beautiful site on river fishing from the site spacious good shower and toilet. Small shop on site and fire pits available
This was our third visit. We had the perfect pitch to access the free fishing. The facilities were modern and clean and well maintained. This is a gem of a campsite in the heart of Teesdale with many local attractions and we always enjoy the lovely walk along the riverbank to the village and it's tea rooms and eateries.
Very peaceful site with the River Tees running close by.The owner was very helpful and friendly.Local attraction of High Force waterfall a short drive away and other local walks on your doorstep.
Our first time at Leekworth in our Campervan and we will definitely be back. Facilities good and clean. No loose grass around after cutting ( which for us is always a bonus). We stayed in the Adult only field so was very peaceful, just the faint sound of flowing water from the river. Loved the 3 Ducks that came to see us at tea time. Walked into The Village via the river path and the road. As oap's and an elderly dog, we preferred the road as the river path is a little stony and uneven in places. Caught the bus into Barnard Castle that had lots of places to eat and shops. The added bonus to our stay was 3 days of fabulous weather
The most picturesque setting owner very accomodating toilets were brand new having a firepit made it very special. Lovely walk along river to beautiful village with 2 pubs very friendly. Bus to Barnard castle. Will definitely be going back
Fantastic place clean tidy and very quiet,we had pitch next to river very tranquil,30min walk into village great pub the forresters and a lovely pint, next door you have a lovely fish n chip shopWe will be back
Very beautiful spot. Very expensive to camp in a tent, could only afford 3 nights. Quite inconvenient having the toilet block closed for 2 hours. Obviously well organised and well run though.
Good friendly welcome and lovely pitch next to the river.lovely 20 min walk down the river into the village where we found excellent fish and chips- Tuesday they open but not Monday The walk to high force was good but lots of stiles and it took us about 4.5 hours. We returned via the road as we were not fit enough to do any more stiles- would do it again as it was wonderful. Thanks to the site owners for directions to the walk start. We ate at the Teesdale ( the only place open on a Monday) also excellent - the walk back via road is also about 20minsShowers clean- they do cost 50p so we had to beg for 50ps in our change that day! and the 50p slot is high on the wall for meThe site's location was wonderful and we would return
Enjoyed a nice quiet few days in this adult only site. Were supposed to be there on August Bank Holiday weekend but was ill so owner allowed us to move the booking to a few days later. The firepits that can be hired are a great idea. The pitches are a good size and fairly flat. There is a shop on site but the opening times are anyone's guess. The toilets and showers are clean but a bit of a walk from the furthest pitch and the hot water in the pot wash area isn't hot enough to properly clean greasy dishes.
Love this camp site. Very clean, great toilet and shower facilities. Dog friendly. Camp fires for rent which Robin brings to your pitch, he's friendly and enjoys a chat. 15 to 20 minutes walk into the village either along the river side or on the road that leads into the camp. Friendly pub in village where you can mix with the friendly locals and other campers. A few miles from High/Low force and Gibson's cave which are great for walks.
