Knight Stainforth Hall Caravan And Camping Park

Settle, North Yorkshire

205 Reviews

Park Description

For over 90 years Little Stainforth has hosted both local and national campers. It is also one of the oldest sites still run by the same family, the Maudsley’s. We are sure you will enjoy your stay at Little Stainforth, and we will do everything we can to ensure that your stay is a pleasant and memorable one. Set in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the park stands on the 45-acre estate of Knight Stainforth Hall, just 2 miles north of the market town of Settle and nestled on the banks of the River Ribble, a manor house dating back to pre-Norman times, which belonged to the Knight Templar.

The Touring Park is open from 1st Mar – 31st Oct and offers 100 touring pitches for Caravans, Motorhomes and Tents. 75 of these are serviced with electrical hook-up points.

The children’s playground and ball games area always go down well with the little ones. Shop with off-license selling basic supplies, camping accessories and gas refills. Games and TV room and an Information room containing brochures and literature on attractions and events in the locality. Some information is available on places of interest further afield, but within easy access of the Park. Fishing is available on site.

The park is not only ideally situated for exploring the dales but is also within easy traveling distance of the Lakes and Herriot Country. The area around Little Stainforth offers many attractions including: Malhamdale including the Cove and Gordale Scar, Settle to Carlisle Railway, The 3 Peaks, Ingleton Water Fall Walk, White Scar and Inglebourgh Show Cave, The Pennine Way, The Lake District, Outdoor Pursuits inc. Horse riding, Walking, Cycling and Climbing.

"TOO MANY TENTS IN THE FIELD"

Upon arrival checking in was easy and I was informed where my electric pitch was . This is when it all went down hill !. I was allocated pitch 88 . However there were that many tents on the field I could barley even get to where I was ment to be . In short there were just far to many tents rammed onto the field and I was left with a small piece of grass pitch , with no space , no privacy and feeling frustrated and let down . The pitch’s needs to be clearly marked out with small bushes as is the rest of the park and pitch’s . This left us on a down from the start . The facilities were good however and kept clean , the children’s park was ok and used by the kids during the evening . In all the park is nice with good facilities in such a stunning location but given the situation I found myself in with my pitch or lack of !! I would not be in a rush to return untill this has been addressed .

"Noisy"

Anonymous - Stayed with partner, Jun 2021

Everything was great apart from it was too noisy at night - kids playing in park past 10pm, people sitting out and partying past 10. Sometimes felt intimidated walking to toilets as lots of teenagers etc on park or family parties going on.

This was our second visit will not be our last. Lovely location, great clean facilities, restaurant & bar excellent and staff great. Weather fab, lots to do in surrounding area and not as busy as the Lakes or Wales, a real hidden gem. Thank you

I camped with my two young sons for the week. The site was fantastic and offered everything we needed. The play park, shower facilities, onsite bar/ restaurant, local tourist attractions all made our stay very pleasant. We will definitely visit again next year. One downside - The camp field near the play park (one of three to chose from), has a big slope for most of the non EHU pitches, although as no tents can realistically pitch here it makes a good uphill vs downhill football match.

"Very good caravan pitches with water supply and electric on individual pitches."

Anonymous - Stayed with family, May 2021

We had a nice stay of 4 days. Lovely views in all directions from the site! Great river adjacent with paddling for the small children and water falls for plunge diving for the older and braver children and adults.
