Situated outside the village of Creetown in Wigtownshire, Castle Cary Holiday Park offers guests a quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. The Park has so much to offer, and aims to develop its facilities for guests year after year.

For tourers or motorhomes, choose between a hard-standing pitch with electricity and water connections or a touring pitch with drainage, water and electricity. The Park also has fully serviced hard- standing with grass pitches (some of which permit an awning). Grass pitches are also available for tents or tourers with or without electricity.

For those seeking a more luxury getaway, the Park offers a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all-season holiday homes.

Castle Cary has a fantastic range of on site amenities, including an insulated chalet-style building with showers, toilets, and baby changing facilities. In addition to these, the chalet also houses a disabled-access toilet, a laundry room with sinks and a dishwashing area.

The activities on site are next to none, namely the indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools which add a splash of added fun to your stay (small charge applies). For younger campers, a heated paddling pool is on hand, as well as a playground, crazy golf course, and a games room with pool tables and video games.

At the centre of the holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires. Further to this, a family-run café opens daily onsite and serves breakfasts, meals, snacks, coffees and sweet treats.

On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.

The Park is located within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Reserve, which covers most of South West Scotland and is a testament to the low levels of light pollution attracting Dark Sky enthusiasts worldwide.

Kirroughtree Forest and Visitor Centre sits 5 miles to the north of Castle Cary and is home to the world class 7Stanes mountain bike venue, offering a variety of routes for bikers of all levels, bike shop, endless walking routes and café.

The market own of Newton Stewart is located 7 miles north west of Castle Cary and has a wider range of amenities including supermarkets and a high school. Newton Stewart is known as the ‘Gateway to the Galloway Hills’ providing visitors with thousands of miles of hillwalking in the area.

Fabulous location

Loved our third stay here and we will return, love the heated pools and that they are open late. Love that you can have fires for toasting marshmallows with the kids. I think cleaner signposting of water taps would be helpful, and information about how long a dryer token lasts, as I bought one the day before we left but it wasn’t enough to dry everything and then the shop and reception were shut, not enough time with kids in tow to pack up and finish laundry.

Being close to home our highlight is it’s near to home for a last minute getaway.

Blackley, Claire - 13/08/2026

We have stayed here a few times now and always love the spacious camping pitches. The kids have plenty of room to run and play without us worrying about disturbing neighbors. The pool, Lairds park, and food delivery to our site are great options, though there seemed to be a few minor mix-ups and delays that were quickly resolved. The staff are friendly and the facilities are generally good. However, we noticed the cleanliness of the toilets and showers has slipped, and the outdoor dishwashing area needs some attention. While we understand it is a peak period, everyone in our group commented on this. Overall, it is still a great site and we will definitely return!

Great sized pitches

Newsam, Pamela - 13/08/2026

Easy access to site from A75 making it an ideal stopover when travelling over to Northern Ireland. Good sized pitches with a decent amount of privacy. Handy dog walking and good play facilities and pool for kids. The Lairds Inn is always a treat but definitely recommend booking well in advance

A75 Road Noise

Madeley, Gavin - 13/08/2026

Facilities v good, showers v good, kids loved the pools. But if you are in a tent without electric, insist on a pitch a proper distance from the A75, otherwise expect to get very little sleep. If we had stayed more than two night we would have asked to move. Still cannot believe the site manager thought it was a good idea to place us beside the trees and less than 10m from the road.

Excellent Park

Skilbeck, Kerry - 08/08/2026

We had an absolutely fab time at Castle Cary. Staying in the non electric grass pitches meant that we had lots of room for the kids to run around and play. The facilities are top notch, the outdoor pool was fab and the kids loved the outdoor giant checkers board. We enjoyed visiting the donkeys and walking through the nearby woods as well. The only downside really was that the showers in the block turned off if you weren’t holding the button in and the light sensor (located outside the shower cubicle) was also on too short a timer. I had to shower one handed and wave my hand about outside the cubicle to get the lights back on, which wasn’t the best shower experience. Otherwise a great stay and all our interactions with staff were very friendly and positive too.
