Situated outside the village of Creetown in Wigtownshire, Castle Cary Holiday Park offers guests a quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. The Park has so much to offer, and aims to develop its facilities for guests year after year.
For tourers or motorhomes, choose between a hard-standing pitch with electricity and water connections or a touring pitch with drainage, water and electricity. The Park also has fully serviced hard- standing with grass pitches (some of which permit an awning). Grass pitches are also available for tents or tourers with or without electricity.
For those seeking a more luxury getaway, the Park offers a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all-season holiday homes.
Castle Cary has a fantastic range of on site amenities, including an insulated chalet-style building with showers, toilets, and baby changing facilities. In addition to these, the chalet also houses a disabled-access toilet, a laundry room with sinks and a dishwashing area.
The activities on site are next to none, namely the indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools which add a splash of added fun to your stay (small charge applies). For younger campers, a heated paddling pool is on hand, as well as a playground, crazy golf course, and a games room with pool tables and video games.
At the centre of the holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires. Further to this, a family-run café opens daily onsite and serves breakfasts, meals, snacks, coffees and sweet treats.
On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.
The Park is located within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Reserve, which covers most of South West Scotland and is a testament to the low levels of light pollution attracting Dark Sky enthusiasts worldwide.
Kirroughtree Forest and Visitor Centre sits 5 miles to the north of Castle Cary and is home to the world class 7Stanes mountain bike venue, offering a variety of routes for bikers of all levels, bike shop, endless walking routes and café.
The market own of Newton Stewart is located 7 miles north west of Castle Cary and has a wider range of amenities including supermarkets and a high school. Newton Stewart is known as the ‘Gateway to the Galloway Hills’ providing visitors with thousands of miles of hillwalking in the area.

This was an out of season break. Not all facilities were available throughout the stay! There was also a lot of refurbishment works being carried out which I’m sure will improve the 25 Season Indoor pool was open and clean and tidy but again heating in the changing rooms was being replaced so was cold We will probably come back next year to experience the new facilities The local area has lots to offer would recommend a visit to Garlieston a hidden gem !
Very clean facilities. Good views and walks. Recommend both museums in Creetown within easy walking distance. Good pub food at the Laird's Inn but definitely book in advance.
We enjoyed our stay at Castle Cary Holiday Park. We stayed in a tent with an EHU, and the spots were large and everything was very convenient. Toilets were clean and convenient due to the layout of the toilet/shower stalls. The kids enjoyed playing at the nearby playpark, biking and swimming in the pool. We also had a campfire, which was great. Loads of midges, but that is to be expected in the summer season!
Very clean site friendly staff and great facilities
Nice and clean, lovely location. Staff very helpful
Lovely park with excellent amenities and toilet block was lovely and clean will visit again
The site’s accessibility and the location is fabulous, all the staff are helpful and friendly and the amenities are good. The lairds Inn is outstanding with regards to the décor, food staff and good value for money. My only criticism is the cleanliness to the toilet/shower facilities. The outside of the block needs to be cleaned and swept, especially the steps and also the inside of the block requires more care being taken/attention to detail ,when they are cleaned. The facilities I would have thought, would be cleaned every day, but this didn't seem to happen.I loved this site and ir was good, but with more attention to details all around this site. it could be outstanding.
Stayed in a tent, got there after the office was closed so just went to the field and set up. Didn't see another soul for a while until a couple were walking their dog later. £25 is a bit steep for a tent stay but I wanted decent toilets and showers, which were top notch. Shower room like a hotel bathroom.
Lovely warm welcome from the Warden who drove us down to where we were going to be pitched. Then let us choose which pitch we wanted. Lovely setting with the Castle perched above us. The site wasn't that busy so it was lovely and quiet. Loved the shower/toilet building with the individual cubicles in a unisex style. It meant me and my partner could go over together. Loved the bunnies and the naughty birdies who wouldn't let us leave! Wish we could have stayed longer and made more use of the on-site facilities but we had plans and tickets booked for Glasgow. Lovely restaurant down the road as well. Would definitely recommend this lovely pretty site.
