Beautiful countryside near the sea

Brickwood, Kate - 19/07/2024

We love camping at Smedmore, we like the no frills, peace & quiet but also appreciate the electric plug in and the ability to select a pitch. We really enjoy the unspoilt countryside & walking with our dog by the sea and quiet nights with owls hooting. The weather forecast & tide info is a helpful touch by Bryn.

Great improvement.

Owen, Robert - 18/07/2024

This was our first time back in 2 years. The improvements to the site were immediately visible on our arrival. The reception area has been updated and the entrance and on site roadway improved. The utilities areas are spotlessly clean. Service points are easily accessible. There is plenty of information available either in the information shed or from the very helpful and friendly warden about local history and things to do. A leaflet is available giving directions for the 40 minute walk across the fields to the beautiful Kimmeridge Bay. There are catering vans at the back of the bay offering lovely food with hot teas and Coffee. A short walk back through the small village of Kimmeridge and the grounds of Smedmore house takes you back to site. Short drive west takes you to Lulworth cove or east to Corfe Castle.

Nice quite site, but unfortunately we booked a hardstanding, it didn't matter if it was wet or dry everything we entered the caravan grit from the hardstanding came inside with us and this was even with an awning mat down

Booked through the caravan club and must say we were disappointed the site did look a little tired although it is in a very pretty location.

Beautiful, clean and peaceful site in glorious countryside with views of the sea.

Adams, James - 16/07/2024

Smedmore is located in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck, accessed via a long country lane that skirts Corfe Castle and then heads towards Kimmeridge Bay. The lane is undulating and narrow in places, but well worth the effort. Smedmore House is impressive and the peaceful, well kept site sits alongside it. The warden is friendly and helpful, and the facilities are clean and tidy. There is plenty of information to answer all queries and indicate walks and things to do. Nearby the village of Kimmeridge has an excellent restaurant that also serves breakfast and morning coffee right opposite the amazing Etchells Collection museum. A must for everyone interested in dinosaurs. The site has large, well spaced pitches, great views and excellent value for money. Highly recommended.
