Anwoth Holiday Park

Gatehouse of Fleet, Dumfries and Galloway

103 Reviews

Park Description

Anwoth Holiday Park is set inland in the town of Gatehouse of Fleet and maintains the same blend of quality and service that has set its livelier sister park, Auchenlarie, apart from the rest. If peace and tranquility are for you, they can certainly be found at Anwoth. Some of the finest landscapes and scenery that have inspired Scotland’s authors and poets are on your doorstep. In fact, the whole area is a haven for wildlife. Herds of deer can be seen roaming the landscape and, if you can be very quiet, you may have the opportunity to see otters living in their natural habitat. Birds of prey, red squirrels and a host of other wildlife, are all there to be found when you explore. For the fisherman, several major rivers, including the Esk, Annan, Nith, Ken, Dee and Cree, all of them notable for salmon and trout fishing, are close at hand.

You can stay closer to home and use all the facilities available at our parent park Auchenlarie (just 5 miles away). There you can use all the fitness facilities; enjoy the entertainment and live shows in the Starlight Suite and sample some of the great food available at The Surfside Bistro and Takeaway.

A lot of the holiday activities are off site at the nearby sister park. We went a few times. It’s a nice place. Crazy golf, swimming pool, bingo, children’s entertainers & singers, bar & restaurant. It passed the time. The static caravan was excellent. Very well cared for with shower, 2 bedrooms, dining area that could be pulled out to make another bed area. Car park space next to the static caravan. There’s a fair amount to do in the local area if you drive to them, castles, beaches, golf , pubs etc. For £9.50 each on a Sun holiday deal it was a good price.

"Small and peaceful"

Anwoth was a perfect base for our short break, the wardens were very friendly and helpful and the caravan was perfect for our needs. It's a very small and peaceful park in a lovely small town.

The village is lovely with a great mix of pubs and shops, the surrounding area has some of the best walks in Scotland. less than 5 miles away is the best beach I have seen in a long time(Brig house Bay)with fantastic clear water and golden sands. if you want great home cooked food and a friendly welcome, visit the Bank of Fleet hotel in the village(the 3 course Sunday lunch is great value) The park is all about relaxing and chilling out.

A small, well-run quiet site in the middle of the town, it proved to be an excellent base for a few days in this part of Galloway. There are hard standing and grass pitches. The grass area is on a slight slope and so you might have some side to side levelling to do. Shops and eating places are but a short walk away. We particularly recommend the Masonic Arms for a meal. If you are a golfer, be aware that the Gatehouse 9 hole course is good fun but significantly hilly! All in all, nothing to find fault with and much to recommend.
