At the heart of picturesque Upper Wharfedale, not far from the source of the river, our working farm in the village of Buckden is owned by the National Trust and has been tenanted by us, Garry and Gillian Schofield, since 1994.
We provide camping at two locations around the farmhouse hub facilities; a Certified Location Caravan & Camping Club site with hard standing for five units accessed through the Yorkshire Dales National Park Car Park, meadowland tent pitches close to the river Wharfe and Dales Way footpath behind the farmhouse, and four comfortable, heated family Camping Pods.
With stunning walks to take your breath away, we promise you fresh air and fun. Waterfalls, limestone wonders, secluded ghylls are on hand along with a host of tourist attractions to visit within easy driving distance, so there is always plenty to see and do.
Just off the Dales Way, against a backdrop of steep, untamed hillside and within sight of the River Wharfe in its infancy as it winds down through picturesque limestone scenery dotted by ancient stone barns and drystone walls, this simple site is a perfect place to pitch up and revel in the glory of Wharfedale.
Our separate heated shower pod and pot wash area comes with a power shower and 2 w/c’s. There is further w/c, shower and pot wash facility available in the farm yard along side our camping kitchen which provides a fridge, freezer and kettle for your use.
Introducing our heated camping pods - No more flapping guy ropes and crawling under wet canvas, this is glamping! Each pod sleeps up to 5 people, for the ultimate in easy camping. Spacious and secure, the pods are insulated wooden huts which provide warm and cosy accommodation whatever the weather. The roofing material is designed to eliminate noise and enhanced by natural sheep wool insulation, it ensures the pod is warm in cold weather and cool when it gets hot!
Just bring what you’d normally bring for camping – except the tent! Cook outside* and enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner on the decking while you admire the fabulous view and enjoy the glory of the dale around you.
Our two acre site with a gentle slope offers five pitches suitable for Camper Vans and we can also take two caravans, all with electric hook-ups.
In a stunning setting at the bottom of a picturesque ghyll walk, this simple site is a haven for anyone wanting to escape the hurly burly of town or suburb life and get close to nature. The surrounding hills are breath-taking and this spot is your springboard to exploring a world that is truly unspoilt by the passage of time. (You do need to be a Camping & Caravan Club member to camp on this part of the site, but you can always join through us when you arrive for your stay)

Stayed for two nights at Buckden Camping. Great facilities, free tea and coffee for campers, use of fridge and freezer. Good clean loos and showers. Nice level pitches and great pub for food across the road. Excellent position on Dales Way and Wainwright Pennine Journey
The fantastic situation of the campsite is the first thing that strikes you; views all around and prime village location. Great facilities and we liked the fact that the tent field is car free, using wheelbarrows to transport our belongings to the well defined and generous sized pitch. The owner came to see us after we had pitched our tent and gave us an information sheet. We used the freezer for our ice packs but there was also access to a fridge, microwave and a 'tea station'We stayed for 4 nights but the site was well used by walkers on several of the long distance paths carrying their heavy packs and staying overnight. The site wasn't busy when we were there, which we enjoyed! We walked each day from the site, and used the local bus to go to Kettlewell and then walked back. We also did longer walks, looping round to Hubberholme and Cray Good food and drink at the Buck Inn across the road.We will definitely go back and explore more of the area.
Great campsite, location. Facilities, owners. It was really perfect, everything you need and a nice atmosphere. The village is great for walking and the pub is big and hospitable. Would 100% return.
We have been to Buckden Camp site a couple of times now. We stay in the pods. The communal toilets and shower are always clean. It is in a beautiful location and it is a nice little escape from the stress of day to day life! Hosts are extremely friendly and welcoming. I 100% recommend Buckden Camping. You won’t regret it!
What a lovely place to stay , very clean , brilliant for families, we stayed in one of the pods , we was very impressed., definitely coming back .
All very good. Small friendly site, plenty of pre information from owner about the visit which was nice. All in all only a short stay but very happy
Great little camping spot with very clean facilities, lovely host on the farm too, she does a top job making you feel welcome !
Excellent. All very clear.
My third stay here (and the latest in the year!). A lovely campsite in a beautiful corner of the world. The campers' kitchen is a great touch.
We stayed here for the last 2 night of our camping roadtrip, having changed our plans from ending in the Peak District to here.....and we're so glad we did. The campsite was so lovely, Gill the owner was adorable, toilets and shower were great, the shower especially! Gorgeous location, gorgeous local pub with incredible food. Could not recommend Bucken camping enough. Only a short drive from Skipton but literally in the middle of nowhere which was just idyllic. Thank you so much for having us!
