As I have stayed at six mile water caravan park for a number of years this visit was the most disappointed stay to date.On arriving I noticed a number of caravans parked in the car park OUTSIDE of the caravan park with a number of small lorries, on setting up on site I noticed the people from the caravans outside in the ca park coming in and visiting people in caravans which were in a number of pitches, I assume these people parked up on the hard stands had paid the normal fee but I would doubt the people in the car park did. Over my stay I observed people from both inside and outside the campsite doing endless loads of clothes, carpets and rugs in the washing machines leaving very little time for anyone else to use the machines, it appeared the people outside the campsite had access to all the facilities with the codes from the people on the inside. As there is NO attendant in the site office it would appear the travelling community are taking over and doing what ever the want.
Travellers were on site using the facilities. ..who weren't camping on site ...rowdy....
This was our third caravan site on our tour of Ireland, as soon as we entered the site we knew we had made a huge mistake as our pitch was next to a caravan of gypsies, on looking around we noticed quite a few families of gypsies with multiple kids all riding around the site and kicking footballs as we have a very expensive caravan we were frightened it was going to get damaged. My partner wanted to leave straight away but as it was late afternoon and we were both tired and hungry we decided to stay and make alternate arrangements the following day. On walking our dog we noticed at least three gypsy caravans parked outside the site who were coming onto the site and using the facilities. After several telephone calls the following day we managed to find another site to move to so instead of staying four nights we only stayed two. As there was no warden on site the gypsies had free rein and could do whatever they pleased. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this site to anyone.
Very uncomfortable with the travelers set up just outside gate I feel ripped off paying good money when there is a problem with travelers using all the facilities on site for free you have CCTV cameras on site so you must no that there is a problem wouldn't come back are recommended to anyone thanks but no thanks
Travellers inside and outside campsite all had code and used all facilities when the cleaners cleaned toilets half an hour later while place a mess they threw paper towels everywhere into sinks and turned taps on and blocked toilets council to blame they should be removed no security on site at any time total disgrace lovely site going to the dogs everyone talking about on site Saturday night parties until at least 2 30 in morning on the site and outside it as well generator going outside site to all hours to get them electric so what will you’d do about it
This campsite is in a beautiful area with plenty to see and do. Overall value for money is great - amenities for tents aren’t great but this is reflected in price. There were lots of travellers in and around the campsite during our stay which didn’t help access to amenities. Laundry room was constantly in use and the women’s toilets were always full of teenagers and young children to the point that I couldn’t access the sink to wash my hands after using the bathroom. With no staff on site, there wasn’t much to do about this other than suck it up! More thought could be given to the timing of the toilet cleaning… as a tent user, arriving to find the female toilets closed for cleaning at 8.30am this was less than ideal! At least caravans have in built facilities to use if needed but not so for those of us in tents!
The camp site was filled with the travelling community who hadn't paid to stay and were actually camped outside the site in the car park. They were intimidating, using the facilities even though they didn't have a code and the camp site was messy. We have stayed here before and there were travellers there then, but we gave the site the benefit of the doubt. There should be a warden onsite at all times. The noise coming from them went into the we hours, around 1am, which is ridiculous for a campsite that has a noise curfew for 10pm!!! We won't be back
