Anwoth Holiday Park

Gatehouse of Fleet, Dumfries and Galloway

104 Reviews

Park Description

Anwoth Holiday Park is set inland in the town of Gatehouse of Fleet and maintains the same blend of quality and service that has set its livelier sister park, Auchenlarie, apart from the rest. If peace and tranquility are for you, they can certainly be found at Anwoth. Some of the finest landscapes and scenery that have inspired Scotland’s authors and poets are on your doorstep. In fact, the whole area is a haven for wildlife. Herds of deer can be seen roaming the landscape and, if you can be very quiet, you may have the opportunity to see otters living in their natural habitat. Birds of prey, red squirrels and a host of other wildlife, are all there to be found when you explore. For the fisherman, several major rivers, including the Esk, Annan, Nith, Ken, Dee and Cree, all of them notable for salmon and trout fishing, are close at hand.

You can stay closer to home and use all the facilities available at our parent park Auchenlarie (just 5 miles away). There you can use all the fitness facilities; enjoy the entertainment and live shows in the Starlight Suite and sample some of the great food available at The Surfside Bistro and Takeaway.

"Nice site, shame about the caravan"

Our caravan was spacious and had two wcs. As we were on a cheap deal, we didn't mention the 2 radiators which didn't come on, the one which wouldn't go off, the non-working wall light in the living room, the plug in the shower room which didn't plug anything, the shelf... Our caravan was spacious and had two wcs. As we were on a cheap deal, we didn't mention the 2 radiators which didn't come on, the one which wouldn't go off, the non-working wall light in the living room, the plug in the shower room which didn't plug anything, the shelf in the fridge which kept falling out, or the filthy carpets in the hall and shower room. We were told that the carpet in the en suite was damp as it had just been cleaned. In fact it was absolutely sodden and remained so despite our attempts with towels and kitchen roll. The carpet was so wet we had to stand on a tarpaulin which we had with us. We reported this to the camp manager, who said he would do something. On our penultimate day a plumber came while we were out but by the next morning the wetness had reached the door and the cistern was dry, therefore would not flush. We threw a bucket of water down the wc to flush it. On our departure from the camp we reported this again and said that in our opinion the caravan should not be rented out in its present state.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. I do apologise that you didn't have an enjoyable time with us. I have spoken with the Park Warden and he reports that we did attend to the plumbing issues - in total, 5 times, and eventually found a hairline crack.... I have spoken with the Park Warden and he reports that we did attend to the plumbing issues - in total, 5 times, and eventually found a hairline crack. This problem was then resolved. Unfortunately, you never mentioned any of the other problems you encountered. Had you done so during your stay we would have attended to them immediately.
