Ruthern Valley Holidays

Bodmin, Cornwall

Park Description

Ruthern Valley offers a holiday experience where you can get in touch with nature and wildlife; a centrally based haven from which you can enjoy all that Cornwall has to offer. It’s ideal for families and friends. There's a play area for children, on-site bike & wetsuit hire, an on-site shop for basic groceries, locally sourced produce, ice-creams/confectionery, a selection of soft and alcoholic drinks, camping gas and equipment, plus a few luxuries.

Ruthern Valley gives you a choice for any budget. There are 8 timber cabins, 4 cedar wood bungalows, 1 static holiday caravan, all fully equipped for self-catering. For the more adventurous, there are 2 glamping ensuite MegaPods, 4 glamping wigwams and 3 camping huts (pods). The touring caravan and camping area has 26 pitches, 8 of which have electric hook-up; there is a designated campers’ shower and toilet block – with solar hot water – and laundry facilities. The new and extremely popular Mega Pods are a glam-tastic new way to enjoy the big outdoors – with a little warmth, plus a sofa!

Listen to the birds and not traffic. Read a book, sip some wine, plan your bike trip to Padstow on the Camel Trail. We’re a hop skip and a pedal from the Wadebridge estuary, Camel Valley Vineyard, Grogley Woods or Bodmin Gaol! Or you can relax on site and let the children run off to the play area or feed the chickens after exploring the woodland trails.

Family-run and friendly, Ruthern Valley looks forward to welcoming you.

"Great facilities, owner was a bit grumpy"

Mr J Gardner - Stayed with friends, Sep 2021

Lovely place and facilities very well maintained, the only thing was the male owner was very grumpy most days and a little sassy.not always that welcoming, but the lady was incredibly helpful and friendly.

The site was easy to find due to the instructions provided in the welcome email. The site is small and compact and in a great location. We felt welcomed on arrival and soon found our pitch and settled in. The site is well appointed but there were a few minor niggles - the driveway is very narrow and so when you arrive you block the entrance when you check in, we also felt unable to fill our motorhome with water as there was no where to pull in by the tap; the waste water drain required lifting the tank as the drain was raised; and the chemical toilet disposal had no hose to rinse the cassette. However, these were minor niggles as we loved the site and the quiet; although one group nearby did not respect the rules and kept loud conversations and laughter going into the early hours - the manager had a word with them and they were quiet and respectful for our second night. One of the real joys as I said, was the location; a cycle of about a mile up quiet lanes finds you on the camel trail and we took the opportunity to cycle both ways to Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. For us this was a great site and we will certainly look to return.

"Lodge Holiday"

Mrs K Saunders - Stayed with partner, Sep 2021

Lodge was clean and tidy, but smelt of damp. Bad condensation on all windows first thing in morning. Privacy an issue, neighbouring holidaymakers walking past windows approximately 3ft away from large front room window, bathroom and bedroom, so felt as if curtains needed to be kept shut all the time.

The accommodation is spaced out really well so you don't feel too close to anyone else. We have stayed in a lodge and a bungalow and they were both clean, well laid out and good value for money. The park is really attractive with lovely flowers and trees which brings wildlife such as squirrels and birds. The location is good, we visited 40 places over 2 weeks and most were easily accessible with the furthest places being around an hour away. If you use Sat Nav it does like to take you down some very narrow roads so be wary of that. I have fallen in love with Cornwall and will return to Ruthern Valley in future. I have recommended it to a few people. The owners are friendly and helpful. Thank you for two great holidays here.

"Quality of campsite"

Richardson - Stayed with partner, Sep 2021

Access to designated plot was tight when towing a caravan. Would have preferred a more open site in main field instead of under the canopy of the trees, very noisy when raining!

"Extremely peaceful"

Mr P Bilzon - Stayed with partner, Sep 2021

We enjoyed the peace and quiet and its location. It is a little isolated, so trips out will need a car and an ability to navigate the web of tight and narrow lanes. Small, peaceful. Green and well kept. A hedgehog visited us during the night. The trees are beautiful. The wooded pitches were very nice. The kids enjoyed the play area. The showers were hot and clean. Thanks
