Akebar Park has been run by the same family for over 50 years and is a family-friendly touring site, ideal for touring caravans and motorhomes, with plenty of space for children to enjoy and with outstanding views over the open countryside.
Akebar Park's touring site is a great space for your family holiday, offering grass pitches with electric hook-up, along with a well-equipped children’s play area. The touring field has toilets and showers, washing up areas and chemical waste disposal facilities. We have an onsite shop with basic supplies, and larger supermarkets are located within just a 10-minute drive from Akebar. What’s more, our staff are always on hand to help you have an amazing time – so it’s really no wonder that we’re considered one of the best holiday parks in Yorkshire!
We are an award-winning park and have been awarded the David Bellamy Conservation Gold Award by the British Holiday & Home Parks Association. The award shows that as a park we have taken steps to manage our land as a haven for wildlife; reduce our use of energy and water; reduce, reuse and recycle the waste we produce and support our local community. We have also featured in the Top 100 Sites in recent years.
All customers must report to reception on arrival, where we will be happy to check you in and let you know where your pitch is. Our wardens will be on hand to guide you and help you settle in. Our guests always enjoy their stay here, as we’re an ideal base for walking, cycling and fishing.
Located next to the 12th Century, St. Andrews Church.
This area of the park is only for touring caravans and motorhomes and offers spacious hardstanding pitches with 16 amp electric hook up. It is a very flat area, making pitching up hassle free. Overlooking the fields, you may see a sheep or two!

I have looked forward to our stay for months, found the site to cramped not enough room between caravans. Also people not respecting other campers playing music late and gathering outside drinking. Our end not to bad after 11pm but the seasonal caravaners continued until after midnight those just over from amenity block. The staff were lovely and we enjoyed our time in pub having a lovely meal very polite. I would return for midweek break next year but weekends are a bit rowdy more so when you have worked all week you just want to relax. Maybe if you could have a adult only part like more sites are doing now and charge a little extra for this for future for those who just want a little more peaceful stay .
Lovely place to stay. Our 2nd time here. Facilities great and ideal for people with dogs. Restaurant on site is absolutely gorgeous and dog friendly too. Showers clean and well keptI will definitely be returning next summer
We spent a lovely weekend at Akebar Park, the caravan was great and had everything you could wish for. The only downside were the steps to get up to the caravan, my dad has mobility issues and there are 5 steps with a hand rail that is not very easy to hold on to. Having said that, we still had a fantastic time and would recommend anyone with better mobility to pay a visit. The park is lovely and the surrounding area is amazing.
Brilliant caravan & location, very helpful staff, quite site. Great time had by all thank you
A great site. The touring part is quite small now. Very well kept and the toilet and shower block is well kept and often cleaned. Nice flat pitch with elecs.
Akebar lovely location, no reception on ee mobile network o2 worked better, shame shower block let it down massively water everywhere apart from where it should be! next door cubicle water flooding into your space not nice, used golf, basketball and table tennis facilities every day and there were glasses from the friars head there same ones two days on a row, should be plastic glasses if taking out of the pub/restaurant. Sounding negative but don't want to be harsh it's a lovely clean well kept site apart from toilet/shower block these were cleaned the best they could just plumbing needs sorting, and I would return x
We stayed bank holiday weekend and everything was brilliant. Caravan was spotlessly clean, very impressed. Everything has been thought of in the caravan. Clothes airer, Hoover, air fryer, wine glasses AND flutes, ironing board and iron, hairdryer…literally everything you could need. Staff were fab, onsite pub is fantastic. We had a lovely meal one night. Fish pie was beautiful. Will be returning very shortly.
Good value beautiful clean caravan and surrounds
kids hanging around toilets all day and night
Well set out site for touring , well spaced plots.. no road noise, safe for kids to play.Pub at entrance .. nice and clean but can be pricey especially for pizzas which are not worth it (£15 for a margarita) The toilet block needs updating .. what you see at eye level is cleaned most mornings but lots of dust and cobwebs on windows and up a height . The Elsan point is poor .. no flush and very smelly as well as no door from the elements . Plenty of washing up sinks but again area needs a refresh .Enjoyed stay but lots of kids running riot in toilet block , Ferrell kids from seasonal pitches it seems .. lots of bad language from very younger kids is not what you expect. The staff are mostly very friendly , Trish in particular and Pam on the sales lodge ..
