Offering a picturesque and serene outdoor setting for holidays, Martleaves Farm is a beautifully appointed, adult-only campsite located on the Dorset coast between Weymouth and Portland. Set within the mesmerizing Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, this campsite spans 34 acres of breathtaking countryside.
Designated as a site of special scientific interest (SSSI), Martleaves is a haven for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers alike. With its proximity to Chesil Beach and the charming seaside town of Weymouth, as well as the historic site of the 2012 Olympics in Portland, this site provides a unique blend of rural charm and coastal beauty.
One of the standout features of Martleaves Farm Campsite is its welcoming attitude toward various types of campers. Whether you arrive with a touring caravan, motorhome, campervan, or traditional tent, the campsite caters to all, offering short breaks throughout the entire year. The campsite's commitment to inclusivity is further exemplified by its provision for paddleboarding and kayaking in the nearby Fleet Lagoon, allowing campers to bring and use their own equipment for a delightful aquatic experience just 300 meters from the farm.
The diverse array of animals on the farm adds an extra layer of charm to the camping experience. Alpacas, Shetland ponies, horses, pet pigs, free-range chickens, ducks, geese, and sheep contribute to the farm's lively atmosphere. To ensure the safety and harmony of the animals, dogs are required to be kept on leads until away from the farm. Fortunately, there's a convenient footpath leading down to the sea, where dogs can be let off their leads, allowing both campers and their furry companions to enjoy the natural surroundings.
The campsite's facilities are thoughtfully designed to enhance the overall camping experience. Three centrally heated shower and toilet blocks, along with a purple wet room, ensure that campers have access to clean and comfortable amenities. The daily cleaning and replenishing of showers and toilets reflect the campsite's commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene. For those needing to attend to practical matters, a well-equipped laundry room with a fridge freezer and indoor and outdoor sinks is available. Additionally, a hose on the farmyard facilitates the cleaning of muddy dogs and boots, demonstrating the campsite's attention to detail and camper convenience.
Martleaves Farm goes beyond the typical camping experience by offering farm-fresh products for sale in the farmhouse porch. Campers can indulge in free-range rare breed chicken, bantam, duck, and goose eggs (when available), providing a taste of the local agricultural offerings. The campsite also sells local Dorset Honey and a range of toiletries for campers who may have forgotten essentials, showcasing a commitment to ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay for all.

Great 4 night stay from 26th to 30th October.A warm welcome and all facilities clearly pointed out.Grass had recently been cut and there was an awful lot of long cuttings laying.... Would have been nice to have been offered local walks / maps / pubs / shops etc etc.Toilets and showers clean but need tlc.... Hooks, locks, doors tired.Absolutely lovely location............
Campsite perfect for what we wanted . Time to rest and relax . We just wish we had taken binoculars.
The position of the site is very good with views across chesil beach and Portland. We were able to get a bus from the main road into Weymouth and walk to the local pub and the crab house. I found the shower facilities very good, hot water and very clean and in good order. It was wet on the days we were there and needed a torch to get to the facilities as lots of deep puddles, it would be good to get them filled in or a little more lights on sensors.Very good large hard standing for Motorhome’s. I would like to bring my grandchildren, but adult only.
Loved the views from the site. Facilities very nice & clean. It was nice to be around the alpacas & horses. Location was nice to be able to walk into Weymouth & Portland
Rightly or wrongly we just expected more from the site for the relatively high price charged, especially out of season.
We love staying here just to switch off and relax. Staff are always there for any help. you need to just ask. They all have other jobs to do so are not in your face.We love watching the horses coming out in the mornings and back in at the end of the day but the Alpacas are our favourite they are so funny that we could watch them for hours and sometimes we do just that. Everything is at hand just ensure you have a torch as it does get a bit hairy going out in the dark. Would love to see better lighting for the dark evenings.
Good, practical site with lovely views of Chesil, The Fleet & Portland.Entrance is a tad agricultural.....cos it's a farm, comes with the territory. Needs better sign to reception for new arrivals.Good spot!
The access to the site is through a residential area; the final access road /entrance isn’t well signed and looked a bit untidy, with weeds growing along the fence, and a messy, muddy stable yard opposite a static caravan that’s being used as the reception office. Hiwever, once you enter the camping area, it is tidy and beautifully kept, with individual plots with hard standing, each with its own big patch of thick, mown grass - and lovely views over the water towards the Isle of Portland and Chesil Beach. Toilet and shower facilities were spotlessly clean and well maintained, with plenty of hot water to the showers. The only exception was the communal wet room, which was poorly drained so had water around the base of the toilet. A proper accessible shower with grab handles and somewhere to sit to get dry and dressed would be a welcome addition. Local buses were frequent and reliable, and there’s an off-road cycle route into Weymouth close by. We loved it and would certainly return.
Had the best time at Martleaves Campsite. We camped with friends for Weymouth Pirate Festival and because the site wasn't full we were able to use the pitches close to each other. Although the site isn't close to town it is in an easy walking distance from bus stops, shops and a pub serving good food. The site itself is well kept and tidy with clean facilities. There is an ample amount of toilets, washing up areas and showers with plenty of hot water. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Located on a high spot the views are fabulous. I would highly recommend Martleaves and am definitely visiting again.
