PEaceful spot. Felt sorry for the cleaner the day after a group of youngsters had been camping in the field next to the goats. Mud, grass, loos not flushed and full of toilet paper in the ladies area. Probably the same in the mens area. Mud and grass can be understood when it has been so wet. Even youngsters should be able to leave the loo as they would want it to be left for them. There are even advice notices on the doors to tell you what to do etc! Not a negative to our stay just hard on the cleaning lady. She did a good job of clearing up their mess
A little disappointed on arrival as we booked a gravel pitch and confirmed gravel pitch on booking. However when we arrived we were told we had to be moved to a grass pitch… and during our stay a gravel pitch was vacant … apart from that all good
A well kept site. Facilities OK. Pitches OK. Area OK. Nice location if you are happy to drive around. Not so great if you want to walk everywhere. Just OK compared to other available sites (in my opinion!)
Beautifully maintained site. Spotless facilities, friendly welcoming staff
Friendly reception and staff. Very clean and comfortable shower and toilets. The pitch was spacious. Having the option to buy a fire pit was nice for our last evening. Luckily the campsite was quiet because the smoke was pretty bad... As it was end of season we did not have the opportunity to get something from the restaurant. The downside was the poor WiFi after the shower block. With also no mobile reception we had to walk up to the reception to get any signal
Ths site is easy to get to towing a caravan, they can't be held responsible for the poor state of repair of a public A road! Our reception was well organised and friendly. The pitches are well maintaied and the facilities are clean and tidy.It is well situated for exploring the Forest of Dean.
The site grounds and pitches were immaculate and the directions on line were brilliant. Surrounding area is beautiful. Having been to many campsites but in a tent, my only negatives are that the shower block did have a slight smell about them which did make me feel that they were dirty, even though they were not. There was also no information with regards walks, pubs or things to do in the local area. It seems the site was quite new, so maybe this was the reason.Altogether, it was a lovely site, quiet, nice size pitches and the grounds were immaculately kept.
On arrival we were met by a friendly staff member who quickly told us all we needed to know and showed us to our pitch location. There was plenty of space in our allocated hard standing pitch for our campervan and a separate car with no issues hooking up to the electrics. The site is protected with an entry and exit barrier which was re-assuring with the wash, shower and toilet facilities well kept and clean throughout our weekend stay.We chose this campsite for it's location as cyclists we wanted to complete a 100 mile loop around to Abergavenny up Gospels Pass to Hay-on-Wye and back to the campsite. There were a lot of excellent roads to and from the site and we would recommend this location to anybody considering the site and especially cyclist's looking for a base for the weekend allowing you to ride to local villages, towns and climbs.
Clean shower block. Warm welcome.
The camp site was very quiet and well kept going in September probably meant it was a lot quieter than usual. The only issue was no mobile phone signal or WiFi to speak of unless you sat outside the office. Some people may like this!
