessly clean and well maintained. I made a couple of suggestions re minor improvements to the site owner (coat hooks in the washrooms and washing up area and shelves or corner baskets to put flannels and shower gel on in the shower cubicles). He assured me that he would have this done by my next visit. I'm sure I will be back so we shall see.
We camped in a small tent, 2 people, taking part in the Tandem Club Easter Rally. Greenacres is a very friendly welcoming site. Nice food at the office! Quiet. A quick walk along lanes into Coleford. Lots of room, nice for tents, plenty of space between pitches. We were at the far end so a bit far from the facilities. It would be nice if there was a toilet - perhaps a hire one? - at the far end. We didn't need or use electricity.Good area for cycling. Lots of interesting industrial archaeology in the area. Many thanks.
I organised a tandem rally here. It is a lovely site with good, clean facilities. It is very tranquil. The staff were excellent.Coleford with plenty of cafes, pubs, take-aways and 3 supermarkets (Co-op, Tesco, Lidl) is a short walk away on a public footpathThe Forest of Dean offers great scenery, ancient castles, plenty of cycling and walking routes, and lots of cafes, pubs and restaurants.
Thank you so much for your review and recommendation. It was a pleasure to host your group and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
