The View at Watergate Bay

Newquay, Cornwall

100 Reviews

Park Description

Families, couples & dogs are all welcome here at The View at Watergate Bay. Our small camp site is in a stunning location on the North Coast of Cornwall, looking out across the vast expanse of Atlantic Ocean & along the beautiful, rugged coastline towards Newquay, the popular seaside town which is just 4 miles away.

Here you have the advantage of staying on a small and peaceful campsite with all the facilities at Watergate Bay Touring Park, just 300 along a quiet lane, available for you to use: Indoor Heated Swimming Pool, Skate Park, Tennis Courts (for a small fee), Pirate Ship Adventure Play Area, Mini Bus to The Beach (during peak times only), The Cribbar with free nightly entertainment (during peak times only), Large Shop, Games Room, Dog Exercise Field & Overnight Arrivals Field.

If you're looking for a well looked after campsite with generous, level grass pitches & clean facilities that is close to one of the best beaches in Cornwall, look no further.

Watergate Bay is a fantastic holiday destination. There are two miles of dog friendly sand at low tide, as well as rock pools & caves for the kids to explore. The RNLI patrol the beach during the summer, making it a safe place to swim & surf or body-board some of the best sets in Britain.

Even during peak times, due to the size and shape of the site as well as the generous size of the pitches, it never feels too busy. The site is surrounded by fields & the ocean, so offers a wonderful feeling of space all around you.

"Great stay, not great weather"

Ms A Heal - Stayed with partner, Aug 2019

Had a lovely few days, ideal base to visit other areas. We had to cut short our visit due to the very high winds that cancelled board masters festival. We didn’t want to paraglide of cliff hanging onto our tent! We will come back. Did think £4 a day for dog a bit... Had a lovely few days, ideal base to visit other areas. "Unclean facilities and luke warm showers"

Anonymous - Stayed with family, Aug 2019

Not a child friendly site, with the hanger in the facilities really high in a dark, dirty and dingy environment. The showers were barely warm with little power and stayed on for a few seconds. Also, no where safe to walk the dog and the dog exercise area is not secure... Not a child friendly site, with the hanger in the facilities really high in a dark, dirty and dingy environment. Site amenities were just as described - lovely hot showers, clean bathrooms and kitchen wash facilities. Friendly and helpful staff - nothing too much trouble. Great easygoing atmosphere on site and in the cafe bar. Well stocked on site shop for anything we had forgotten as well as daily essentials like milk, eggs and ice etc.

Our dog-sitting arrangements had fallen through so we were desperate for help. Ros, Tina and Anna were amazingly helpful and looked after our collie from 9.45 am - 6 pm including walking her - far more than we had hoped for. They were unfailingly friendly, cheerful and helpful - we can't thank them enough. Overall, we found the site very good: excellent cafe, very clean everywhere, but my only suggestion is that on such a dog-friendly site, it could be useful to be able to buy dog food there .

"Second visit"

Lots of improvements with addition if cafe and onsite shop. I would like a few more camping basics in the shop and mire staff in cafe during busy time. On whole lovely staff, great site. No complaints here. Already booked next year. X

Peak season so site full, consequently facilities were busy, however did not have to wait for a shower or loo. Food and beer in the cafe were good. One strip of the lights in the mens toilet/wash area were not working. Does seem very tight to charge to freeze ice packs and to charge a phone when all the electric pitches have been taken. I noticed all the power sockets in the cafe area were blanked off to stop customers using them.....not quite like going for a Costa is it !

Unfortunately someone had abandoned their car on our pitch making it difficult to pitch and find the car owner. Perhaps a registration process where car number plates given on entry to the park could have resolved the issue sooner than me having to do so although the staff were brilliant the owner could not be found. The other issue that needs addressing is for those without electric hook up there needs to be sockets provided in communal area for people to plug in electrical appliances such as hair straighteners, charge mobile phones etc as none provided at all even if a charge has to be made the could be very useful.
