Settle, North Yorkshire

332 Reviews

Park Description

For over 80 years Little Stainforth has hosted both local and national campers. It is also one of the oldest sites still run by the same family, the Maudsley’s. We are sure you will enjoy your stay at Little Stainforth, and we will do everything we can to ensure that your stay is a pleasant and memorable one. Set in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the park stands on the 45-acre estate of Knight Stainforth Hall, just 2 miles north of the market town of Settle and nestled on the banks of the River Ribble, a manor house dating back to pre-Norman times, which belonged to the Knight Templar.

The Touring Park is open from 1st Mar – 31st Oct and offers 100 touring pitches for Caravans, Motorhomes and Tents. 75 of these are serviced with electrical hook-up points.

The children’s playground and ball games area always go down well with the little ones. Shop with off-license selling basic supplies, camping accessories and gas refills. Games and TV room and an Information room containing brochures and literature on attractions and events in the locality. Some information is available on places of interest further afield, but within easy access of the Park. Fishing is available on site.

The park is not only ideally situated for exploring the dales but is also within easy traveling distance of the Lakes and Herriot Country. The area around Little Stainforth offers many attractions including: Malhamdale including the Cove and Gordale Scar, Settle to Carlisle Railway, The 3 Peaks, Ingleton Water Fall Walk, White Scar and Inglebourgh Show Cave, The Pennine Way, The Lake District, Outdoor Pursuits inc. Horse riding, Walking, Cycling and Climbing.

Love this camp site, so friendly and accommodating it was nice to come back to somewhere we know from our stay last year. Kiddies love the park and my lad just loves to play football all the time and there's plenty of room for them to play. We brought our friends for their first ever camping trip. They loved it. We'll definitely be back.

Lovely large site with picturesque views of the hill when you wake from your tent in the mornings. Weather was changeable which cant be helped , it is England after all. Large shower and facilities block (odd layout though) pin code / fob entry to site and shower/block. Electrical pitch with water at same point, saved us taking usual trek for water. Fabulous restaurant on site for breakfasts, lunches & dinners. Fantabulous local produce and puds to die for (taste the rainbow my fave) Overall would highly recommend site as in heart of dales and lots of local attractions close by and also a short drive to the Lake District 😍

VERY GOOD SITE, IF A LITTLE CROWDED AT TIMES (ALTHOUGH SCHOOL HOLIDAYS). ONLY CRITICISM IS THERE WAS NO SANITIZER FOR HAND WASHING AFTER CLEANING OUT CARAVAN TOILET WASTE. - EASILY REMEDIED I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT.

"Excellent location"

Great campsite in a perfect location for the avid walker. Plenty to do right from the door with the 3 peaks being less than 10 mins drive away. Plenty to do right from the door with the 3 peaks being less than 10 mins drive away. Campsite nice and clean, restaurant and bar an added bonus, excellent food. No shop when we were there which was a bit inconvenient, and more staff presence is needed on and around the site to keep ensure everyone is kept happy!

"A great park for the kids"

Overall the experience was excellent. The kids play park was very popular with our kids. It does get a little noisy at times though.
