Ruthern Valley Holidays

Bodmin, Cornwall

Park Description

Ruthern Valley offers a holiday experience where you can get in touch with nature and wildlife; a centrally based haven from which you can enjoy all that Cornwall has to offer. It’s ideal for families and friends. There's a play area for children, on-site bike & wetsuit hire, an on-site shop for basic groceries, locally sourced produce, ice-creams/confectionery, a selection of soft and alcoholic drinks, camping gas and equipment, plus a few luxuries.

Ruthern Valley gives you a choice for any budget. There are 8 timber cabins, 4 cedar wood bungalows, 1 static holiday caravan, all fully equipped for self-catering. For the more adventurous, there are 2 glamping ensuite MegaPods, 4 glamping wigwams and 3 camping huts (pods). The touring caravan and camping area has 26 pitches, 8 of which have electric hook-up; there is a designated campers’ shower and toilet block – with solar hot water – and laundry facilities. The new and extremely popular Mega Pods are a glam-tastic new way to enjoy the big outdoors – with a little warmth, plus a sofa!

Listen to the birds and not traffic. Read a book, sip some wine, plan your bike trip to Padstow on the Camel Trail. We’re a hop skip and a pedal from the Wadebridge estuary, Camel Valley Vineyard, Grogley Woods or Bodmin Gaol! Or you can relax on site and let the children run off to the play area or feed the chickens after exploring the woodland trails.

Family-run and friendly, Ruthern Valley looks forward to welcoming you.

Really enjoyed my stay in and amongst the natural surroundings of woodland and countryside. Great array of things to do in the local area and if you decide not to venture far from your cabin you will be greeted by the huge variety of wildlife ranging from the many squirrels to the woodpeckers , nuthatches and as many woodland birds as you can imagine. Very peaceful site away from the roads and traffic. Right next to the Camel trail which is a wonderful flat cycle ride to Padstow where you can enjoy all the hustle and bustle of the harbour as well as grabbing a fish and chip dinner at Rick Steins restaurant . Cabin was very clean and welcoming from the start until the end. Would recommend very highly to anyone looking to get away from it all and explore the nearby delights of Bodmin and the surrounding area.

The site is a wonderful haven of peace with a lovely "close to nature" feeling. It's been upgraded by the present owners to a very good standard.

Campsite has a well stocked shop and lots of local information. Most pitches are very well sheltered by mature trees. A charming woodland setting. There are 2 new looking unisex showers ( 1 inc toilet) and 2 more and 1 more toilet. Main toilet block closed when we were there so can’t comment ( assuming COVID or updating) Camping /campervan area very quiet ( 2 other camper vans) when we visited in May. Self catering chalets well occupied. Overall, would recommend this peaceful campsite.

We stayed in a lodge which was very clean with a very comfortable bed-we slept so well! The kitchen was very well equipped too. There was a picnic table to sit out and enjoy the natural surroundings. The owners are very friendly and helpful if needed. We had a slight problem with the heating which was dealt with very quickly and the owner came the next day to check it was still ok. There are lovely walks in the area-We completed The Saint's Way during our stay which was amazing. Day 1: We parked in Lanivet, (free car park) then bussed to Padstow (via Bodmin) to walk back to Lanivet. Day 2 We parked in Lanivet again, walked to Fowey but Taxied back. Long days but a fabulous walk!. There is an information pack to order online. would definitely stay again-loved it!
