We brought our canoe as we knew how close the site was to the lake. Very much enjoyed paddling around the lake! Site is close to the bus route into Keswick which is handy if you don’t want to use your van. Site was peaceful and is well kept. Handy to have the onsite cafe. Only downside is the toilet/shower block which is a bit tired. It is cleaned regularly but could do with a deep clean to freshen up the tiles, get rid of the cobwebs etc.
Great lodge and hot tub with everything you need for a week away.
Welcome was average. Below par to other sites we’ve visited. Poorly marked pitches. “Bistro” bar only sold pizzas and paninis. Toilet block located too far away from camping pitches. Toilet and shower block in need of modernisation.
The site was near perfect for us. Great location.loved having Herdwick Willy's on site. Plenty to do within easy reach and fabulous to be so near Bassenthwaite Lake which is beautiful. Toilet block wasn't the best we've experienced, but adequate and we never had to queue. Loved and and have already booked another stay.
Excellent location with walking distance (5 mins) to lakeside which was wonderful for paddle boarding and swimming. Very safe for children. The campsite was very quiet and peaceful. The bus stop was next to the campsite, which we used to get into Keswick. The only criticism would be the toilet block as it wasn't the cleanest and was very spider and fly infested. The showers were hot though and always quiet. There was a number to call if we needed anything as there isn't a reception on the site. That was answered promptly and questions answered which was great.
A great location for those wanting daily access to a lake. The super pitches had lovely views and close to a chemical disposal but no smell! Only disappointment were the facilities. Only two toilets and showers for the ladies and far from the caravan. We used our caravan facilities much more than normal because of this. If we weren’t on a super pitch we would have struggled I think.Overall we had a great time and will go again.
The site is in a fantastic location and a very well looked after but unfortunately the biggest disappointment was the toilet and shower facilities which were never cleaned in the three nights we stayed and smelled of urine .I would definitely have given it a five star rating but because of the disgusting shower and toilet block I cannot .It is a pity because if this was rectified I would definitely return
The caravan park was great , from driving onto your pitch , you had space and privacy A very relaxed atmosphere , wether with family or partners Very safe area for children A short walk to the lake that yet again was great for the family , or water sports like paddle boarding or canoeing Great all round for dogs A very clean and tidy site The bistro food was great , all cooked fresh with a great sitting out area in the sun We will definetly return
I sent an email confirming cancellation on 6th August and haven't received a full refund in line with your cancellation policy. Could you please arrange a refund ASAP.
Really lovely site, close to the lakes and good bus service to Keswick and Cockermouth. Lovely views and able to swim at Bassenthwaite Lake which is just a few minutes walk over the bridge. Herdwick Willy's bar is a great bonus too. We use our own facilities in our touring van, but there are only 2 showers and 2 toilets if you are using the facilities. They look freshly painted but could do with an upgrade. Overall great bank holiday weekend with ft ends and would come back.
