Fantastic site and excellent value for money. Brilliant on site bar with great food and great staff.
Lovely site and fab walks around the area the only thing that lets it down is the facilities only 2 showers and 2 toilets for ladies and men and these were just ok, sited down near the entrance a bit of a trek when on the camping ground I do think the site is more geared to static homes . The bistro/bar was lovely but can’t understand why they have not designated a dog friendly area inside .
Lovely to return to Herdwick had a great stay as always, weather fab.Walked up Sale fell then back for a pint of Neck Oil and a pizza on return, staff very helpful and site spotless.Till the next time.
Great location, lovely accommodation and really efficient check in/out. Its just the perfect place for being when heading to lake district
Apart from having our pre chosen pitch that we booked and paid in full for being habited by others, The facilities are very poorBathroom , showers basic and very cold,Highly publicised bar and bistro closed at 6.30pm with no advice from the staff who we met to show us a different pitch. We was left to go and find somewhere to eat as we was planning to use the bistro as we was only there for 1 night (luckily)
Overall site was well kept and pitches good. Toilet block internals looking tired. Dissapppinted that for a dog friendly site furry friends aren't allowed in the Bistro. Dogs are allowed on the outdoor terrace which is ok in the summer.months but not during the spring month when we visited.
We stayed for a week in hawkshead lodge. The lodges are beautiful inside with an unbelievable view outside! You can not fault this site! The staff are lovely and happy to help when needed and the site is quiet which allows you to sit back and relax. The lodges are clean and tidy and the environment is beautiful! Highly recommend!
My husband and I spent Valentine's weekend here and we had a great time. We loved the location, it is so peaceful but you are also within easy reach of both Keswick and Cockermouth. In fact, the bus stops right outside the site so we jumped on it and went into Keswick for the day. It was great, the fact that we could have a few drinks and food without having to worry about driving. We went for a nice walk and happened to meet the owner, Leticia, whilst she was mucking out her horses. She was so lovely and able to tell us about all the best places, walks and eateries near by. We were very lucky with the weather and really enjoyed the hot tub. We will definitely be back!
Arrived for 3 nights for the second time, loved every minute, the lodge was very clean and the hot tub was amazing, we have been to other places and couldn’t use the hot tub on the first night as it was to cold, lovely walks on the area and not to far from Keswick, we got a taxi in to Keswick for a birthday meal, o would recommend booking in advance and book a return as there aren’t a lot of taxis about.
We stayed in Herdwick retreat for 4 nights, Monday to friday for the second time this year.It is a well appointed lodge with lovely views up to skiddaw from the hot tub.It is unfortunate that the bistro on site has only been open Thursday to Sunday during our stay but it is understandable due to the time of year. There are plenty of nice local pubs & restaurants nearby that served really good food and places that can deliver. The staff were extremely helpful during our stay.I am sure it won't be our last visit.
