Situated outside the village of Creetown in Wigtownshire, Castle Cary Holiday Park offers guests a quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. The Park has so much to offer, and aims to develop its facilities for guests year after year.

For tourers or motorhomes, choose between a hard-standing pitch with electricity and water connections or a touring pitch with drainage, water and electricity. The Park also has fully serviced hard- standing with grass pitches (some of which permit an awning). Grass pitches are also available for tents or tourers with or without electricity.

For those seeking a more luxury getaway, the Park offers a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all-season holiday homes.

Castle Cary has a fantastic range of on site amenities, including an insulated chalet-style building with showers, toilets, and baby changing facilities. In addition to these, the chalet also houses a disabled-access toilet, a laundry room with sinks and a dishwashing area.

The activities on site are next to none, namely the indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools which add a splash of added fun to your stay (small charge applies). For younger campers, a heated paddling pool is on hand, as well as a playground, crazy golf course, and a games room with pool tables and video games.

At the centre of the holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires. Further to this, a family-run café opens daily onsite and serves breakfasts, meals, snacks, coffees and sweet treats.

On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.

The Park is located within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Reserve, which covers most of South West Scotland and is a testament to the low levels of light pollution attracting Dark Sky enthusiasts worldwide.

Kirroughtree Forest and Visitor Centre sits 5 miles to the north of Castle Cary and is home to the world class 7Stanes mountain bike venue, offering a variety of routes for bikers of all levels, bike shop, endless walking routes and café.

The market own of Newton Stewart is located 7 miles north west of Castle Cary and has a wider range of amenities including supermarkets and a high school. Newton Stewart is known as the ‘Gateway to the Galloway Hills’ providing visitors with thousands of miles of hillwalking in the area.

Quiet night, out of season in a lovely site. Toilets and showers are clean, hot and plentiful. Great location and good base for exploring the area. We wished the restaurant had been open as have heard good things about it. Electric hook ups no issues and very dog friendly. We’ll definitely be back

Lovely site

Gribben, Brenda - 24/10/2025

Lovely site, friendly people, Spacious pitches. Only downside is the grey water disposal. There weren’t any. I refuse to dump waste water into a camping field. The owners need to install proper waste water disposal facilities. Urgently.

Castle Cary

Castle Cary is one of my favourite close to home weekends away. We have a relaxing time there . Nice local walks to go on , weather permitting. Amenities are usually nice & clean and their on suite shower facilities are brilliant. Probably the nicest I’ve been in . I usually eat in the Lairds inn if I’m not cooking . This is in the site . Food doesn’t disappoint

We stayed on the non electric grass pitch. Nobody else camping on there it was perfect!! Very friendly residents on site who made us feel very welcome. The downside - pub very limited hours which id of thought being the only.pub left in the village it would be open more. The showers are pretty annoying, can't choose your own temp plus it's on a push button which lasts seconds, the water gets scorching hot and the rooms aren't that warm so when the water goes off its freezing. Apart from that the bathrooms are clean

Holiday break

Wilmot, Elaine - 12/10/2025

Although the site was easy access which suited us, I do feel that the site could be improved. The disabled facilities are not good, no suitable lock on door, and floor floods when showering . Overall the whole facilities need a thorough upgrade, especially the ladies toilets. Better ground access to the chemical toilet area would be great. We did report regarding the disabled toilet to reception whilst we were there.

Our stay at Castle Cary holiday park.

Lee, Caroline - 25/09/2025

Loved our stay, there’s hundreds of rabbits everywhere. There was a red deer who seemed to regularly visit eating the vegetation by the castle, such a wonderful site. The setting is lovely with a large lake in the middle of the park.Lots of swans ducks Moore hens active on a very healthy lake.Facilities on site are ok good shower areas. The bus stop is a ten minute walk.Amazing restaurant on site called the Lairds inn food was excellent and great friendly staff. The only criticism is the park advertise a crazy golf, it was full of water like a fish pond as had no attention for a long time. The park is a bit scruffy around the edges trees falling down all over the place, the grounds could do with some tender loving careYour brochure photos make the park look totally different to how it looks now. This would put a lot of people off coming again. It wouldn’t put me from returning but seroneeds a tidy up.

Aimed at the holiday home owned rather than the tourer

Downie, Sue - 18/09/2025

Excellent toilets and showers. We also appreciated being able to use the facilities the Lairds Inn.But the unmanned reception when we arrived felt very impersonal . Also as the EHU had tripped, we had to source help from other people staying on the site . Although we subsequently understood we could have phoned for help, having onsite staff and a more personal service would have improved our stay
