Booked 4 nights as said had Bistro and distillery within walking distance, both were shut, bistro looked like it hadn’t been open for a while also distillery, booked fully serviced pitch, had pitch no 2 which was miles from toilets , (pitch view was the only good thing on site) got to it and tap was broken so had to move to another pitch to fill up, toilets were absolutely disgusting couldn’t use them , had no water at all second day, phoned number on website, the person was in Greece! Was very abrupt which was the last straw, decided to forfeit 2 days and go on somwhere else, very expensive for nothing, wouldn’t recommend
It’s a lovely site with some great facilities, the location is really good, short drives to the places near by. The lodge could of been really nice, but needs some improvements, the hot tub lid was all broken and soaking up the water from inside, making it really heavy to lift, the inside of the lid was going moldy which put you off using the hot tub. Inside the lodge some of the cooking utensils were missing, which made cooking hard. It’s a lovely site in a great area with fab views but the lodge needs some improvements.
Our two night weekend stay, wasnt as exoected,no bitsro bar open, toilet block dirty and not ckeaned, handryer in the male toilet broken, our plot 7 fully serviced kept tripping out, despite no load,The views are amazing, thats why if the owners get a hold of this and turn it around, then i wont be back,
The lodge itself was fine but after checking the bistro on site opening hours and it seemed to have opened at Easter. Nothing on site at all. Several people looking to go but it was shut all weekend. Never saw one member of staff
Nice quiet site, toilets could have done with being a little cleaner and the pub didn’t have card machine so we couldn’t get a drink but I would return
Toilets need upgradingBeautiful scenery Great positioning of caravan to enjoy some wonderful viewsBistro cash only, why? Most people don’t carry cash - as a result didn’t use the bistro which is a shame
We were in our motorhome and were not impressed on arrival, nobody around to talk to and our pitch in the centre of static and parked caravans. However a call to the number provided allowed us to move to a premium pitch located up the top of the field. The pitch was well positioned offering good views of the surrounding area and in particular Skiddaw. We had read that the shower facilities were dirty, we found this to be not true, they are dated and very gloomy, but clean. The floor was covered in vegetation that was clearly blowing under the door, something that should be easily rectified. The location is remote a good walk to find a pub or somewhere to eat, however handy for Bassenthwaite lake, the remoteness did lead to a peaceful stay. We would not rush back, but would stay again if needed.
Nice fully serviced pitch with great views, toilet and shower block were not cleaned over our 4 night stay, disappointing for what we paid.
Had a couple of days here and were blessed with beautiful weather. Disappointed that the bar/restaurant wasn't open, as it was lovely sitting in the sunset enjoying a drink last time we were here. Toilets could do with updating, even just a new lick of paint to tidy them up.
Lovely site in general No staff around if needed as there's no reception (which I didn't) but I think this could be an issue, however a phone number is provided. Toilet shower block a bit dated but functional. Elsan point was quite frankly a disgrace. Just a big tank of toilet deposits to pour into. It stank.Overall lovely and peaceful, but improvements could easily be made. Still recommended.
