I don't generally stay at the same place twice so there's no negative implication in me saying I wouldn't return. The difference between a 4* and 5* review was price. Longnor was expensive, but comparably expensive with elsewhere - in other words, it is a negative but it's part of a much wider trend and the negative is balanced by the great facilities. I was disappointed to have to hire a fire pit when I have a comparable one of my own and especially since in our 4 night stay the weather meant we only lit it once. I would tell others to definitely not book one in advance and to wait and see what the weather is like and how they feel on the day. The location is ok if you have a vehicle you don't mind driving to places, or if you're happy to walk everywhere. The village was a half hour walk for us, which we didn't mind but others would. And if people are on a walking holiday, don't bother walking south from the site as the paths that way are very overgrown, neglected or blocked.
I booked here with high expectations and they definitely met them. The site is excellently maintained and rhe staff were all friendly and helpful. The toilet and shower block were immaculate. The gym and games room were both equally brilliant. The site was away from roads, noise, children and farm animals. The App was a great touch and the multiple themed food delivery nights were a fantastic touch. The road before Longnor is a challenge to drive with a caravan. Perhaps this could be signposted as a potential hurdle.I have already recommended here to friends and I will definitely book again. 5 stars!
This is our second stay at longnor wood we bring mum for her birthday it is brilliant Xx
We camped here for 3 nights the staff were really nice and helpful, the toilets and showers were spotlessly clean the campsite is well maintained me and my wife are looking to come back later this year I would highly recommend this campsite to anyone.
Staff very friendly and helpful enjoyed our 10 day stay very peaceful setting due to my wife being disabled and being in a Motorhome tend not to travel around would recommend Longnor too any one really happy with my stay will be back
9th time here perfect as always the team are so approachable and hrlpful had a whole month camping didnt want to leave facilities top notch as usual thankyou for a fab time already booked our next visit x
We stayed in a 2 bed lodge (Kale) with our elderly parents. Everything was on one level which was great for them. On arrival the lodge was spotlessly clean and tidy. The beds were so comfy and both bedrooms had walk in showers. The lodge was really well equipped with everything you would need in a self catering holiday accommodation. The location is breathtaking with amazing views a short walk from the lodge. Its in such a quiet and peaceful spot, the perfect place to relax and unwind. The location is great with lots of interesting little villages, Bakewell etc all a short drive away.We had some fantastic meals out at Ye Old Cheshire cheese in Longnor and the Bull at Moneyash. We also took advantage of ordering pizzas at Reception, which were delicious and delivered straight to your lodge. The team at Longnor are lovely, the lodges and grounds are very well maintained and staff are extremely helpful and friendly. This was our 2nd time at Longnor Wood and it won't be our last. Than
Peaceful site, nice pitches with table and benches, great views. Take away food options at the weekend. Nice walk into Longnor village for a coffee.Facilities good and clean. Only down side was no liquid soap in one of the toilet cubicles for the entire weekend. Also on one occasion no toilet paper. Super dog field for our two dogs.
What a lovely site. Allocated pitch, amazing facilities, we loved the dog walk space. Felt very comfortable with our dog there too
Lodge was OK. One of the patio doors didn't lock, but being as it cant open because the hot tubs in the way, it didn't really matter. Also the gate catch didn't latch easily. The hot tub lids are the heaviest I've ever lifted. Like the instructions say, it certainly is a 2 person job. Not sure how the elderly get on with it.Nice touches are the bottle of bubbly and milk.Cheshire Cheese pub is lovely with really friendly staff. We ate there every night.Dog walking field is spot on, especially when you get the sunset.
