My partner and I had such a great week here. He always said he hated camping and I’ve managed to change his mind about it and I’m sure part of that is down to the site itself. The staff are so helpful and friendly, the facilities are super clean and showers powerful. The pool is lush, it was a shame that it closed at 4.30pm every day as it was crazy hot during the week we were there and an evening swim would have been perfect. Same with it not being open until 10am. An early morning swim before then showering and starting the day would have been a perfect touch. The site itself is very well maintained and we we lucky to have lovely camp neighbours who were very considerate and friendly. Definitely recommend.
Facilities are lovely. WiFi is expensive and pool doesn't open until 10 so if u want an early morning exercise swim it's a no go. We love the en suite pitches. We came last year as well. Very handy. But toilet / shower blocks are also nice. Friendly staff. Lovely break.
The site is beautiful, toilet and shower facilities are lovely. It's a shame that the bar is only open on a Friday and Saturday night. The pool is lovely, just a shame that it closes at 4.30pm, especially on hot days.
We've been before but it may be our last time camping so we opted for an en-suite pitch. It worked out very well with the essential facilities very close, immaculate on arrival and a real pleasure to use. Hot water came on instantly.Electricity is connected via an app. Fortunately the site forewarned us (and also of local roadworks) so we had the app already downloaded, a bit daunting but it worked out. The Wifi was sporadic, needed frequent logging on but enough for some simple tasks. We did not try the Smytham app. Don't forget the swimming pool! The site is in a beautiful area and the nearby Tarka Trail is a must for walkers and cyclists and we walked to the Puffing Billy restaurant near Torrington. RHS Rosemoor (2visits) is about 3 miles away and Torrington (Dartington Crystal, Parish Church, Arts Centre etc) filled in a damp day (Sunday lunch at the Cavalier). We went to Lundy (book in advance) and many places along the north Devon Coast are worth a visit (Clovelly etc).
Lovely clean, quiet site, all staff helpful and friendly. We had a lovely swim too.2 feedbacks where you ask tourers to stop it would help if there was a sign showing this way to pitches 1/2/3 etc.Be told when registering how to get in the pool, ie just lift the knob on top of locking pole.
Stayed at this wonderful campsite for a long weekend. 5 * facilities. Great friendly staff owners took an active part in the running of the site. Loved it that much booked two weeks in September..
Good location, easy to Tarka Trail and RHS Rosemoor, clean and tidy, nicely laid out site, reception staff very helpful
We were impressed form the get go the site was immaculately clean the pitches were massive with our own picnic bench which was a nice touch. The pitch wasn’t very level but as we have a levelling system this wasn’t an issue. The pool was extremely clean the shop was equipped with the essentials the bar was a great place for a chill and the games room was superb with a big field to play ball games. The staff were extremely polite and really nice. The one issue I had was the grass cutting I know this has to be done to keep the site looking spectacular but the noise was a little annoying. There was how ever great wilding areas left to nature very impressive.I should also mention the fantastic walking opportunities around the site and local area.
This is our 3rd visit and enjoyed the pool and access to Tarka trail. The Puffin Billy resturant and hrs walk + is worth a visit.Friendly and helpful staff at Smythams.
Great campsite. The layout and facilties were very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in our Motorhome in the camping area, where the pitches were well laid out and with plenty of space. The shower/toilet block was modern and exceptionally clean. The outside and heated swimming pools (adult and child) were excellent, but woulld have henefited from having toliets, rather than trekking to the campsite shower block. We did some cycling on the Tarka trail, which was very close to the site and we could get to offroad, although we had to navigate some tricky paths to get there, but not a problem really. We had some take away food delivered to site, which was good, but it would have been nice to have had a small cafe area on site. It was our first time here and we'll certainly be coming back.
