"Great place"

L McLaren - Stayed with partner, Aug 2019

Very helpful staff and clean, well thought-out facilities. The owners are clearly campers themselves.

I was attracted to the impeccable reviews about cleanliness and it being a well-run site. These proved to be true. The showers are very well-thought-through and, although we were the nearest pitch to the toilet block, the loop-shape of the site made me feel that going to brush teeth late at night would not be creepy or too muddy or too far from any pitch. We used it as a base for many and varied local activities. This means we only walked across the field and back to St Briavels once and only visited the brook once. But both walks were exquisitely beautiful, interesting for the children and provided things for the children to do at the destination - excellent play park in the village and brilliant areas of the brook to paddle in. I would like to return just to enjoy these onsite places more. The site takeaway menu at weekends was a godsend on our day of arrival! The chest freezer was not quite coping with freezer blocks in the hot weather - that is the one tiny thing I would appreciate the site looking into. Many families had brought bikes. Children rode happily around the route. There are cycle racks at the entrance and by the loos, the type you stand your wheel into. We locked to these, but many more people kept bikes locked to each other or vehicles at their pitches. The 9 mile family cycle trail from Mallard's Pike Forestry Commission centre is excellent. There view at Simmonds Yat is not to be missed. Factor in castles, Tintern, caves... the holiday plans itself.

Within 10 minutes drive of several great places to visit with the kids and 30 minutes takes you to many more. We couldn't visit all of the places in the area because we ran out of days!
