We’re proud to have one of the best pubs in Wensleydale, ‘The Friars Head’, onsite. Not only that, but our stunning holiday park also boasts a golf course and great park facilities, making it one of the best parks in North Yorkshire.

Akebar Park has been run by the same family for over 50 years and is a family-friendly touring site, ideal for touring caravans and motorhomes, with plenty of space for children to enjoy and with outstanding views over the open countryside.

Akebar Park's touring site is a great space for your family holiday, offering grass pitches with electric hook-up, along with a well-equipped children’s play area. The touring field has toilets and showers, washing up areas and chemical waste disposal facilities. We have an onsite shop with basic supplies, and larger supermarkets are located within just a 10-minute drive from Akebar. What’s more, our staff are always on hand to help you have an amazing time – so it’s really no wonder that we’re considered one of the best holiday parks in Yorkshire!

We are an award-winning park and have been awarded the David Bellamy Conservation Gold Award by the British Holiday & Home Parks Association. The award shows that as a park we have taken steps to manage our land as a haven for wildlife; reduce our use of energy and water; reduce, reuse and recycle the waste we produce and support our local community. We have also featured in the Top 100 Sites in recent years.

All customers must report to reception on arrival, where we will be happy to check you in and let you know where your pitch is. Our wardens will be on hand to guide you and help you settle in. Our guests always enjoy their stay here, as we’re an ideal base for walking, cycling and fishing.

Brilliant dog owner holiday

After years of self catering holidays Akebar Park definitely has the best facilities for dog owners i have had. The enclosed dog excercise field is an excellent facility and the on site pub which allows dogs to accompany guests is also a huge bonus.The caravan we stayed in had good facilities however there were huge stains on the carpet and the settee cushions had black mould on the back . The decking was large and had a large table and 6 chairs on.There are lots of play facilities for children and an on-site golf course for adults.

The lodge was well equipped clean and tidy and had lots of little extras too like travel sized shampoo and conditioner. We knew we would have to use the car to travel anywhere so used this as a base to explore. York is within easy distance and the park and ride makes this easier and Richmond is a lovely place to visit. The forbidden corner was a great afternoon too. The site itself is very peaceful and the children enjoyed the hot tub. We had no issues during our stay and felt this was a great, comfortable lodge to stay in whilst we explored the local area during the day. P

We picked a Wensleydale pet caravan to hire. It was spacious, well equipped and lovely. Smart tv, WiFi, 2 bedrooms of a good size. A veranda with a gate for the dog. There’s also a dedicated dog exercise area and a park for the children. Pub on site is lovely and we ate twice and my little girl played mini golf lots of times. Site is within 20/30 minutes of lots of nice places to visit. The forbidden corner was fab! Loved the site, quiet and relaxed.

Highly impressed with "basic" caravan stay

I booked this park last minute as we had some time off work and wanted to visit the nearby attractions. We chose the cheapest grade of pet friendly caravan available as we were only going to use it as a base to sleep and be out all day. This "basic" caravan was the equivalent of the higher graded caravans at well known holiday parks. The caravan was spotlessly clean, towels were supplied, beds were made up, there was an AirFryer provided and also some little tea and coffee with UHT milks. Crockery and cooking utensils were of good quality, and there was even toiletries supplied in the bathroom. The staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming and even got us some more pillows when we asked - nothing was an issue to them. There is a lovely little duck pond on site and a really nice little playpark which my kids loved. The park is quite remote so would recommend visiting this area with a car rather than trying to rely on public transport. We will be back!

Weve recently visited for a weeks stay in the coverdale hot tub lodge as a family of 4 2 adults 2 children. The accommodation was impeccably clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed days out at nearby by Newby Hall, mother shiptons cave and studfold adventure trail. The onsite park my children enjoyed and the facilities at the friars head were excellent. We will be returning again soon.

A beautiful peaceful and well kept site. The caravan was clean and comfortable. A great base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Our only grumble was the opening times for the little on site shop. Our stay was July so we would have thought peak holiday times but to find the shop closed at 2 pm very disappointing and had to remember to call for milk etc before heading back to the caravan. An on site shop that opened til 5:30 / 6 pm would have been perfect

Very happy with site overall, clean caravan, big open areas for the kids and happy with the ducks constantly migrating between ponds, it made the kids very happy hahaStaff were friendly and polite, never needed anything so didn't need to bother them. Ground staff where polite with the kids and constantly waved so they where happy with thatOnly thing I would say is to maybe make the ground around the park a bit better as it was very weedy in areas, and maybe having a similar level park at the pub? It was difficult to keep the kids entertained if we went for food (only 6 and 2 year olds)

Caravan was lovely and spacious, caravan had everything we needed, air fryer, dishwasher, welcomepack of teatime,washing up liquid,scruby cloth. Tv intact room, netflicks and disney for you to sign in to. Lovely comfy furniture on the decking too. Would definitely stay again.

I intend to review in detail and yes I'm fussy. Well equipped lodhe/ caravan. Relatively new which was nice as drcor was attractive. Good tv and furniture. ●Welcome pack was useful But.... 4 milks 6 people? 2 tea bags...6 people? Lots of coffe sachets. Only 1 yea towel when 2 needed. ●Cleaning had a few gaps. Settees not moved for hoovering..2 napkins behind one and a few bits behind the other. Bed sttee was grubby on edge of mattress...hats and bits ugh. Glad we didn't need it and it wasn't advertised for use. Shower drain was ok in one but dirty in the other. They need checking. Sealant between shower tray and glass or wall was a little mouldy in both bathrooms. I cleaned it and shower drain. Under beds in twin rooms...1 had sock and square squidgy toy under it. We hoovered twice and it was good to have that facility. Cleaners had not emptied the hoover which was full.. I cleaned the issues raised including the toaster tray which was full of crumbs.■ no space to finis
