Akebar Park has been run by the same family for over 50 years and is a family-friendly touring site, ideal for touring caravans and motorhomes, with plenty of space for children to enjoy and with outstanding views over the open countryside.
Akebar Park's touring site is a great space for your family holiday, offering grass pitches with electric hook-up, along with a well-equipped children’s play area. The touring field has toilets and showers, washing up areas and chemical waste disposal facilities. We have an onsite shop with basic supplies, and larger supermarkets are located within just a 10-minute drive from Akebar. What’s more, our staff are always on hand to help you have an amazing time – so it’s really no wonder that we’re considered one of the best holiday parks in Yorkshire!
We are an award-winning park and have been awarded the David Bellamy Conservation Gold Award by the British Holiday & Home Parks Association. The award shows that as a park we have taken steps to manage our land as a haven for wildlife; reduce our use of energy and water; reduce, reuse and recycle the waste we produce and support our local community. We have also featured in the Top 100 Sites in recent years.
All customers must report to reception on arrival, where we will be happy to check you in and let you know where your pitch is. Our wardens will be on hand to guide you and help you settle in. Our guests always enjoy their stay here, as we’re an ideal base for walking, cycling and fishing.
Located next to the 12th Century, St. Andrews Church.
This area of the park is only for touring caravans and motorhomes and offers spacious hardstanding pitches with 16 amp electric hook up. It is a very flat area, making pitching up hassle free. Overlooking the fields, you may see a sheep or two!

Good site, well maintained, lovely settings around with a great restaurant bar onsite. Facilities for wash room toilets showers etc were clean although a little dated. Some lovely countryside around and nice location to visit towns villages and scenic walks.
The site was very well kept, really lovely surroundings.Friars Head pub/restaurant was very nice, pleasant staff, nice options available and seating outside.Unfortunately the toilet and shower facilities really let this site down. Half of the sinks had notices saying they were out of order, other taps were constantly leaking water. Hand washes only available at the very end of the sink rows but actually has signs above it saying "soap available above all sinks" which was incorrect. The shower cubicles are exceptionally small. There is no separate area to hang your towels and clothes to keep them dry meaning everything is soaking when you get out. The showers were very unpredictable regarding flow and temperatures, which are none adjustable. These are crying out for an update, in fact i can say honestly that these are some of the worst site showers i have ever used in 7 years of caravanning.
Everything was very clean, the play park kept my children entertained, however all 3 nights there always seemed to be children gathered around the front of the toilets from the seasonal caravans, some older children and it could be intimidating using toilets on my own on a night. Terrible language too around my younger children . The park is kept so lovely and had nice walkways around the caravan site. We used the on-site shop which was very handy for some smaller items we forgot.
We have stayed at Akebar several times it's a nice clean site which caters for all our needs, on site shop and pub on the doorstep, the site is lovely presented with good sized pitches and facilities are always clean and tidy, the showers are not very powerful but do the job, I would have liked to have had a mop and bucket in the showers to clean round after using which is often found on other sites. This site is ideal for children our grandson loved it so many kids to play with.We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return in the future.
Brilliant site for everyone. Lots to do for children, big park, adventure golf, football, ping pong tables and more! Great pub onsite with lovely food!Very clean and good facilities!Site felt very safe and tidy!Great location, visited Masham which was lovely! Would definitely recommend the site and would stay again!
I stayed here with our 4 kids and 2 dogs - we loved it! There's a good children's park which they all enjoyed, with plenty of space to run about too. They also loved the free mini golf which is great for a warm evening. There was a secure dog exercise field which was a bonus! Toilet and shower areas were well maintained and clean, and we felt very safe on site, especially as access/exit is via a coded barrier entry. Pitches were spacious and close to facilities - we were visited a few times by ducks which the kids loved to feed. The pub/restaurant on the site looked lovely although we didn't use it this time. There's supermarkets/shops within a short driving distance of the park, and location is good - motorway within easy reach, but also surrounded by plenty of countryside for a peaceful feel. Overall, a very enjoyable stay - already recommended to friends and we will certainly be back in future!
Very nice site, clean and well maintained, great location. The bar is particularly good, with mini golf and we also had access to a free bouncy castle for the kids.
Amazing park. Lots of space for kids to go wild. Great and clean amenities. We had an issue with our gas bottle on arrival and without hesitation the park helped and replaced the damaged bits. Amazing stay and will be back.
Good: Freindly staff, site clean and tidy, toilets and showers kept clean and tidy and warm.Bad: Pitches where we were put were cramped, for instance when sitting on the small piece of grass next to our pitch, we were very close to the caravan next door. With the site being pretty remote the obvious thing to do was use the pub on the site. The pub has a "captive audience" and therfore can basically charge what it likes, and, boy does it. It is extremely expensive, for instance 2 pints of Guiness and 2 bottles of Peroni lager was £19 and Sunday lunch was advertised on their website at £18 per head. Let me stress though that (I believe) the pub has nothing to do with the site.
The site is lovely. Great park for kids, mini golf, table tennis and football nets provided lots of fun on a rainy day. Pub on site served delicious food and staff were friendly. The only thing that let it down was the showers! They didn't work properly and I ended up stuck in the shower with soap on my hair, also the hot taps kept sticking and the hot water running for long times.
