Situated outside the village of Creetown in Wigtownshire, Castle Cary Holiday Park offers guests a quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. The Park has so much to offer, and aims to develop its facilities for guests year after year.

For tourers or motorhomes, choose between a hard-standing pitch with electricity and water connections or a touring pitch with drainage, water and electricity. The Park also has fully serviced hard- standing with grass pitches (some of which permit an awning). Grass pitches are also available for tents or tourers with or without electricity.

For those seeking a more luxury getaway, the Park offers a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all-season holiday homes.

Castle Cary has a fantastic range of on site amenities, including an insulated chalet-style building with showers, toilets, and baby changing facilities. In addition to these, the chalet also houses a disabled-access toilet, a laundry room with sinks and a dishwashing area.

The activities on site are next to none, namely the indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools which add a splash of added fun to your stay (small charge applies). For younger campers, a heated paddling pool is on hand, as well as a playground, crazy golf course, and a games room with pool tables and video games.

At the centre of the holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires. Further to this, a family-run café opens daily onsite and serves breakfasts, meals, snacks, coffees and sweet treats.

On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.

The Park is located within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Reserve, which covers most of South West Scotland and is a testament to the low levels of light pollution attracting Dark Sky enthusiasts worldwide.

Kirroughtree Forest and Visitor Centre sits 5 miles to the north of Castle Cary and is home to the world class 7Stanes mountain bike venue, offering a variety of routes for bikers of all levels, bike shop, endless walking routes and café.

The market own of Newton Stewart is located 7 miles north west of Castle Cary and has a wider range of amenities including supermarkets and a high school. Newton Stewart is known as the ‘Gateway to the Galloway Hills’ providing visitors with thousands of miles of hillwalking in the area.

Great stay

Sherwood, Julie - 30/06/2026

Lovely site with everything you need and nice extras. The staff were all lovely, the facilities were all clean and fully functioning. (One little issue, the showers were too hot, worry would scold a child). We had very hot weather so the outside pool was amazing. Was lovely to see so many rabbits every day

Wouldn't stay here ever again

Marley, Christine - 14/06/2026

We booked it online as it said it had swimming pools a restaurant and bar and cafe and amenities. What they didn't tell ypu was they only opened when they had staff. We paid full price to get nothing in return . We went in and made a complaint before we left all they said oh the restaurant is nothing to do with the holiday park so why do they advertise it then ? The cafe and pools and amenities belong to the holiday park but oh sorry about that not even the offer of a partial refund. We won't ever be back and I will be letting all our friends & family be aware of the holiday park thats only open to park up

Not impressed

Davidson, Angela - 07/06/2026

On arrival at the campsite found it quite unimpressive, damaged old caravans welcome you as you drive in, which doesnt look good at all. Guy at reception was friendly and showed us on a map where plot and toilets/showers were. Facilities are kept clean but water isnt very hot for washing dishes and although the showers are spotless you have to keep pressing the button for a continuous flow of water which is annoying. The Lairds Inn is located on the site and we were advised to book if we wanted food but could just walk in if we just wanted a drink, we thought great!!! But what they didnt tell us was that its only open a few days a week and it was closed on the days we were there. Creetown is a very short walk from the site but you will only find a shop there which sells groceries. The walk through the woods is treacherous, especially if its been raining, if your unsteady on your feet definitely dont walk that way. The site looks like Blackpool illuminations at night.

Welcome return

Ling, Peter - 06/06/2026

We had stayed on the site before, some 30 years ago. It has changed a lot since then and all for the better. The pitch size was good, with a tap, drain and hookup point all together on a bollard. Everywhere was well maintained and the shower/toilet block being located close by. The ensuite compartments were also well maintained and clean, however not always left clean by those using the shower. This maybe, partly because the screen was very short and was almost impossible to stop water splashing out on to the floor. The site is in a good location for exploring the area and easily accessible from the main road. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and the reception was closed which seemed a bit odd, we then found a chap in a lay-by on the driveway was booking everyone in? The playground looked popular as did the Laird's Inn.
