Situated outside the village of Creetown in Wigtownshire, Castle Cary Holiday Park offers guests a quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. The Park has so much to offer, and aims to develop its facilities for guests year after year.
For tourers or motorhomes, choose between a hard-standing pitch with electricity and water connections or a touring pitch with drainage, water and electricity. The Park also has fully serviced hard- standing with grass pitches (some of which permit an awning). Grass pitches are also available for tents or tourers with or without electricity.
For those seeking a more luxury getaway, the Park offers a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all-season holiday homes.
Castle Cary has a fantastic range of on site amenities, including an insulated chalet-style building with showers, toilets, and baby changing facilities. In addition to these, the chalet also houses a disabled-access toilet, a laundry room with sinks and a dishwashing area.
The activities on site are next to none, namely the indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools which add a splash of added fun to your stay (small charge applies). For younger campers, a heated paddling pool is on hand, as well as a playground, crazy golf course, and a games room with pool tables and video games.
At the centre of the holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires. Further to this, a family-run café opens daily onsite and serves breakfasts, meals, snacks, coffees and sweet treats.
On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.
The Park is located within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Reserve, which covers most of South West Scotland and is a testament to the low levels of light pollution attracting Dark Sky enthusiasts worldwide.
Kirroughtree Forest and Visitor Centre sits 5 miles to the north of Castle Cary and is home to the world class 7Stanes mountain bike venue, offering a variety of routes for bikers of all levels, bike shop, endless walking routes and café.
The market own of Newton Stewart is located 7 miles north west of Castle Cary and has a wider range of amenities including supermarkets and a high school. Newton Stewart is known as the ‘Gateway to the Galloway Hills’ providing visitors with thousands of miles of hillwalking in the area.

Lovely big site, warm clean shower block, helpful staff,indoor/outdoor pool, lovely wee cafe where u can sit in or takeaway, wee shop in cafe selling everything you would need for ur holiday.our second time staying on this site and we will definitely be back soon.
Campsite is in a great location, but the facilities are old and a bit unloved. Grass in the camping field was very long and access point for the car was muddy and waterlogged. Quite a long walk to the facilities and dishwashing area from the camping field. Showers are newer than toilets but either need more regular cleaning or provision of a mop/squeegee for the floors so they don’t get filthy throughout the day - also no mirrors in the shower block which would be useful!Overall an average campsite, nothing terrible but nothing to write home about!
Fab wee site very friendly ,toilet /shower block spotless ,altogether a great weekend
This was my first trip ever with my little tourer, and it was all made plain sailing, (special thanks to Donald who met me and showed me to my pitch, and told me to call him should I need help with anything, everything was pretty straight forward tho)Just a thought,,could you not do a discount for smaller vans with single occupancy? Other much larger vans with families or friends are paying the same price as I was, and using more services and amenities. That would definitely be a factor of my returning.Overall everything else was very acceptable, services easy to access and use, toilets and showers very clean. The other gripe I had was that the festival itself told me via facebook who was on each day, but, no times (even approximately would have sufficed).
Good level pitches, facilities are good, did not use the cafe or restaurant this time but have used both previously. Only fault I have is the walk through the woods to Creetown could use some maintenance. If using the fully serviced pitches remember to take a length of drain hose.
Very friendly site, staff and holidaymakers alike. Camp field was great although grass a little long, but the wet weather will have hampered any regular cutting so not a big deal. If camping I would recommend staying inwards towards the rest of the site as the A75 runs alongside and can get a little noisy.Toilets very clean and warm, showers were lovely, good refuse facilities and chemical waste disposal. Was only there one night for a festival so didn’t really use the other facilities but they all looked to be inviting and well cared for. Bit of a trek on foot from the campsite down to reception but again, no biggie.I will definitely return next year and look to stay for the full festival weekend but next year I think I’ll bring my bigger tent with EHU and porta loo for personal comfort, didn’t see the point for one night this year though. I would definitely recommend Castle Cary to anyone looking to explore our beautiful region of D&G, or to just enjoy a relaxing break.
Our first time and will definitely be back. Very well run site. All the staff were so friendly.Facilities were immaculate. My daughter loved all the animals.
We spent a night here in our motorhome before taking the ferry to Belfast. the site was clean and pleasant but unfortunately the bar/restaurant and cafe are only open on certain days, which didn't happen to be when we stayed. Having driven several hundred miles we had been rather looking forward to a bit to eat.
The shower and toilet block was fabulous! Better than the bathroom at home! Lovely and warm! Good stop on way to Stranraer , for the ferry to Northern Ireland!
It was our 3rd visit and the new hard standings are very good.
