Akebar Park has been run by the same family for over 50 years and is a family-friendly touring site, ideal for touring caravans and motorhomes, with plenty of space for children to enjoy and with outstanding views over the open countryside.

Akebar Park's touring site is a great space for your family holiday, offering grass pitches with electric hook-up, along with a well-equipped children’s play area. The touring field has toilets and showers, washing up areas and chemical waste disposal facilities. We have an onsite shop with basic supplies, and larger supermarkets are located within just a 10-minute drive from Akebar. What’s more, our staff are always on hand to help you have an amazing time – so it’s really no wonder that we’re considered one of the best holiday parks in Yorkshire!

We are an award-winning park and have been awarded the David Bellamy Conservation Gold Award by the British Holiday & Home Parks Association. The award shows that as a park we have taken steps to manage our land as a haven for wildlife; reduce our use of energy and water; reduce, reuse and recycle the waste we produce and support our local community. We have also featured in the Top 100 Sites in recent years.

All customers must report to reception on arrival, where we will be happy to check you in and let you know where your pitch is. Our wardens will be on hand to guide you and help you settle in. Our guests always enjoy their stay here, as we’re an ideal base for walking, cycling and fishing.

New caravan test weekend

Unfortunately, we arrived late so it was dark. We were assisted on route to site by the site staff and on arrival were shown to our pitch. Site facilties were good, pitch was good. We also visited the pub for a meal on the Saturday. Food was excellent

It is such a beautiful well kept tranquil park we love it and one day would like to be there in a static possibly.

First night we were kept awake by the caravan next door until 3am. With young twins we tried to use the family shower room, however the showers did not work and these facilities seemed neglected. Other family members have stayed here in the past, and had said about the fishing and footgolf which are no longer available which is a shame!

The campsite is very well kept and facilities are clean. The on-site shop sells most things (we needed extra nappies and wipes) and the food in pub next door was very good with excellent service. Staff are very friendly and there is a brilliant park for the kids. My boys loved the ducks that came around every morning.

We have stayed here a few times before but this was the first time the pub, The Friers Head has been open and wow I’m so pleased we decided to return. Rest of the site is tidy and clean and the friendly ducks that visit daily are an added bonus and welcome entertainment for the children.

On this visit only there 1 night arrived late and wet . Previous visit golf course on site , Pub on site Staff as above.Toilet block may require an upgrade in the not to distance future

Not so satisfied - pitch not good in terms of not level and right next to a graveyard. Toilets need updating and couldn’t find hand wash. Shower very slow to come on and get hot. A little unkempt around the toilet and shower block. WiFi very poor. Couldn’t contact night warden at all on our first night when needed to ask something. Satisfied - clean site overall, picturesque, friendly and good dog walking facilities. Pub is nice, although very expensive. Good location, with lots of places to visit in the area Leyburn not so dog friendly in shops. Hawes more dog friendly. Aysgarth falls worth a visit.
