Situated outside the village of Creetown in Wigtownshire, Castle Cary Holiday Park offers guests a quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. The Park has so much to offer, and aims to develop its facilities for guests year after year.

For tourers or motorhomes, choose between a hard-standing pitch with electricity and water connections or a touring pitch with drainage, water and electricity. The Park also has fully serviced hard- standing with grass pitches (some of which permit an awning). Grass pitches are also available for tents or tourers with or without electricity.

For those seeking a more luxury getaway, the Park offers a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all-season holiday homes.

Castle Cary has a fantastic range of on site amenities, including an insulated chalet-style building with showers, toilets, and baby changing facilities. In addition to these, the chalet also houses a disabled-access toilet, a laundry room with sinks and a dishwashing area.

The activities on site are next to none, namely the indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools which add a splash of added fun to your stay (small charge applies). For younger campers, a heated paddling pool is on hand, as well as a playground, crazy golf course, and a games room with pool tables and video games.

At the centre of the holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires. Further to this, a family-run café opens daily onsite and serves breakfasts, meals, snacks, coffees and sweet treats.

On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.

The Park is located within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Reserve, which covers most of South West Scotland and is a testament to the low levels of light pollution attracting Dark Sky enthusiasts worldwide.

Kirroughtree Forest and Visitor Centre sits 5 miles to the north of Castle Cary and is home to the world class 7Stanes mountain bike venue, offering a variety of routes for bikers of all levels, bike shop, endless walking routes and café.

The market own of Newton Stewart is located 7 miles north west of Castle Cary and has a wider range of amenities including supermarkets and a high school. Newton Stewart is known as the ‘Gateway to the Galloway Hills’ providing visitors with thousands of miles of hillwalking in the area.

My family and I spent my birthday there a was not disappointed at all. The site is beautiful and clean. We took our 9 month grandson swimming, which he really enjoyed. On our first night we went to the smokehouse which is a very short drive from the site. We had our breakfast in the cafe perfect, we even used the games which was so much fun. Near the cafe there are 2 donkeys, very friendly oh an they love polo mints lol. On my birthday we went to the The Lairds Inn, oh my the best carvery we has ever had, beautiful fresh food. On one of the days we drove to Girvan which was around 50 mins to get there but was worth it, spent all day there. On our last day there we went for a walk through creetown where we found a little park for my grandson. I will definitely be visiting again and have already to friends,

First time in our roof tent

Taylor, Daniel - 16/04/2024

My Son and I had our first experience with our roof tent on Thursday 11th April 24. We were a little late getting to the campsite as my lad has a bladder like a kinder egg and the drive from Barnsley required two toilet stops. Anyway, we had a phone call from a very pleasant lady who emailed me instructions about the site and provided a map to the grass pitch field. Due to the rain the field was very wet but still sturdy enough to support my van. After a bit of wrestling with the wind we got the tent up and the awning and had a great nights sleep. The facilities were very modern and very clean and the site itself was immaculate. The staff we encountered were very friendly. If we are ever in the area again (which is likely as we race mountain bikes) we'll be staying at Castle Cary. Excuse the state of the roof tent in the pictures it was a tad windy :)

Tired

McPhee, Guy - 05/04/2024

Some basic maintenance would benefit this site, the fishing on site could be improved with basic information, crazy golf was a mess, a lick of paint and a tidy up and would be good to go, bins overflowing, too many pitches crammed in together, toilet block is immaculate, on site bar/restaurant was good.

A lovely friendly welcome on arrival , very laid back yet professional.Directed us to our pitch, thoughtfully placed next to the play park as we were travelling with 3 young children.Site accepted our very large motorhome (some parks panic when they see us pull up - 30m American RV)No problems Only 1 issue was the old bits of metal sticking out of the ground in the play park 😬
