Greenacres is a small family-run campsite. The nature of the site is laid-back and relaxed and we expect that all of our visitors behave considerately to other campers, to ensure everyone has a wonderful camping experience. After all you’re on holiday so you want to have a great time!
The campsite is located a stone’s throw from the iconic Symonds Yat and River Wye attractions, and on the edge of the main forest, so you will never be short of fun things to do.
The local area is well served with shops, pubs, restaurants, attractions and activities for all ages.
The campsite has 17 hard-standing pitches and 23 grass pitches all with electric hook-up. We are open for campervans, motorhomes and caravans but recommend that the larger ones pitch on the hard-standing areas.
Part of having a relaxed and fun camping trip is to have modern campsite facilities at your chosen destination.
At Greenacres, we know what our campers want and have been working hard to develop our family-run campsite over the years. We provide all the essential camping facilities on a relaxed campsite.
Campers of all ages are welcome including your fur babies! There are local walks in the woods and a park, 2 minutes walk away to exercise your dog.
Our family-friendly site has an onsite small play area.
Newland is a two minute drive or a short walk along the old Burial Path to find the Ostrich Pub - a quaint old fashioned English Pub.
Symonds Yat Rock with its amazing views and peregrine falcons is only a short drive away and a 3 mile hike through the woods. The site is well serviced with a public footpath running along its boundary.

Really enjoyed staying in this site, not too big and not too small where nothing is going on, we found it to be the happy medium between them both. Great access to Coleford with a few shops for just about everything you need. We picked this site mostly because it was near the forest of dean itself and is well within riding distance for mountain biking which saves having to travel in the car/van to ride. Site and main building was kept very clean, shop was stocked with essentials if you needed them. If I was to suggest 1 thing, that would be to add a pot wash/toilet/shower facility down the far bottom end of the field to cater to that side of the site as its a bit of a walk up to the main building. I would also like to see pitch boundaries more clearly as our neighbour was disgruntled with our setup upon arrival but we had no idea how much space we were allowed to take but to be fair, the camping field is a decent size to accommodate any size setups.
Thank you so much for your lovely review and for choosing to stay with us – we’re really pleased you enjoyed the balance of the site, the location for biking, and the facilities we provide. We’re sorry to hear you had a bit of an awkward experience with your neighbour. Pitch boundaries are rarely an issue here, but you were unlucky on this occasion. We’ll certainly take on board your suggestion about making pitch areas clearer, as well as your feedback on facilities at the far end of the field – both are helpful points as we continue to improve the site. We’d be delighted to welcome you back for another stay whenever you’re next visiting the Forest of Dean.
A wonderful place to stay while exploring the magnificent Forest of Dean. The staff were all very friendly and the facilities were always clean. Breakfasts from the cafe were amazing! The electric hookup worked well and showers were hot although you do have to press the button quite a few times to get a decent shower, it would be nice if the water ran for a little bit longer each time. Could maybe just do with some more cubicles, especially in the mens. Overall we were very happy though and would definitely go back.
Great site and well placed for the Forest of Dean/Wye valley. Site is clean, pitches spacious. We stayed on a hard standing with electric pitch. Electricity is going to be pay for what you use very soon. All the usual facilities and firepits can be hired from site for reasonable cost. The facilities were always clean. There’s a separate field area for kids to play and also a little toddler playhouse by reception. Hot drink/snacks/breakfast cobs/pastries and essentials available from the on site shop. Pizza on a Friday and another food van visits the site during the week. Symonds Yat Rock is about a 4 mile away and town is about 10-15 minute walk. Plenty of other places to visit close by including Puzzlewood. Overall a ln excellent site and will definitely revisit again to explore more of the surrounding area.
Wonderful, calm and stress free campsite. Facilities were high quality and clean. Great space for kids to play away from tents and vehicles and marked out pitches so no worries about whether there would be a good spot if you're arriving a little late. Would definitely recommend.
Great site once get up steep track. Lovely facilities and great to have a cafe/shop on site. Walkable to Colford.
Brilliant site in a gorgeous part of the world. We hope to be back soon.
Thank you for your review and recommendation - it's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back.
Hi, over all pleasant stay in our Motorhome. One problem occurred when the Mrs inquired where to dump our grey waste from our Motorhome onboard tank. Every campsite we’ve stayed on has a Motorhome service point where the grey waste can be dumped over a drain. The answer she was given was this is never an option and she didn’t know what she was talking about. She returned to the van a little upset and disillusioned. Grey waste disposal is a health and safety requirement and you need to address this problem
Thank you for your feedback and for staying with us in your motorhome. We’re really pleased you enjoyed your stay overall. We’re very sorry that your wife was made to feel this way when enquiring about grey waste disposal. To clarify, while we don’t currently have a drive-over motorhome service point, we do provide facilities for waste disposal on site – one specifically for cartridges, and another where grey waste can be disposed of via a pipe outlet. We’ll be retraining our colleagues on the process in place and ensuring they convey this information more clearly in future. Thank you for making us aware. We are planning a new drive and a drive over disposal/ water fill up point is part of those plans.
Loved our stay at Greenacres! Fabulous site and staff.
Excellent clean, modern facilities on a quite site , town a 10/15 minutes walk through park land.Another field available for dog exercise, with a wood opposite so plenty of places to walk without the need of your car.Staff really helpful and having the breakfast option available was a nice touch if you didn't fancy cooking.Overhaul and very enjoyable, restful break
