Situated outside the village of Creetown in Wigtownshire, Castle Cary Holiday Park offers guests a quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. The Park has so much to offer, and aims to develop its facilities for guests year after year.

For tourers or motorhomes, choose between a hard-standing pitch with electricity and water connections or a touring pitch with drainage, water and electricity. The Park also has fully serviced hard- standing with grass pitches (some of which permit an awning). Grass pitches are also available for tents or tourers with or without electricity.

For those seeking a more luxury getaway, the Park offers a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all-season holiday homes.

Castle Cary has a fantastic range of on site amenities, including an insulated chalet-style building with showers, toilets, and baby changing facilities. In addition to these, the chalet also houses a disabled-access toilet, a laundry room with sinks and a dishwashing area.

The activities on site are next to none, namely the indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools which add a splash of added fun to your stay (small charge applies). For younger campers, a heated paddling pool is on hand, as well as a playground, crazy golf course, and a games room with pool tables and video games.

At the centre of the holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires. Further to this, a family-run café opens daily onsite and serves breakfasts, meals, snacks, coffees and sweet treats.

On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.

The Park is located within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Reserve, which covers most of South West Scotland and is a testament to the low levels of light pollution attracting Dark Sky enthusiasts worldwide.

Kirroughtree Forest and Visitor Centre sits 5 miles to the north of Castle Cary and is home to the world class 7Stanes mountain bike venue, offering a variety of routes for bikers of all levels, bike shop, endless walking routes and café.

The market own of Newton Stewart is located 7 miles north west of Castle Cary and has a wider range of amenities including supermarkets and a high school. Newton Stewart is known as the ‘Gateway to the Galloway Hills’ providing visitors with thousands of miles of hillwalking in the area.

Good site

Hemphill, Alan - 11/07/2025

The site was nice, good location and the shower facilities were very clean and very good. The play park was a bit run down and the mini golf was unplayable but the inside and outside pools were very good.

Fabulous campsite in a really convenient location

Joyce, John - 06/07/2025

We were in a motorhome and opted for a nonelectric hookup and were directed to a big grass field that was fabulous and quiet. It was a short walk to the unisex shower block which must've had about ten showers. The water was perhaps too hot and it was very warm inside the shower block. The chemical toilet waste disposal was to the rear of the shower block, as were sinks to wash up if needed. Note: The restaurant on site is really good but you need to reserve your table in advance. We had a lovely meal there: steak pie and a flying Scotsman. Massive portions and good food, reasonably priced - perhaps becoming expensive. It was about £5 a pint in the bar.

It was easy to book on line, I was kept upto date with information and the facilities are good. Shower block particularly good. Clean and warm. Having a pub on site was a bonus and overall we enjoyed our nights stay.

Fantastic family fun

Hannan, Kirsty - 03/07/2025

5

We stayed for 2 nights with 3 kids and 2 dogs and they all had an absolute ball. We stayed on the non electric field which was pretty quiet so the dogs and kids had great fun running around. The pool and arcade were massive hits and toilet facilities were lovely and clean. Will definitely be back again, hopefully this time we will be able to sample the pub 🤣

Very lovely campsite with excellent facilities. The pub and restaurant are super and the setting is beautiful and peaceful. Very few midges too! We had such a lovely time.

Homan, Juliet - 03/07/2025

Very good campsite. Excellent showers and the hookup with individual water tap is a great amenity. Plenty of privacy and in a lovely peaceful woodland setting. The rabbits are lovely. Pub is super, live musician was a lovely treat, and the pub is up on a little hill far away enough from the camping and it’s a quiet gentle pub so it wouldnt disturb if you were having an early night. Fab food in the pub, recommend booking to eat here. We didn’t use the pool but it’s a fantastic amenity for kids. Lots of space for kids to run around and playgrounds and indoor games, and it’s a lovely natural setting. We have recommended this site to friends who plan to visit soon with their grandkids.

Could be better

Liversidge, Dorothy - 02/07/2025

Shop and cafe clean and stocked essentials. Site difficult to navigate and find pitch. Toilet and shower block unisex and always full of teenagers hanging out. Not much privacy. Also had to come out of toilet with wet hands as wash basin in toilet but hand driers outside. Site appeared run down and animals listed not found. Lake overgrown. Booked for one night on way home. Petrol station nearby with cheap fuel. Local grocery store in Creetown.

Good spot just off A75 but you wouldn't really know it

McAdam, Sarah - 18/06/2025

4

Last night of our holiday, weather wasn't brilliant but we made use of the lovely warm indoor pool which we had to ourselves, we also are at the lairds inn, food was good and not overpriced for what we got. Would definitely stay again. It not far for us to go for a weekend either. Handy if you were coming over from Ireland or heading that way.

Great location!

Bailey, Neil - 17/06/2025

We stayed at Castle Cary in mid June where we found it very quiet. Great site with lots of well maintained pitches for vans or just camping. Very dog friendly with plenty of walks near by.Our only down side were the bathroom facility’s which were small cubicles with little room and very small sinks. Adequate though.Shop was well stocked with friendly staff and having a really good pub on site was great!
