I am disabled as I stated when booking and asked to be near the facilities . Our pitch was number 14 where there are steps up to the facilities and shower tray was too high off the ground to negotiate. There was another toilet block but no empty pitches close to the facilities there either. I booked in advance so was hoping to be given a pitch next to accessible facilities.

I have looked through the last 2 months bookings to see who booked you in on pitch 14 but can't find any booking with notes to be near disabled facilities. What a shame you have chosen to remain anonymous when writing this as we can't find anyway to resolve it. To clarify, ANY customer who requests to be near the facilities for disabled access is automatically placed by in the meadow as close as we can get them. If they have inadvertently booked into the Orchard, we contact them and ask if they mind us moving them. Similarly, had you popped in to the office and let us know, we would have immediately moved your pitch for you. Sadly, without this information, we don't know a visitor is unhappy until they leave us a poor review. Please do choose to be in the meadow if you visit us again or use or 'select a pitch' mode which allows you to choose and reserve a specific pitch. Kind regards

All in all a very nice area to visit and a site that’s perfect to stay at.

Great site but wasn't happy about the gate as anyone could drive in and steal your caravan, I'm used to an electric key fob system so it worried me when we wanted to venture out and leave our caravan.

When it is not locked we keep a keen eye on who is coming and going. We have found that the electric barriers and electric key fobs can be sabotaged by people who know what they're doing so a manual gate is more secure for us. We understand that this may have made you anxious but would like to reassure you that we have historically had no problems of customer's vans being stolen whilst they're holidaying on our site. We hope you enjoyed your stay regardless of these concerns. Kind regards.

"The friendly well maintained site"

Friendly staff.Great location for Slimbridge The approach road can be restricted a little if Slimbridge Wetlands is busy. And school pick up time.Nice canal walk, and cafe. Did find the standard pitches narrow.

"Lovely Location"

This site is in a lovely location on the Gloucester Sharpness canal with good pub next door and the Black Shed opposite for food and entertainment. Wildfowl Trust just up the road. Will use again.

Now we are motorhome campers and we’re back. Love the proximity to good walks and Slimbridge. The site is simple, clean and has everything you need. Onsite pub is great and you can get a good breakfast at the Black Shed. Nothing pretentious just good, reasonably priced pub food. I read a really bad review on this site from December, and yes some sites you got to have underfloor heating in the shower block etc. I felt the review was unfair - this site has all that you need if you’re looking for good, clean facilities, basic supplies, a nice welcome and lovely surroundings. Great site. We will definitely be back!! We will certainly be back

Its generally very quiet but, like everywhere, gets busy in the school holidays. Its quite pricy for what it is but it is well maintained. However, the washrooms need updating, seriously in the case of the Orchard block. The number of pitches on site was expanded last year but not the washroom facilities to cope with the extra people. The Orchard block really needs demolishing and possibly replacing. The main block needs a good refurbishment. A total of 6 showers for the ladies (inc the Orchard) on a site this size is not really sufficient so some more facilities would not go a miss. We will still visit and stay again because the pitches are a good size and its in a lovely location.

Thank you for your review and feedback which we always try to answer where necesary. The site has not expanded it's number of pitches in any way. The grass pitches with electric which I presume you're referring to, actually cut down the number of visitors we in the camping field! The facilities we have are the AA and Visit Britain recommended amount and 4* standard. In addition to the showers we offer private wash cubicles as well as the sinks etc. It is rare for people to queue even in the height of the season... you will always have a 'busy time' but generally it always works rather well. To demolish the Orchard block would mean closing a large chunk of the site down and having instrusive building work taking place. As you can imagine, this is not something that we could undertake lightly. Meanwhile, it proves to be a perfectly functional and useful secondary facility. We hope you still enjoyed your stay. Kind regards.
