Great location just 2 miles walk from the Lizard and Kynance Cove. Site is lovely and quiet. Staff/owners were pretty much non-existent. We got an email a couple of days beforehand telling us that they wouldn’t be there and so just drive onto the site and find a pitch. There were plenty of toilets/showers but these have been poorly maintained and were very dirty. Broken toilet seats, mould, cobwebs, damp etc.Nothing local (other than walk into Lizard) which has pubs/restaurants/shops.Bus can be caught pretty much from the site entrance which is great.Beware of the Lizard foghorn. If it’s foggy the. It sounds every 30 seconds - day and night!Has the potential to be a superb site - but sadly now needing investment into the site and it’s facilities to bring it up to scratch.
Great hosts,Cottage could have been presented to a higher standard.Attention to detail would have made it a more pleasant stay.
Despite the weather we had a good break, but were a bit dissapointed with the campsite, which we'd visited a few years before and thought would be a nice place to stay. Large pitches with electics was great! It is very noisy as the main road goes past site, even the side road is loud. One night a fog horn went every 30 seconds for 12 hours. The bathrooms were always very wet and v grubby, with some lights not working, mould and lots of creepy crawlies, and often with long waits as there are not many showers - the campsite wasn't full due to the weather, so I imagine this can be a lot worse. The kitchen/utility is too small and very grubby. The washer &dryer were always in use, when I got to use it it appeared no one ever cleaned the filter or emptied the condensate. I gave it a good clean out and emptied. I could not find a washing line. My daughter loved the chick cuddling and the birds walking around, Poppy the dog was very friendly & the owners are very nice and helpful
We’ve stayed in the area 2 times before but they were hotel stays. To save money this year we chose to camp here as we know the area and we couldn’t have chosen a better place. The owner was always very friendly and helpful with anything we needed help with and gave good advice as we were new to camping. This is in a farm so there are live stock roaming freely which is nice, chickens and hens mainly, so every morning you’re woken up by them if you’re a light sleeper. No issue with myself as we’re early risers. Being on a farm we had problems with flies, but this was easily managed with repellent spray and didn’t affect our stay. Toilets and showers are good. Some problems with temperature being too hot or too cold in the mornings but we found using them when no body else is showering solved it. They’re kept tidy, and not hotel clean but camp site clean so a few cobwebs all you’ll find, and you clean up after yourselfWould recommend for anyone looking for a cheap cam
Liz and Mike were the perfect hosts. They were very informative when asked about certain locations and nothing was too much to ask. The children felt like they were home from home and the first thing they did when we returned from a day out was run to Liz to tell her what they had been doing. The toilets and showers are extremely clean and maintained several times a day, there is however the odd creepy crawlie friends and cobwebs but that’s expected when you’re camping in the great outdoors! The washing machine was a god send with 4 children and I came home with barely any laundry to do! You do have to pop £3 in for a load, which I was surprised as I thought it was included in the overall price, not a big issue though. This campsite is in a truly beautiful part of Cornwall where we were able to explore greatly with landmarks close by but also a lot of things to do with a short drive. The beaches surrounding the area are simply breath taking. Thanks to Liz and Mike!!
We first visited 2 years ago, since then as we could see nothing had really changed. The whole site needs a freshen up. Toilet and shower facilities need painting and a good clean. Access to the site with a large caravan is very tight indeed, the hedges being cut back would help a lot with access. We scraped our caravan with the hedges. There is also a bad smell from what I think was the septic tank, only whilst walking past though. Chickens & turkeys have free will around the site. Just mentioned incase this doesn’t appeal.
First impressions of site positive. Quirky site, not too big. Fairly clean and tidy, some things need a spruce (maybe a refresh on the bathrooms) bins could be emptied more but didn't have an issue with this too much. The fact it is dog friendly and child friendly and a reasonable price is great.Great for kids to go and put the chickens to bed and see the chicks. this was a nice touch. Lots of space in the other field for kids to play.Liz very informative. Some other quirky options to stay onsite such as cottages.Helpful to have washer/dryer and be in such a great location to walk to Cadgwith and Kynance Cove, just go down the lane, 35/45 mins for those which is great if you don't always want to drive but then located perfectly to go to other places such as Cider farm, Chocolate factory, down to lizard point most southerly point. It did rain heavy and alot of water sat on the pitch although it was hard standing, the pitch sizes are great and would definitely visit again
I don't normally write reviews, but I felt on this occasion I had to.The site is in a perfect spot to visit all areas of the Lizard. The owners were lovely and nothing was to much trouble. They advised me to visit Helford and they were spot on, it was a beautiful place. I loved the site because it is not manacured, it is rustic and natural and for me, just the right size. You get the feeling of being truly in the wild there, and you can walk from the site and get to the coastal path within 45mins across flowering grassland and green pastures. The showers were great and spacious and the water was always hot.It was that good I stayed another 3 nights.
Enjoyed our stay. Large grassy camp space where the pitches where located along the edge of the field with low shrubs between each pitch. Surprised by the amount of free space allowed in the middle of the field. The open space was perfect for the little one to run around, and be able to keep an eye on. Lots of free roaming chickens and turkey's which was loved by toddler. Toilets and shower where kept clean daily despite the muddy rainy weather. Plenty of hot water in showers. Wash up area small and functional with free to use freezer and pay washing machine. Was worried by a previous review about cockerels and noises from the road. Didn't bother us at all, the cockerels seemed to like a lie-in was expecting 4/5am calls. But we have a toddler so anything past 7:30am is a lie in. There was obvious sporadic traffic noises in the day but quiet at night. Great range of groceries and beer at Ruan minor store. Nisa is just up the road as well. Friendly relaxed hosts! Would stay again
We were happy with all areas of the campsite. Great showers and washing up facilities. Plenty of space. We loved the wild and domestic birds wandering around.Easy to find. Pitches level and a decent size. Owners friendly and helpful.Easy access to footpaths. Overall a friendly, relaxing site.
