Situated outside the village of Creetown in Wigtownshire, Castle Cary Holiday Park offers guests a quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. The Park has so much to offer, and aims to develop its facilities for guests year after year.
For tourers or motorhomes, choose between a hard-standing pitch with electricity and water connections or a touring pitch with drainage, water and electricity. The Park also has fully serviced hard- standing with grass pitches (some of which permit an awning). Grass pitches are also available for tents or tourers with or without electricity.
For those seeking a more luxury getaway, the Park offers a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all-season holiday homes.
Castle Cary has a fantastic range of on site amenities, including an insulated chalet-style building with showers, toilets, and baby changing facilities. In addition to these, the chalet also houses a disabled-access toilet, a laundry room with sinks and a dishwashing area.
The activities on site are next to none, namely the indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools which add a splash of added fun to your stay (small charge applies). For younger campers, a heated paddling pool is on hand, as well as a playground, crazy golf course, and a games room with pool tables and video games.
At the centre of the holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires. Further to this, a family-run café opens daily onsite and serves breakfasts, meals, snacks, coffees and sweet treats.
On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.
The Park is located within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Reserve, which covers most of South West Scotland and is a testament to the low levels of light pollution attracting Dark Sky enthusiasts worldwide.
Kirroughtree Forest and Visitor Centre sits 5 miles to the north of Castle Cary and is home to the world class 7Stanes mountain bike venue, offering a variety of routes for bikers of all levels, bike shop, endless walking routes and café.
The market own of Newton Stewart is located 7 miles north west of Castle Cary and has a wider range of amenities including supermarkets and a high school. Newton Stewart is known as the ‘Gateway to the Galloway Hills’ providing visitors with thousands of miles of hillwalking in the area.

Last night of our holiday, weather wasn't brilliant but we made use of the lovely warm indoor pool which we had to ourselves, we also are at the lairds inn, food was good and not overpriced for what we got. Would definitely stay again. It not far for us to go for a weekend either. Handy if you were coming over from Ireland or heading that way.
We stayed at Castle Cary in mid June where we found it very quiet. Great site with lots of well maintained pitches for vans or just camping. Very dog friendly with plenty of walks near by.Our only down side were the bathroom facility’s which were small cubicles with little room and very small sinks. Adequate though.Shop was well stocked with friendly staff and having a really good pub on site was great!
We had a great time at Castle Cary. It’s a beautiful place, the people and staff were very friendly and welcoming too. We will definitely be back.
Amazing people, amazing place, quiet and beautiful, got everything you can imagine, cheap and nice food, facilities are new to compare with other sites, everything you want can find even around the place.. will always go back again and again.. would recommend to everyone with family or friends,in caravan or tent still will be unforgettable place.
We had only one night here, because we were on the way to the ferry Cairnryan to Larne.
Over all a nice park with friendly staff however it needs some money invested. A walk around site the campground electric and none electric field is lovely the castle is beautiful.Staff are friendly and helpful couldn’t fault them. However some facilities need updating only small things arcade had some broke games. Static side of park looked a little worse for wear when we walked round . But over all worth a trip. Toilet and shower facilities were spot on .
The site presented well and was clean. The on-site pub was lovely with friendly staff and excellent food. The site staff however weren’t so approachable. It may have been down to age or inexperience but a visit to the pool felt like stepping into a scene of mean girls. Staff would huddle and give you the impression you were being laughed at or talked about. The facilities were good but a little tired and the control over numbers in the pool appeared sporadic.
A beautiful campsite. The proximity to Galloway Forest Park is ideal for hiking. There are many attractions nearby, and if you're a good walker, they can be reached by hiking or by bike. The sanitary facilities are in good condition but need to be cleaned more frequently. It would be useful to have more than one drinking water point for grass pitch users.
When we arrived every was great. Come 7pm a bunch off clampits arrived on pitch 100/101. Nothing but noise and kids running around. They left at 8pm Sunday night and their 2 pitches were just strewn with rubbish and dog muck
