Not how we remembered it….needs some TLC

Herbert, Sallyanne - 23/07/2024

We stayed at Longnor in 2016 and loved it for its high standards, cleanliness and the warm welcome. Returning in July 2024 was a little disappointing, the app is handy, but there wasn’t much of a welcome upon arrival. The pitch was pointed to me from reception, we weren’t shown to our pitch as we had been before. We felt the pitch was a little “unloved”, the electricity and water points were dated and had moss growing on them. The grass needed cutting and in general was a little unkept. The amenities building is now dated and cramped. There didn’t seem to be any cleaning schedule nor did I see anyone cleaning them during our stay. There is a wet floor sign out due to the showers flooding the area and the toilets were often not flushed or blocked, the mop was filthy. The vending machines are a good touch, outside washing area is ok during warmer weather only and dog field was nice. I feel Longnor is investing in the lodges more, we enjoyed the few days but maybe won’t return.

We enjoyed our stay on the site. Facilities clean and plentiful and it was quiet and peaceful. Convenient for Buxton and surrounding countryside. We did think that the pitches were a little close together and there wasn’t really room for the car with the awning up. The serviced pitches were a lot better. The approach roads were very rough.

Quiet, relaxing holiday in a beautiful setting

Cawdron, Peter - 23/07/2024

The lodge was spacious and very well-equipped - as well as spotlessly clean. Check-in was straightforward - all the staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful throughout the stay. We loved the peace and quiet of the site - it is well-located to explore the Peak District, Buxton is only 15 minutes away and we went walking in Dovedale and around Monsal Head. Local pubs offer good dining options plus we went out in Buxton one night as well. We are definitely planning a return visit.

Beautiful area

Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short due to family illness but we enjoyed our 4 nights (rather than 7).The site is a great location for walking and exploring the local area so we hope to return. The site seemed a little unkept but possibly due to the poor weather in recent weeks. The facilities were great though - shower/toilet block spotless but not sure why the radio wasn’t left on in the evenings which would have been welcomed.

The site was exactly as advertised, all facilities were immaculate, the staff were friendly and informative about the local area. The “extras” were the breakfast provision on the Sunday morning, bang on time and absolutely delicious. I think our friends also enjoyed the weekend as we certainly did. Thank you 😊

Couldn’t have asked for better - it’s a lovely peaceful setting yet only a 15 min drive into Bakewell, the lodge was well equipped with everything you could possibly need and it was excellent value for money. Will definitely be back :)

Amazing place to stay

Myself and my husband absolutely love Longnor Wood Holiday Park. The park is away from the road and is a fantastic location, very quiet and now has a gym, sauna and games room. The staff are all amazing, incredibly friendly and helpful. The Lodge was immaculate and so very clean. When we go to Longnor Wood Holiday Park we never want to leave. The surrounding area is beautiful and both Buxton and Leek are fairly close. There's also the little village of Longnor which has a small shop, there's post office and lovely quant confectionery shop. The Holiday park also sells essentials, so if you need, milk or tea bags etc they sell it.I highly recommend Longnor Wood Holiday Park.

Good location

Good secluded campsite. However not much individual space as very closely packed. Reception very rarely open when scheduled to be and shower facilities always appeared to have damp floor.

Loo with a view!

This was the first stop on our 2 week holiday, even though the rain poured, we were able to walk into Longnor (downhill was on the way in....the way back was uphill..just an FYI!!) The dog area was a fantastic view, and the meadow walk next to it was beautiful too, lots of care had been taken to maintain a fabulous site.Facilities were lovely, the rainfall showers in the ladies were gorgeous!!!
