Park Description

Moss Wood is a fabulous family run caravan park for Holiday Homes, Touring Caravans and Motorhomes, nestled in a tree lined vale near the ancient village of Cockerham, and provides easy access to walks on the coastal path and nearby areas of Natural Outstanding Beauty.

Skelwith Fold's 90 touring pitches for Caravan and Motorhome holidays are scattered throughout a 130-acre woodland site, offering guests the opportunity to cohabit with wildlife, woodland, wetland and fell habitats found within the caravan sites boundaries.

All touring pitches are hard standing, offer electric hook-up and are conveniently located for use of the free toilet and shower blocks. Guests have access to laundry facilities, water standpipes and the reception can offer a gas exchange. There is a well stocked shop, internet access and even a Trust Library.

The park also have available 4 self-contained Hideaways which are located in one of the park’s quietest and most wildlife-friendly spots. These two-berth Hideaways provide a unique ambience that cannot be experienced anywhere else in the Lake District.

"Neat but bland"

Mrs C Falconer - Stayed with partner, Sep 2021

Small campsight in every sense. Pleasant and tidy (if anything too tidy ….. grass cut daily!) but small compact plots all overlooked with no privacy. No extras: showers fixed temp and short push button, wash up sinks with no squeegy provided, £2 chargeable washers etc.... Small campsight in every sense. Quite a distance from anywhere and no maps or guides to local amenities.

Overall the site is beautifully maintained and quiet but the caravan part was noisy. There was a mix up with our pitch initially, we were given a pitch to later find someone else parked in it. There were two little dogs wandering about who pooped on the grass outside out pitch as no one was watching them they didn’t pick up. The touring facilities are fine but when showering in the ladies the water stopped to a trickle when the next cubicle also hit the shower button, not great when covered in soap. then when it did run the water was scolding hot. I didn’t feel the wash facilities were cleaned as regularly as they could have been, there were children’s shorts and under pants left in there for a few days. The space for dogs is great and the woodland walk is lovely. The shop is cute with local produce, could do with fresh coffee. All in all a lovely site but I think it’s more for the static caravans and less focus on the tourers.

"Showers are poor"

Mrs E McKenna - Stayed with family, Aug 2021

I’ve been coming to the site for 13 years, and we thoroughly enjoy our stay every time, this time however not as much. The showers are shocking, only a trickle of water, I think all the additional caravans have affected the water pressure, the staff were nowhere near... I’ve been coming to the site for 13 years, and we thoroughly enjoy our stay every time, this time however not as much. The showers are shocking, only a trickle of water, I think all the additional caravans have affected the water pressure, the staff were nowhere near as friendly as previous years, there was a lot of dog muck around the site, the farm dogs are intrusive and something needs to be done about them, the plots have been reduced in size and so there is little room between each caravan

"Ok stay but wouldn’t retur."

Mrs C Sherratt - Stayed with family, Aug 2021

In all fairness our stay at moss wood was pleasant however, we wouldn’t return. The reason being the shower/toilet block just wasn’t clean or wasn’t cleaned enough. The park overall is spotless but they need to clean the bathroom facilities more often maybe even think... In all fairness our stay at moss wood was pleasant however, we wouldn’t return. The reason being the shower/toilet block just wasn’t clean or wasn’t cleaned enough. The park overall is spotless but they need to clean the bathroom facilities more often maybe even think about updating them. We were fortunate enough to be put on to a ‘seasonal pitch’ even though we were only staying 4 nights but from what I could gather from others who were seasonal, those pitches are soon to become static pitches. Had we been put on a standard touring pitch I think we wouldn’t have enjoyed the stay as much. The touring pitches are small, too close together and you have to put your car on the car park something we’d not experienced before. It’s a nice park but much more for static than tourers.

"Disappointed review"

Mr. R Grayson - Stayed with partner, Aug 2021

Very clean n tidy. Not very well lit on touring site at night. Shop stock very limited. Unless you have transport, nowhere to go nothing to do disappointing very quiet.

"Well kept site"

Mr R Blow - Stayed with partner, Aug 2021

A really tidy site in beautiful rural surroundings. Handy for Garstang & Lancaster. Toilets/Showers a little tired but did the job. Quiet touring field apart from one dog which barked most of the day but that is not the fault of the site. Do fear that the Touring Field... A really tidy site in beautiful rural surroundings. Handy for Garstang & Lancaster. Toilets/Showers a little tired but did the job. Quiet touring field apart from one dog which barked most of the day but that is not the fault of the site. Do fear that the Touring Field could disappear to be replaced with more statics as they had already replaced several touring pitches
