Situated outside the village of Creetown in Wigtownshire, Castle Cary Holiday Park offers guests a quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. The Park has so much to offer, and aims to develop its facilities for guests year after year.
For tourers or motorhomes, choose between a hard-standing pitch with electricity and water connections or a touring pitch with drainage, water and electricity. The Park also has fully serviced hard- standing with grass pitches (some of which permit an awning). Grass pitches are also available for tents or tourers with or without electricity.
For those seeking a more luxury getaway, the Park offers a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all-season holiday homes.
Castle Cary has a fantastic range of on site amenities, including an insulated chalet-style building with showers, toilets, and baby changing facilities. In addition to these, the chalet also houses a disabled-access toilet, a laundry room with sinks and a dishwashing area.
The activities on site are next to none, namely the indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools which add a splash of added fun to your stay (small charge applies). For younger campers, a heated paddling pool is on hand, as well as a playground, crazy golf course, and a games room with pool tables and video games.
At the centre of the holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires. Further to this, a family-run café opens daily onsite and serves breakfasts, meals, snacks, coffees and sweet treats.
On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.
The Park is located within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Reserve, which covers most of South West Scotland and is a testament to the low levels of light pollution attracting Dark Sky enthusiasts worldwide.
Kirroughtree Forest and Visitor Centre sits 5 miles to the north of Castle Cary and is home to the world class 7Stanes mountain bike venue, offering a variety of routes for bikers of all levels, bike shop, endless walking routes and café.
The market own of Newton Stewart is located 7 miles north west of Castle Cary and has a wider range of amenities including supermarkets and a high school. Newton Stewart is known as the ‘Gateway to the Galloway Hills’ providing visitors with thousands of miles of hillwalking in the area.

The site was easy to find. The reception staff were friendly & helpful. The pitches & the toilet facilities were excellent. A few of the communal areas needed a little tlc but we appreciate it is early in the season.
Enjoyed 1 night stay , toilets , showers kept clean & tidy , site well maintained , we stayed mid April on a Monday unfortunately the on site shop was closed & the Lairds Inn was also closed, no bar meal this time .
Recently stopped on a fully serviced touring pitch.Faultless facilities Clean shower blockLovely siteException food and great atmosphere and the Lairds Inn (onsite pub)Will be retuning soon
Great time at the park would have prefered a better pitch as caravan backed onto a tree and it was hitting off our van, pitch backed onto park so my grandson loved it. We will defo return nice quiet park at night. Toilets very nice clean.
we love coming here tho the weather was awful we asked to move pitch as it was like a bog! walked into the village from the site the long and muddy way quite a hike but the dog loved it! pub always good value and good food we will be back!
Really enjoyed our camping with hook up- very unlucky with the weather but pitch areas were generous. The Lairds Inn was good but definitely glad we had booked otherwise we would not have eaten. The in site shop was very reasonable not with over inflated prices, but was t always open at convenient times however there is a local shop in the village which was perfect. As we had a wood burning stove - was given great advice from assistant in Aldi to buy logs and kindling from the first garage as you drive into Newton Stewart, again seemed reasonable and excellent quality - nine dry and burned efficiently. Swimming is Jeff to parents responsible so I could take my 3 children, 11.9 and 2 buy myself. Didn’t see the donkeys, but enjoyed a short drive to feed the dear as part of the forest commission. Would be good for advice / directions how to get onto the beach in the summer and local walks in the area. Booked again for last week of summer holidays.
We had a one night stopover after the Stranraer ferry. I was only sorry we couldn’t stay longer. What a great site. The onsite pub is fantastic and the area is gorgeous
When we arrived at Castle Cary we were very disappointed as to what we had done. The sight of the horrible. old and rotting , mildew covered caravans that were the first things we saw was not very inviting. After booking in we went to our allocated pitch along a road full of potholes which were very difficult to avoid because there were so many The castle ruin is absolutely beautiful and we had a lovely meal in the lovely Lairds Inn. We had a very wet weekend so the amenities were covered in mud bit if it was a dry weekend everything would look 100% better. Some flower beds with colour would be nice.
Thank you once again for a wonderful stay. It was lovely meeting Alistair on arrival. We look forward to our next visit.
Stayed for 5 nights over Easter holidays. Lovely place. Clean bathrooms and around the site. very friendly. Lairds in carvery was fabulous. I only gave it 4* as the pool and games room let it down, the pool was murky and not clean around the sides. The games room is dated and we lost money on a fair amount of the machines not working. Would return.
