Park Description

Moss Wood is a fabulous family run caravan park for Holiday Homes, Touring Caravans and Motorhomes, nestled in a tree lined vale near the ancient village of Cockerham, and provides easy access to walks on the coastal path and nearby areas of Natural Outstanding Beauty.

Skelwith Fold's 90 touring pitches for Caravan and Motorhome holidays are scattered throughout a 130-acre woodland site, offering guests the opportunity to cohabit with wildlife, woodland, wetland and fell habitats found within the caravan sites boundaries.

All touring pitches are hard standing, offer electric hook-up and are conveniently located for use of the free toilet and shower blocks. Guests have access to laundry facilities, water standpipes and the reception can offer a gas exchange. There is a well stocked shop, internet access and even a Trust Library.

The park also have available 4 self-contained Hideaways which are located in one of the park’s quietest and most wildlife-friendly spots. These two-berth Hideaways provide a unique ambience that cannot be experienced anywhere else in the Lake District.

Stayed on this Caravan site for two nights in our touring Caravan. We meet friends for the weekend, first impressions was that the pitches are quite close together, however as we were not putting up an awning and we were pitched next to each other this didn’t cause a problem. Apart from that all the other facilities on site were excellent, well laid out and very clean. The kids play Park was well designed for all ages and well maintained. The touring park was full when we arrived but the facilities were more than amble to accommodate this. Good field for dog walking and kids playing ball games etc, away from caravans. We visited the ice cream farm down the road which was excellent and good value for money, would definitely recommend this Caravan site and ice cream farm. Hope to stay here again soon.

Lovely helpful staff nothing was too much trouble. Toilet and showers very clean. Loved the nature trail and large field, my husband and son enjoyed the fishing on site. The only negative was the playground which was for older children and as we took our 18 month old granddaughter we couldn't use it. Dog friendly too. Will definitely go back and would recommend

Enjoyed a brief but very pleasant overnight stop. Ideal location if you're in the area for skydiving with the Black Knights. Would highly recommend that too.

We stayed here on our way back from Scotland .. we were able to arrive early due to pitch availability and the lovely wardens helped up when we had a problem with our jockey wheel. Lovely site and will definitely return.

"A little oasis"

I I love this site, it’s well away from hustle and bustle but close enough to get to from motorway and Lancaster centre. I’ve been twice now with my wife and we love the peace and easy going atmosphere of this well kept site. I’ve found the staff to be really friendly... Me and my partner loved the site. It was relaxing and the staff were always helpful. However we were on the tourer caravan part of the site and were told by the staff that we couldn’t kick a ball on the grass in the middle we were to instead use the field at the back, I think that the site would be better if a football was allowed on the grass as for families with young children it is easier to keep an eye on their little ones in front of a caravan than having to walk to the field at night when it is their holiday as well. If it is late at night you couldn’t imagine young children having to walk to the field just to kick a ball. My partner playing a little game of kick ahoutnon the grass with a little boy in the caravan next to us and someone in another caravan rang security about it...it is a site quite clearly for children with the park so it is only fitting that people who choose to go accept that children will be children and kick a ball around as personally it is doing no harm
