Park Description

Moss Wood is a fabulous family run caravan park for Holiday Homes, Touring Caravans and Motorhomes, nestled in a tree lined vale near the ancient village of Cockerham, and provides easy access to walks on the coastal path and nearby areas of Natural Outstanding Beauty.

Skelwith Fold's 90 touring pitches for Caravan and Motorhome holidays are scattered throughout a 130-acre woodland site, offering guests the opportunity to cohabit with wildlife, woodland, wetland and fell habitats found within the caravan sites boundaries.

All touring pitches are hard standing, offer electric hook-up and are conveniently located for use of the free toilet and shower blocks. Guests have access to laundry facilities, water standpipes and the reception can offer a gas exchange. There is a well stocked shop, internet access and even a Trust Library.

The park also have available 4 self-contained Hideaways which are located in one of the park’s quietest and most wildlife-friendly spots. These two-berth Hideaways provide a unique ambience that cannot be experienced anywhere else in the Lake District.

Pork pies in the on-site shop were very tasty. Will definitely return and recommend.

I booked in as a surprise for my wife on a Thursday I got there early and was greeted with a happy smiling lady (Sandra) who gave me a details of the site and which plot was allocated, we had an amazing stay kids, dogs and the wife loved it and would like to return maybe as a seasonal pitch holder, I also misplace my key and they were so lovely about it and I was about to go home and check and was told not to do that and she’s lent me a spare, amazing place loved it and hoping to go back soon.

The whole place was immaculate and makes me look forward to seeing how stunning it’ll be in the spring & summer months. The pitches were spacious and a really good distant apart. We had a full view of the play area as requested, and our 6 year old loved it. It was big enough for great fun but not so large that it became unruly, and the equipment was in brilliant condition. All the grass around the site was well cut and the grounds were spotless. Trees etc were well cared for and the focus on wildlife and the nature trail a lovely touch. The toilet block, although not modern, was extremely clean and has ‘proper’ shower cubicles that you’d have at home! For the price we paid I can honestly say it’s one of the best sites we’ve found in 5 years of caravning & we’ll most certainly be returning time and time again.

Staff very friendly and helpful on arrival. Site clean and tidy. Loads of children, but not a problem, despite being located close to play area. Plenty of local lanes to walk in. Local pubs about 2 miles away but that wasn't a problem, as we took our own beverages and wine. This site appeared to be very popular with many grandparents and grandchildren, who all had good words to say about the place. Will probably visit again.
