Greenacres is a small family-run campsite. The nature of the site is laid-back and relaxed and we expect that all of our visitors behave considerately to other campers, to ensure everyone has a wonderful camping experience. After all you’re on holiday so you want to have a great time!
The campsite is located a stone’s throw from the iconic Symonds Yat and River Wye attractions, and on the edge of the main forest, so you will never be short of fun things to do.
The local area is well served with shops, pubs, restaurants, attractions and activities for all ages.
The campsite has 17 hard-standing pitches and 23 grass pitches all with electric hook-up. We are open for campervans, motorhomes and caravans but recommend that the larger ones pitch on the hard-standing areas.
Part of having a relaxed and fun camping trip is to have modern campsite facilities at your chosen destination.
At Greenacres, we know what our campers want and have been working hard to develop our family-run campsite over the years. We provide all the essential camping facilities on a relaxed campsite.
Campers of all ages are welcome including your fur babies! There are local walks in the woods and a park, 2 minutes walk away to exercise your dog.
Our family-friendly site has an onsite small play area.
Newland is a two minute drive or a short walk along the old Burial Path to find the Ostrich Pub - a quaint old fashioned English Pub.
Symonds Yat Rock with its amazing views and peregrine falcons is only a short drive away and a 3 mile hike through the woods. The site is well serviced with a public footpath running along its boundary.

The site is well maintained, clean & welcoming. We would definitely recommend it.
Lovely friendly campsite in a beautiful location. Staff go above and beyond for you. Always feel so relaxed here and it’s a joyful campsite. The facilities are spotlessly clean, toilets and showers and beautifully kept and have never had to wait for them. Washing and drying facilities spotless and kitchen area makes washing up a joy!Feels safe and secure, staff always available and kept the shop open later when my daughter fell over to get some Savlon. They also do the best milk shakes.Short walk into Coleford down a beautiful track with sheep in the meadow.Booked already for next year
Thankyou for your review! We're so glad you enjoyed staying with us. See you next year!
Beautiful clean site well maintained, helpful friendly staff. Site slightly off the beaten track transport needed if you wish to explore the surrounding area.
Nice location. Clean facilities. Handy onsite shop. The covered benches at the reception area are great, especially for someone like me who was in a small tent. Last year I was able to eat my breakfast sheltered from torrential rain and this year I was able to sit and read while sheltering from the sun until my tent cooled down enough to get in it for the night. It would be helpful if it were possible to order some milk at the shop for collection the following day.
We arrived on motorcycles and pitched two tents . Our stay at Greenacres was excellent. The site was quiet, clean and spacious with spotless facilities. Most importantly, both the owner and staff were genuinely pleasant and welcoming people . Really enjoyed our stay, it was excellent value and would highly recommend it.
This is a hidden gem located in the Forest of Dean and is surrounded by fabulous walks of you have dogs. The site and facilities are excellent and the shop does lovely bacon rolls and pastries for breakfast. The owners and staff are lovely and friendly and I will definitely stay here again, my wife and I had a great stay.
Thank you for your review and recommendation. It's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back.
This is our 4th stay at Greenacres and we have never been disappointed. The staff in reception were very welcoming, explaining everything to us. The facilities are always clean with the being showers are eco friendly. The site is in a good location with easy access to all the that the Forest of Dean has to offer. The back entrance to the site gives an easy 20 minute walk into Coleford. Looking forward to returning again soon. We can thoroughly recommend Greenacres.
Thank you so much for your review and recommendation. It's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.
Tucked away on the Welsh English border. We enjoyed two nights on a very peaceful campsite with generous pitches. A little shop on the site was very convenient for having coffee and even pizza if you like. Huge empty playground area for kids. Very clean toilets and showers. Coleford and Newland easy to walk to through the countryside.
Thanks for your review! We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and do hope to welcome you back
We were born and brought up in the Forest of Dean and are now in our 80s.We love to return for holidays.Greenacres is the perfect place for quiet reminiscing. The site is beautiful and the amenities are spotlessly clean. The owners and staff are so helpful.Nothing was too much trouble for them. They work incredibly hard to create an outstanding holiday environment. We have visited several times, seen the site improved every time and look forward to the next time.Thank you so much Andrew and Maureen.
Thank you so much for your review and recommendation. We are please that you enjoyed your holiday at Greenacres, it is always a pleasure to have you stay onsite and we look forward to welcoming you back.
Found the entrance to the campsite quite tricky in a motorhome as more of a narrow farm track. No bus stop nearby. Facilities were adequate but quite busy. The number of showers/toilets provided for a packed campsite was only just enough. Shop was very useful and food available mornings and evenings.very helpful staff. Very hilly area for cycling but lovely views. Ideally suited for families with young children. No noise policy after 10pm was adhered too.
Dear Kay Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are pleased you enjoyed the quite of the site and had a good stay.We appreciate your feedback about the entrance -we do get all types of vehicles up there, even articulated lorries but I understand that it can feel narrow to those unfamiliar with country roads. That said, we do have plans for a new drive in the near future (certainly before next season), as the current one dates back to when the site was a smallholding. For those using public transport, the nearest bus stop is around a 10-minute walk away, with main bus routes arriving and departing from Coleford, I am sorry that you were not made aware of this and will try to make sure we make this information more readily available. While we're sorry to hear you wouldn't return, we do appreciate that you'd consider recommending us to others. Wishing you all the best in your future travels, and thank you again for your honest feedback.
