Greenacres is a small family-run campsite. The nature of the site is laid-back and relaxed and we expect that all of our visitors behave considerately to other campers, to ensure everyone has a wonderful camping experience. After all you’re on holiday so you want to have a great time!
The campsite is located a stone’s throw from the iconic Symonds Yat and River Wye attractions, and on the edge of the main forest, so you will never be short of fun things to do.
The local area is well served with shops, pubs, restaurants, attractions and activities for all ages.
The campsite has 17 hard-standing pitches and 23 grass pitches all with electric hook-up. We are open for campervans, motorhomes and caravans but recommend that the larger ones pitch on the hard-standing areas.
Part of having a relaxed and fun camping trip is to have modern campsite facilities at your chosen destination.
At Greenacres, we know what our campers want and have been working hard to develop our family-run campsite over the years. We provide all the essential camping facilities on a relaxed campsite.
Campers of all ages are welcome including your fur babies! There are local walks in the woods and a park, 2 minutes walk away to exercise your dog.
Our family-friendly site has an onsite small play area.
Newland is a two minute drive or a short walk along the old Burial Path to find the Ostrich Pub - a quaint old fashioned English Pub.
Symonds Yat Rock with its amazing views and peregrine falcons is only a short drive away and a 3 mile hike through the woods. The site is well serviced with a public footpath running along its boundary.

Lovely place, great facilities, bacon, sausage & egg breakfast batch very tasty. Very friendly clean well run site, great walks, large level hardstanding pitches, will definitely recommend to others & return ourselves.
Lovely place, nice staff, brilliant facilities and big pitches
Toilet & showers were very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The negatives the chemical disposal point could do with a handle on the lid, and some sort of lighting around the park
Facilites very clean, my only gripe would be the lighting once in the shower the lights went off and only came back on if someone came in, as I needed to be up and away early each morning I was showering in the dark. Coming up the slope to the site is very bumpy and muddy this would be the one area that would put me off coming to the site again at this time of year which is a shame as this is a very nice site
Hi Kim Thanks for your feedback. I am pleased to be able to tell you that we have a planning application in for a new track and hopefully this will be approved and the work done over the winter! It will be a more direct route and less steep. I have been trying to tweak the lights in the toilets but it is beyond me - I will have to get my husband to sort it out. We hope to welcome you back!
Very clean site good facilities only thing I can think of that could be improved was the light delay in the toilets could do with being longer especially when you are showering
Thank you for your review and recommendation and we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We are aware of the timer issue with the lights in the shower block and are working to get this sorted asap!
It was a lovely quiet site as we expected. Lovely facilities and exceptionally clean and tidy. Small community shop within walking distance selling day to day essentials. Would recommend Rita's Tearooms for breakfasts and lunches etc... and we had a fantastic evening meal at The Cross Inn public house within walking distance of the site. We would come back and stay maybe in the summer months next time.
Great site. Always well cared for. Pushed for a negative the only thing i can think of is the access road is a bit ropey with lots of potholes. But site is great. Accross the road from forest paths and easy walk to coleford town
Thanks for your feedback! The good news is that the track is top of our winter list and hopefully it will be done before next season. We look forward to welcoming you back!
The site was clean & tidy even though nobody was on site when we arrived we had clear instructions on our pitch. We had some lovely walks through the forest 🌳 being first time camper on our camper van we managed to figure things out. We got a map of the area to walk. Lovely quite site. Showers good plenty hot water. We had a lovely bacon roll from the shop on the day we left. Would have liked to have stayed a few more days but no availability. We will definitely come back for a longer period.
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! It is a shame we were unable to accommodate you for longer but hopefully you will return and investigate the Forest of Dean further.
Lovely site and we enjoyed our short stay, the only thing we would suggest is painting the pitch numbers in white paint as when we arrived in the dark and didn’t have access to a site map we had to walk around with torch to locate the right pitch otherwise a great site
Thank you for your review and recommendation and for your feedback regarding the pitch numbering. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back to Greenacres in the future.
Nice clean loos/showers. Friendly staff and helpful. Good location to explore Forest of Dean. A little pricey but overall a lovely campsite.
